Not sorry, but like we had the greatest hits episode because we were just all busy and still recovering from our big event. Nice and slow, um, we'll get into details of that later, but um, yeah, we're back, ladies and gentlemen. Uh, yeah, we're back. Tanaka, how? Are you? Feeling sir you're grinning what's what's happening?
Speaker 3:um so, man, we just been busy out. So you heard me just been busy. Um, I don't know, we just been working. I don't know what else to say other than that, yeah, it's been kind of a lot it has, bro.
Speaker 1:It's definitely been a lot, um, but you know, it's maintainable for me. I, I can't, I can't speak for everybody, but yeah, it's been maintainable for me.
Speaker 3:Um, yeah, man, just taking it one day at a time yeah, I was supposed to go to up to new york but my plans have felt through and so I was kind of just like just kind of here I was just in the wind, bro. You know what I'm saying?
Speaker 1:I didn't, I didn't plan for this, so then I was like well, now there's all these plays and everybody like, knock you're gonna be here, knock you're gonna be there you know it's funny, we're gonna actually talk about one of those plays because, um, yeah, we're gonna talk about those play when we get, when we get to that, um, but I mean, you know, other than that?
Speaker 3:well, yeah, I'm not gonna lie, I've been a little, it's been a lot of work, a lot of work definitely been a lot of work, definitely been a lot of work.
Speaker 1:um, yeah, man, yeah, it's been a lot of work, I mean I don't know about you, turnip.
Speaker 3:Have you been enjoying it? I feel like I've been busy, but I'm not mad at it per se, and that's what I was saying.
Speaker 1:Yeah, I'm not mad at it. The truth be told our situation could be a lot worse, Not saying that anything about this is bad right, I mean people have had shittier situations for sure. So for sure, you know um yeah, I'm not one to complain about what we have going on right now at all yeah, so I mean, you know what I'm saying.
Speaker 3:We here gearing up for some fun endeavors later on in the month. Yeah, you know.
Speaker 1:That's basically it. Yeah, that's basically it. So I just wanted to get this out the way. I wanted to send my condolences out to the friends and family of uh rapper enchanting about a time of recording this. Uh, she's passed away. Apparently she was on life support, for I don't know how true this is, but they said a drug overdose, but uh, that's. It hasn't been like, uh hasn't been. Uh said by a lot of different people, so I'm assuming that's not official. Just wanted to send my condolences out to the friends and family of Enchanting Absolutely.
Speaker 3:I actually have a side question for you, serna. This just sparked this. I didn't know what she passed or what, the cause and all that, but you said drug overdose that's what I seen, but I only said it on one news platform that said that.
Speaker 3:But just in general, you know I know we've all spoken on how you know drugs and alcohol and weed and all these that that's real prevalent. You know in the hood that while, yeah, they, they do enjoy it or whatever, it's really you know a uh coping mechanism from all the, all the you know traumas that they have to experience. You know and witness right growing up in that environment. I was gonna ask you do you think that tattoos Are also a coping mechanism?
Speaker 1:Um A coping Mechanism. I don't think. It's necessarily a coping mechanism. I See people like Do people do that? Like, do people like when they get stressed, they're like, oh, let me go get a tattoo. Is that a thing? I mean because if that's a thing, then yeah, I guess it would be, but I didn't.
Speaker 3:Yeah, I didn't really think about it, but when I sat back and really thought about it and thought about just how many folks like you know what I'm saying, like be in jail or in the hood and all that really be tatted up for real and I'm just like dang, like that could also be somewhat of a coping mechanism. I feel like you know, and, um, I did speak to an individual who did say that you heard me, so that is just a coping mechanism that it was.
Speaker 3:You know, I'm saying that it was a coping and I was like dang that's crazy, because I was. That was just something like one day I was kind of sitting back just like thinking about, like right.
Speaker 3:Nobody had to tell you that, yeah, like yeah, I was just like dang, like you know, I see, this this is a common thing like, maybe that's like a, you feel me like almost like they just put that pain on them. You know, I'm saying that they've been going through whatever, whatever, and I didn't Because it's like, it's crazy, because a lot of stuff folks will do and they won't even realize like the deeper meaning to it. You know what I'm saying, right? And then like so, yeah, so I just like dang, like that's kind of crazy. Like, don't get me wrong, of course there's folk out there that just like artwork, you know, on their body and stuff, like that, right, but um, yeah, it was just kind of wild to think about, you know, just kind of wild to think about for real. And um, anyway, I just I just interested to see what your perspective on that that was, you know I mean it's, it's interesting.
Speaker 1:Um, I would have never thought about it in that perspective because I mean, as you see, I don't have any fucking tattoos. But, it being a coping mechanism, I just thought it honestly. I thought it was more of an addiction than a coping, like more of just oh, I just oh, this part of my arm is naked, I need to cover it up, right. That type of deal and.
Speaker 1:I mean, I guess in some senses it could be that, but yeah, I never thought. It's like oh man, I had a bad day at work, let's go get a tattoo.
Speaker 3:Yeah but I mean I guess, I guess it could be.
Speaker 1:But yeah, man, I didn't want to dwell too much on the bad. Like I said, my condolences to Enchanting and our family and friends and all that.
Speaker 3:That joint is wild, though we really think about when Gucci came out with that new 1017.
Speaker 1:I kind of didn't want to make that the question of the day because I don't want to shit on Gucci.
Speaker 3:I'm just saying it's wild though, because, like we, we was there. You feel me for the rollout, that whole.
Speaker 1:You know rollout is nuts, yeah, and just to see where it's at, yeah, folks are saying that like he's low key and not okay, and because I know let me let me explain myself before folks take this and run with it. Yeah, but folks are saying that, like gucci is kind of the the new diddy, oh dang, but not, not in the sense the nuisance yeah, not the nuisance, more of like how folks had the bad boy curse right, right, like it was like they're having a 10, 17 curse.
Speaker 1:And true be told, there's some legs to that. Yeah, like folks are.
Speaker 3:I mean, there's only two people that died, but I mean well, actually three if we're counting slim duncan but um, and everybody else is in jail right um right or just not relevant or they just, they just drop off and do nothing but uh yeah, it's, yeah it's.
Speaker 1:It's very interesting, especially and it'll set. And it's really sad because I remember what I'm well today at gold rush. I don't Rush, I played the 10-17 loaded. I'm looking at it, I'm like God damn.
Speaker 3:Are any of these folks still on the label? None, I don't think so.
Speaker 1:And if they are, they're in jail or prison. Is Fugiano and Poo Shiesty still signed to them?
Speaker 3:I don't even know. Yeah, I don't even know. Man, that's crazy.
Speaker 1:Yeah, but yeah, man, my condolences to Enchanting. Yeah, definitely, truth be told, I didn't even know that she wasn't signed to them anymore. I just thought she just wasn't making music like she was, or some shit. I don't know.

