WOMAN
I need to tell you something, something about your family, your history, your heritage. I did something that kicked this off. It was innocent at least my part, in the beginning. I didn’t seek this out and I would never wish this on anyone but as of this point I am so grateful for you and for your life. What I’m about to do, I do knowing the price. I know you won’t remember anything from before but perchance something resurfaces upon reflection, I need you to know what to do...and more importantly what not to do.

Mrs. Harker? You said you were on a call?
ASHLEY
Yes, my office called about a problem at work.
SHERIFF
What sort of problem?
ASHLEY
Just a scheduling issue. What does that have to do with anything?
SHERIFF
I don’t know. Could the call have been a ploy to distract you?
ASHLEY
You mean like from the kidnapper? No. No. It wasn’t. The call was from my co worker Ray.

Why’s he here?

DEPUTY
He asked...
LEE
I demanded to be brought to you. Special Agent Lee, hostage recovery, kidnapping that sort of thing.
SHERIFF
Now hold on a minute. We don’t know this is a kidnapping.
LEE
And yet a child is missing and there’s no forced entry or exit. Yes?
SHERIFF
How’d you know that?
LEE
I’m a psychic.
SHERIFF
You kidding me?
LEE
Yes. That’s a joke. Sorry, you had to be there.
SHERIFF
We’re just starting to investigate this. How are you here so quickly?
LEE
I monitor APBs for missing persons, kidnappings, alleged suicides, serial killings, unexplained phenomena.
DEPUTY
So like the X-files?
SHERIFF
Deputy? What’re you still doing here? Get back to the station. But first shut the fuck up. Now, get back to the station.
LEE
Sheriff Gordon is it?
SHERIFF
Yeah.
LEE
I don’t believe this is a kidnapping either, but to be thorough, you should have your men dust the entire house.
SHERIFF
Yeah. Okay. Hey guys, dust all the windows, the sills inside and out.
THE SHERIFF’S HEAVY FOOTSTEPS STOMP OFF.
LEE
Mrs. Harker, may we talk?
ASHLEY
Yes of course. I’m relieved you’re here.
LEE
I assure you I’ll use all my resources to locate your child.
ASHLEY
Don’t need your assurances, just make it happen.
LEE
Indeed. I will. I can’t help notice all of the moving boxes, did you just move in?
ASHLEY
Couple of months ago, but I haven’t had time to unpack.
LEE
Anyone here with you last night?
ASHLEY
The babysitter but she left right after I came home.
LEE
Anyone else drop by? Your ex maybe?

LEE
What time did the babysitter leave?
ASHLEY
Just after ten.
LEE
What time did your daughter go missing?
ASHLEY
Last night about ten thirty.
LEE
I see.
ASHLEY
Lucy didn’t kidnap Polly.
LEE
So you say. I’ll still need to talk to her.
ASHLEY
Yeah. Sure.

I don’t mean to shock you but seventy five percent of abducted children are killed within the first three to twenty four hours.
