That's speak to pete.com and book in a chat to see if we're a great fit. Now let's get started. Here we are a lot 10 of 10 on how to move from operator to owner in your business in law. 10 is balanced the work and personal life. As a business owner, it's easy to get caught up in the day to day operations and really neglect your personal life I've lived this, but finding the right balance between work and personal life is essential for your well being and the success of your business. Remember, if you're not healthy, both mentally and physically, you can't have a healthy business. I don't love the whole idea of balance work and personal life. I mean, I've named the episode that. But of course there are going to be seasons where you're busy at work. And that's expected. As a business owner, you can expect to be crazy busy, you can expect to work 50 6070 hours a week. The issue is that if you're doing it every week, that's a problem. And that's what I want to talk a little bit about today, if you're finding yourself overworked and overwhelmed, not just that certain seasons within the year, that are your busy seasons, if you're an accountant, and it's tax time, yes, you're going to be busy. I mean, you're not going to get around that in our footwear stores. Our busiest time is the spring of year, you know, April, May, June, everybody is freeing the feet, they're getting out of their boots are moving into sandals, it's crazy busy, we need to be all hands on deck. But if you're busy and all hands on deck every day, every week, every month of the year in your particular position of being the operator and owner of your business. That's a problem. And you need to address that. Because as you start feeling the overwhelm as the weight comes down on your shoulders. And if you haven't tackled these previous nine laws already are pieces of them, you're going to feel the burden and the pressure. And you're going to suffer either physically or mentally, and feel as though you don't want to do it anymore. That's not why you got into business you got into business because it's supposed to free you up, it's supposed to give you the life that you deserve and want as a business owner, you need to structure and framework your business so that you're allowed to have the freedom that you first thought of when you got into business. And we've habitual alized ourselves quite often, when I work with a lot of clients, they just feel that they have to make these decisions, they have to be involved. They can't release the trust portions, a lot of these different things we've talked about over these last nine episodes here and the 10 laws. And think about all of these things and how you can make these small improvements, how you can Kies in your business, as we talked about back in the process, the small improvements that will make magnificent advancements for your life and your business along the road. A few years back, I created a planning system for business owners. I call it the one page planner, it's a journaling system. You can download it at simplifying entrepreneurship.com forward slash planner, it's free. We'd love your take on it to see if it works for you or not. But really it's a set of PDFs and it revolves around understanding what you want out of your life and creating the prime priorities to move that ahead. So the difference between this and so many other planners is it's really catered to Well, I built it for myself because I'm an entrepreneur and I needed it. I need the structure around creating the priorities, understanding that the buckets of life, my health, my wealth, my vision, my relationships, all of these things need attention, and they need to be able to create the business that allows me to focus on these buckets of life. The business is supposed to support the life that I want to live. That's why I'm a business owner. If I didn't have that happen, then I might as well go work for someone else. Being a business owner isn't for everyone. There's a lot of risk but there's A lot of reward too. And if you aren't experiencing some of the reward, then we need to set up these 10 laws in order to help you get there. In the one page planning system, I have sort of an allotment for what I call free focus and flex days. And I stick to my free days as much as I possibly can enjoying the time off. This past March, my wife and I went away for about three and a half weeks away from the business out of the country. And that was part of my free day planning structure, I plan other times off throughout the year to so that I get my structure i Everybody has different ways on how they like to enjoy their free days, as a retailer, I often work Saturdays, that's okay with me, I just take different days off, some people refuse to work weekends, other people want to take blocks of weeks off, it doesn't matter. They're all uniquely yours. But the idea is that you have to structure in your free time. And you have to structure in your focus time that you're going to be focused on making money for your business and doing making the decisions that are going to take this business ahead so that you can live a better life. And so can the rest of your team and your clients. So there's all sorts of different ways to create work and life balance in your schedule. Step one is just have a schedule around them, right? Start to put it in your calendar, when you're gonna go for the dog walk when you're gonna go skiing, when you're gonna go play golf, when you're put it in the calendar. Because if you don't block off the time, here's the thing with most business owners, if you don't block off the time, the time will fill itself with other things that are less important than you being healthy and you being available to your family and you being involved in your relationships that your family and your friends and your kids, your parents and everybody else that means something to you. Your business should allow you the freedom to do some of the things that you want to do not just be working 50 6070 hours a week making the decisions that you need to make in your business. That's the whole idea of the 10 laws here that we've put forth. I want to take this back to law number three, a little bit around cultivating your leadership skills just to put a bow on the end of the 10 laws here. And ultimately, when you're cultivating your leadership skills, and you're crafting the CPA, right, you're becoming a better communicator, you're aligning better process, and you're aligning your accountability in your business, it's going to help you align, to have a better life, to have better freedom to have more freedom, the freedom to do what it is that you choose to do as the business owner. And think about that inside your business and outside your business right inside your business. You want to be working in what I call your love zone and have a whole framework around that. Feel free to reach out to me around the love its own framework. But basically, you want to be working your love its own. Anytime you're working in your business, you don't want to be frustrated by it, I'm going to use accounting as an example here. I'm actually pretty good at accounting. I just don't like to do it. So I've hired a bookkeeper. And Michelle works and loves bookkeeping. And she's really good at it. She's structured, she does everything she needs to do to move through all of her tasks and chores and accounting, which will drive me crazy, but she loves it. So think about all of the different things within your business that you don't want to do anymore and free yourself up from those align and assign the accountabilities set up the processes, so that you can be working in the areas that give your business and your life the biggest boost. Ultimately, when you're working, you want to be working in a position where it doesn't feel like work. Here's when you know if you love what you're doing. If at the end of the day, you've worked a 10 hour day, it was a long day. And you don't feel tired, you feel invigorated, you feel excited, you feel you know empowered about all of the things you've been working on, you're working in your love zone, if at the end of the day you feel sort of overrun, overworked, worn out time for bed, all that sort of stuff, you probably have some work to do around aligning some of the chores, tasks and responsibility decision making, that you have to do within your business, and assigning and aligning it to someone else. So that you can truly work in your love zone. And they can do because when that happens, you're going to have more time, more passion, more power, for your business and for your personal life. And that's what essentially I want for you as the business owner of your business. Because you own your business and it shouldn't own you and if you're feeling that way. It's time to make some changes. And of course, I'm always here to have a conversation with you just go to speak to pete.com speak to pete.com and we'll have a little chat to see if we're a right fit. I hope you've enjoyed this 10 law structure here. and think about how you can apply each of these laws to your business to make your business and life even better. Now go and make it a great day