Speaker 1:But in a more positive note. I know folks don't like to talk about death, but I mean, I guess in one sense she's with scar because she was real hurt about him losing him yeah, apparently they was real close, like you know. I'm saying just like I didn't know that yeah well until he passed away and then, like I just seen, like a flooded like him on the page. Um, but yeah, but yeah, man um in a better place, um no, yeah, my condolences to her and her family for real.
Speaker 1:Yeah, um, in other news, I did want to run through some things that like we're not things, but some, some places and events we've done since the last episode, which was the denzel curry episode. Um, and was crazy, it's crazy. And you said this. I remember you said this a couple episodes ago. Well, we always say this couple episodes when we do these updates. It's like, damn, I feel like that was. It's so much happened that it feels like it was so long ago. The fucking Cascade Headphone Party, exactly, you remember that party. You remember that party. Yeah, that was shout out to DJ Drip. He was handing out the party. I mean, he was handing out the parties. He was handing out the headphones, yep.
Speaker 3:Exactly, boy, that joint Right See, and that's a testament to how busy we've been. Cause, boy that joint feels like.

Because, truth be told, the situation he went through at Cascade, had that happened to me, I just would have had to wrap it up and go home. Speaker 3:But nah, man, yeah, don't fall. You know them, boys, they got me. You know I'm saying they got my head. You know they done bust Bust in my back Passenger window. They were looking for that Glock. You know what I'm saying, cause he had a shiesty mask on. But you know there's nowhere, nowhere to be found. You know Only napkins and my Willy Wonka cane, you know so, which they didn't even take they didn't even say it, you know what I'm saying so I thought he had blickies because he had the blicky mask on.

Speaker 3:So I had them black diamonds for sale. You feel me, if anybody want to cop them black diamonds, you know I had that right they all gone now.

Speaker 3:All gone now, yeah, he sold out now but I don't know, in that situation, bro, I just like, look man, like what can I? Who can I be mad? Like? Can I be mad at security? Yeah, I guess I could, because then, fuck, jay watched that joint and you know didn't chase nobody down. But it's like, at the end of the day, you know they just scary like I can't. You know it's out of my control, you know they didn't get no type of license plate.

