In the last book of the Old Testament the prophet, Malachi delivers two important messages. First God is not pleased with the injustices of the world and secondly, God is sending a messenger who will prepare the way for the peace that will come.
The messenger is John the Baptist, and the peace that will come is Jesus.
And when Jesus comes there will be peace and with that peace, there will be justice. Malachi tells us what justice looks like. Justice with compelling evidence against sorcerers, adulterers, liars, those who exploit workers, those who take advantage of widows and orphans, and those who are inhospitable to the homeless along with anyone and everyone who doesn’t honor the Lord.
