What is an acceptable act? I believe we all struggle with knowing what an acceptable act is. Remember when you were at that fancy dinner, and you did not know which fork was acceptable to eat your salad with? Or when you got mad, at someone and you grappled if it was acceptable to send them a nasty email, a nasty letter or to just let them have it in a nasty personal exchange.
David in Psalm 19 struggles with the notion of what is an acceptable act. He acknowledges the magnificence of God’s creation; he recognizes the perfection and goodness of God’s commandments and laws. He understands his own sinful nature weakness which will keep him from following God’s commands. With this knowledge, David turns to God in prayer asking to let the words of his mouth and the meditation of his heart to be acceptable to the Lord. Because God is his rock and his redeemer.