Speaker 3:I was joking but um, but say, you know, um, I don't know. I just feel like there's not much I could do. There's no video. I don't think they got cameras and all that they definitely don't you know.
Speaker 3:so it's like you know, I just had to charge into the game man. You know this is what I signed up for. You know, owning a car, you dig and a shysty mask these things are liable to happen, you hear me Especially you dig and a shysty mask. These things are liable to happen, especially if you walk out your car with a shysty mask.
Speaker 3:So you know, yeah, it means to me, and you know I just had to learn about getting a replacement window. You know that process and learn how that goes. So that was um interesting to learn about but shout out to other streets.
Speaker 1:Anr um, that we got. You got that fixed pretty quickly. I did I did.
Speaker 3:I didn't end up using her plug, but you know, oh, you didn't so wait.
Speaker 1:Where'd you end up going?
Speaker 3:um, I think, another source that gave me well, I don't even know Really like a whole bunch of folks that looked up some stuff and sent to me, and when I realized that there was closer plugs, that was on my side of town, I just went with that, right, I didn't realize that um bro didn't even have he's a mobile person, he don't even have like a headquarters tight joint. Oh, he just pulled up on you, yeah, pulled up, and knocked it out in like 30 minutes, bruh, like, yeah, right though, you hear me, so I was like and so does he do that like just everywhere in Atlanta, like he'll just pull up on you.
Speaker 3:I feel like I think he stays. I want to say I don't know it's for a fact, but I feel like he's staying, marietta, you know? I'm saying then, just whoever calls him, he kind of just bases it off of like how far he has to go and be like okay, I probably could get to you, like, if you want to eat, so I could probably get to you like 4 pm or something.
Speaker 3:You know what I mean, that type of thing, just kind of like laying out his schedule, all the people he got to knock out, you know, replace the windows and all that so. But he seen I was, I was probably just up the street from him, so he was like, oh yeah, I could be there in, like, you know, good, like 40 minutes or something, and showing up, bro, he pulled up and uh, you know, I I didn't know how long this process was gonna take. You did. Um, it was definitely, uh, you know, not during the times that I'm usually awake. This was probably like 10 am 11 am or something that time 10 am.
Speaker 3:You know that that's like the heart of when I be knocked out. You heard me. So you know, boy, didn't I learn that the hard way? And so, yeah, so you know, um, so yeah, so basically, um, you know, I had to. Yeah, man, I didn't expect it to be that quick. He was, he knocked it out. You know what I'm saying. So, so, yeah, man, you know.

Speaker 3:Okay, that was more I just felt like it was like a duel, so so, even if it wasn't, I mean there was kids from his. Like I'm saying, even if he wasn't graduating so like, and it was just his birthday, like you, y'all usually do that I mean not that I know of true be told, but like uh or was it because it was like a milestone birthday, like 18 birthday, like maybe I feel like that was just because, yeah, because I don't remember seeing anything about shadow class 2024 or anything like that.
Speaker 1:It was just 18 everywhere.
Speaker 3:So okay, see, I just I don't know. You know what it is. It's probably because it's like it's kind of it's in the it's an area, so I was just like it's all in the same yeah, makes sense.
Speaker 1:But yeah, shout out to shout jayden turning 18. He's uh I forgot what school he said he's going to, but he uh getting into barber and all that good shit. And Shout out DJ Drip For Starting off the party.

Speaker 3:how, if you were to estimate how many folks you know dressed up? You know see, I wasn't able to make if it was 300 people in there, I'd probably say 50, 60 maybe 70, maybe maybe like 40 I don't know, somewhere around that number. Speaker 3:So I cut the music off. It was a whole bunch of commotion, man, they trying to get everybody settled down. Vaughn had to hop the wall to. You know what I'm saying? Get a hold, break them folk up. So we all discuss it and we and DJ Boo are in trouble with Vaughn. And I'm like that ain't Vaughn, I ain't know you. Security too, bro. He's like bro twin, this is crazy bro. I'm done with the glide bro. This is crazy bro. And as soon as he's telling me this, all I hear in the background is I'm PDK and another fight breaks out you know what I'm saying, like these two guys dudes getting into it.
Speaker 3:So Vaughn had to go around there and like hold Holmes back and like I was like man, shout out to Vaughn shout out to Vaughn shout out to Vaughn bro for being double duty security yeah. Dome being Golden. Goliath, but then at the same time, he's not you feel me heart and soul to Goliath man, that boy, dj Vaughn man, salute to him, shout out to him, then you got Mr Robert. Oh man, that's bringing back memories, and not good ones. So what are you?
Speaker 1:talking about. I kind of figured what he's talking about. So next, on the what the fuck have Tanaka and Turner been doing list? You brought up a point about you not you having an event, it falling through and you just kind of just going with the wind. Yeah, man, and the wind blows you all the way to Canton, georgia. Let's talk about it. Oh dang I already forgot about that that's crazy.

