Dear Divorce Diary: A Fresh Approach To Healing Grief & Building A Life Of Confidence After Divorce
We are on a journey to get into the nitty gritty of divorce recovery and reveal why your divorce healing journey is still not working for you–even after you’ve tried therapy and read all the books.
Let's transform your pain into strength and take charge of your own narrative. Now’s the time we reclaim your healing journey–and why exactly we struggle to not only heal from past traumas but move beyond them to the ultimate goal: inner peace. That is real self-empowerment, and this is Dear Divorce Diary.
I’m Dawn Wiggins, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and EMDR specialist. I draw on decades of experience to help women navigate the emotional rollercoaster after ending a marriage. Using a little bit of science, a few alternative remedies and emotional release techniques, a whole lot of love, and zero BS, we step out of the victim mindset and into building a new life after divorce.
We emphasize nuance because overcoming challenges after divorce means questioning everything that got us here and using your divorce as a springboard to a better, more resilient (and certainly happier!) you.
On Tuesday, we have our listener segment called: "Getting Unstuck," where we anonymously unpack a difficult situation a listener is going through in their divorce healing journey.
And, on Thursday, we explore a "Hidden Healing Gem," which is a healing product or process we've tried and tested personally and/or professionally and are sharing our results and observations with you!
We cover essential life after divorce topics like grief, anxiety, codependency, loneliness, boundaries, nervous system health, attachment styles, the Law of Attraction, and homeopathy.
Join us twice a week as we go beyond talk therapy to process your grief, find the healing you crave, and rebuild your confidence.

Hi love, in today's episode, we're going to talk about an essential herb that you must have for complete health and well-being during this divorce recovery journey. Hi love, Welcome to Dear Divorce Diary, the podcast helping divorcees go beyond talk therapy to process your grief, find the healing you crave and build back your confidence. I'm your host, dawn Wiggins, a therapist, coach, integrative healer and divorcee. Join me for a fresh approach to healing grief and building your confidence after divorce. Y'all know how I love to talk about the mind-body connection here on the pod, and so, while it doesn't sound obvious that we would talk about herbs to heal from divorce, we know that the mind and body are intrinsically linked, and when we heal the body, we heal the mind, and when we heal in mind, we heal in the body. And so today is one of the days where we talk about a tool that is going to absolutely upregulate your body health, which then gives you relief in the mental, emotional spheres. It will improve your overall health, your sleep. It will reduce inflammation. It is something used for centuries. Let's dig into what it is centuries. Let's dig into what it is. In today's episode, we are going to talk about how to know if you need this herb, how to use it and the benefits it will bring you.
Speaker 1:Okay, enough drama. What is the herb Dawn? It's wormwood. What Wormwood has has a long, rich history in human culture. Uh, goes all the way back to greece and hippocrates and just like all the way back through time as a very, very powerful herb. And actually there is some theory I'm going to read you this one piece here that it has been speculated the word wormwood has been speculated to come from the Anglo-Saxon word wormode, w-e-r-m-o-d-e meaning mind preserver. If you didn't need a mind preserver right now, like oh, my word right, like where can I get me some Dawn? So what is wormwood? How does it work? Why does it work? How do you know if, okay, wormwood is an herb that has some natural anti-inflammatory benefits. It helps cleanse and heal the digestive tract and purify the liver.
Speaker 1:And Hippocrates prescribed it. And remember he's the father of medicine, right, when doctors become doctors they take the Hippocratic Oath. A lot of Hippocrates' understandings of medicine and medicinal properties was kind of foundational to homeopathy and its development, and so Hippocrates really is like a powerful figure in our sort of understanding of health and well-being in history. So he would prescribe it for menstrual pain. He would prescribe it for rheumatism. He would prescribe it for digestional issues and inflammation in general. And here's where you may have heard of it before as an anti-parasitic. So parasite cleanses have become all the rage on TikTok and Instagram and all of the popular places. But this goes well beyond that. Right. Wormwood is an herb that has been used throughout history to help keep our bodies in a healthy working balance.
Speaker 1:So how would you know if you needed wormwood? Well, here are a handful of common symptoms that I know that, if you Google these like people like you could have you know any kind of illness. But if you have digestive complaints so specifically, if you struggle with either constipation or diarrhea, or if you tend to get bloated a lot after you eat and like really gassy, if you crave sugar or diarrhea, or if you tend to get bloated a lot after you eat and like really gassy if you crave sugar or carbs, there's a good chance that you need it. If you have inflammation, especially in your joints, if you know that your detoxification pathways are sort of clogged, right, because it's so good at clearing the liver, if you're alive on this planet and you've never had it, you probably need it. Need it so, and the reason is is because when we eat certain foods whether it's the produce that we get from the grocery store if you're not the person that washes every inch of your produce in special produce cleansing baths, I don't know about you, but you might assume that I do. But I do not. If I'm lucky, like I rinse it really well and like maybe I scrub an apple with soap, but like I should be doing a much better job at cleaning my produce.
