Spiwe:

Welcome to the Mindful in 5 Summer Zen Series. I'm your host, spiwa Jefferson, certified Mindfulness Practitioner, lawyer and author of the Mindful in 5 book series. While you're soaking up the sun and savoring the cheerful season, we're here to help you find your zen, infusing your summer with mindfulness, balance, peace and purpose. In each episode, we'll share simple, science-backed strategies to help you thrive and feel clear, softer and supported. If you are in your winter season, no matter. Grab your favorite drink, find a comfy spot and let's dive into today's transformative practice.

Spiwe:

In the fast-paced world of work, how do you build the resilience to bounce back from setbacks? A study by Two Gate and company in I think it was back in 2004, found that resilience is linked to positive emotions and effective coping strategies. Our topic today is build resilience despite challenges. We are going to use mindfulness to cultivate that today. Challenges we are going to use mindfulness to cultivate that today. So now, wherever you are, as long as you are safe to do so, close your eyes and take a deep breath with me.

Spiwe:

Recall a time when you successfully overcame a challenge. Feel the strength, wisdom and resilience you demonstrated. See it in your mind's eye. Now, visualize yourself applying these same qualities to a current difficulty, yourself applying these same qualities to a current difficulty, and then, as you do so, silently repeat I am resilient, I am strong. If you don't feel like you are, then convert that to a permissive statement May I be resilient, May I be strong. Now open your eyes when you are comfortable to do so. See, by connecting with your inner resilience, you're reminding yourself of your ability to handle adversity as you navigate your workday. Remember to draw upon this strength. With practice, resilience can become your default response to challenges.