Speaker 1:But if you don't, right, there's just it's natural for parasites to have, you know, just to be in the foods, right. And then if you eat undercooked foods, there are a lot of parasites in pork or like in sushi. There are just places right where we pick up parasites. And so because we don't have great detoxification processes in this day and age, and just because, right, that's imbalance happens, it's just kind of normal function of being human is we don't live in balance all the time. That's the goal, right. But so it's likely that you have some digestive imbalances.
Speaker 1:And so not only does wormwood create this anti-parasitic effect and, brent, can I just tell you like, okay, this is where we spill the tea. All right, I just got very quiet. I know I asked you to lean in because I'm going to tell you some things, right? But I have found worms in my poop friend because I've been using wormwood, so that's a thing. But listen, my cravings have gone down. My wormwood so that's a thing. But listen, my cravings have gone down. My appetite has kind of come into alignment.
Speaker 1:So if you have tons of cravings, if you tend to overeat, if you know that you have some detoxification issues, if you have some struggles with inflammation, bloating like this is such a good call. Not only does it clear those parasites, but it's also just going to help, in general, heal your digestive tract. It's going to upregulate your absorption of the minerals and the foods that you need, because those parasites are consuming more than their fair share of salt and sugar from your diet and PS, then that's why you need a hydration packet, right? So if you know that you have nutritional issues, if your hair is falling out a lot, if you know that you're having skin problems eczema is often commonly associated with parasites and just kind of an unhealthy gut track. So I'm a big, big fan of wormwood in general. It is going to help clear brain fog. It is possible that in a couple of the days of you using wormwood, you may feel an increase in brain fog. That's just all the things clearing your system, love. It's like when you initiate detox, right. Until your body starts clearing some things, you might feel a little extra right. That's it. That's normal.
Speaker 1:Now, I'm not a doctor. Doctors would tell'm not a doctor. Doctors would tell you traditional western doctors would tell you not to do at home use of these types of herbs and cleanses. They would say that you need a doctor to diagnose that you have need for these things and they would write you prescriptions for whatever. So if that's your jam, then do that. But we have been using wormwood through the course of history and it is absolutely going to help you have more energy, sleep better, have less inflammation, and like who doesn't want that now? So I'm going to link. There are infinite places that you can get these, this particular herb, right.
Speaker 1:I'm going to link to you two products that I have used. So that's it. I'm not speaking for all the products out there, but I'm going to link for you two products that I have used. So that's it. I'm not speaking for all the products out there, but I'm going to link for you two products that I have used. One is a wormwood tincture. It tastes terrible. I have my daughter put it in a shot of orange juice. She drinks it out of a baby cup because I'm doing that with her as well. She has a history of food allergies and those kinds of things so we automatically know oh, she has some gut health that needs to be rehabilitated. Anyone who has food sensitivities definitely could stand to have some wormwood. We're dealing with the mental, emotional components of food allergies right, because it's all connected. But then also we need to rehab the gut. If you've ever been told you have leaky gut, that's well indicated that you need wormwood. So I'm going to link the tincture that I have used, but I'm also going to link the parasite cleanse supplement that I have used. It has a little kind of more robust in its ingredients. It also has walnut and clove and peppermint and garlic and onion and all these things that help interrupt the life cycle of a parasite and just lead to overall kind of healthier gut health as well. So I will link both of those products.
Speaker 1:I have had a lot of fun with both of these products.
Speaker 1:I have definitely noticed an improvement in my digestion, massive improvement in my digestion, massive improvement in my cravings, in my ability to think clearly, right, I've had a lot of brain fog clear and that is fantastic and just sort of overall kind of less.
Speaker 1:Oh, it's also a nervous system simulator, right, wormwood, this is so interesting, it's a nervous system simulator. So I felt a little more. I think the easiest way to convey it is tired, but not tired in a sense that like I'm tired and I can't rest, tired in a sense that like, oh, I feel like more restful. Does that make sense? Like I feel slower and more, like I could rest and that I need rest and that I could rest. That's how it feels, right, like, oh, I need some rest and I can hear that a little more clearly in my body and there's less sort of noise in my body about resting. So I just think overall, in general, my nervous system is better, my brain function is better, my digestive function is better and that is all amazing. So highly recommend. If you have not used this yet in your divorce recovery journey, it is worth checking out. Love you so much, peace.