Speaker 3:Southern Honor Wrestling man. This was quite the experience. It was a little intense. When I first went in there, you know, I didn't know if it was like. I didn't know if it was because I was Asian. I didn't know what it was. You know, I definitely knew I was in a certain area of georgia. Yeah, he's in the cotton eye joe area, but um, aside from all that, I mean I enjoyed myself. You know this was my first time.
Speaker 1:Uh, I guess really going to like a wrestling joint for real, you know yeah, and, truth be told, like I'm not one to push my activities on anybody like if you say you're not into it.
Speaker 1:I'm never gonna bring it up and you would never even know that I'm a fan, unless you come to my house. Like if you come to my house you're obviously gonna see it when you're walking around. But like, truth be told, if I know you don't fuck with it. Like I'm like what's the point of me bringing it up? I'm not gonna. God damn, I'm not. I'm not an advocate for wrestling, I'm not that big of a fan that I'm be like yo you need to be doing like I don't give a fuck about that.
Speaker 1:However, if you're interested, I'll tell you all the tidbits about it and, yeah, we'll figure something out. You know, it just so happened that Tanaka wasn't doing nothing, breezy wasn't doing nothing and, lord knows, breezy ass. Breezy has been asking me about this spot for like two years, and I'm not joking two years. Oh, I didn't know that it's been about a year or two years, so he been like oh, where's my invite?
Speaker 3:where's my invite? You don't never, tell me, invite me to this wrestling thing.
Speaker 1:So you finally didn't have nothing to do. You don't never tell you invite me to this wrestling thing, exactly so you finally have nothing to do. You don't work for jamming djs no more crazy.
Speaker 3:So it just so happened that this is like the first time I done asked about it, and then he right, and so we finally like right all the delinquent, it became a delinquent outing slip right.
Speaker 1:So oh, we actually we actually need to run it back. We actually need to run back because we forgot about something else. But, um, yeah, uh, yeah. So it just so happened that you were off, he was off and I was like I ain't gonna lie, I was kind of geeked. I was like dang, breezy and tanaka gonna be here for this. This is great. I mean, I was kind of I ain't gonna lie, I was kind of hesitant for you because, like breezy condo knows wrestling and I know you're like completely oblivious, like this is like hieroglyphics like you're just deer in headlights just watching like what the fuck am I experiencing?
Speaker 1:right, I'm saying like I just love and this is the, this is the funny part that he kind of, he kind of got the bait when, um, what was it? It was the part where the wrestlers, uh, were wearing the same thing and they were jumping in and out of the cask, and that's what got him hot bro, what y'all got going on bro what's up with that camera, bro?
Speaker 3:you know what I'm saying. Look, look, you know. Okay, so this. So I went into this with zero expectations. I didn't know what to expect, you feel me. So I go in there and I kind of saw turn up and tonic like how they was interacting with the joint, like you got to play into it. You know what I'm saying just to have some fun, right, but then on top of that you know what I'm saying I had to call homes out buddy, fuck over here switching the cabs.
Speaker 4:I said what y'all got going on bro. Hey ref, do your job, bro. What you doing? Bro? He's over here switching the cast. He on the wrong arm with the cast. Bro, Come on, bro, you we not finna, play no game with them, man. You know what I'm saying and the whole, you know do your job, do your job. Speaker 3:Trump, how did you I know you're a wrestling fan how did you discover Southern Honor Wrestling?
Speaker 1:So right before COVID Happened, tonic had Told me, well, not right before COVID happened, it was probably like 2019. He had told me, well, not right before kovat happened, it's probably like 2019. He had told me about southern honor wrestling, but like I was just kind of like, eh, like it's independent wrestling, I don't really give shit about that, but, um, I forgot what made you know. So there was a wrestler that he said that I was a fan of. I wasn't really a fan of her, I just thought she had a fat ass and I thought she was fine as hell. But her name was Kiera Hogan and they was like, oh yeah, kiera Hogan was there. I was like, really, check this spot out and so I went there.
Speaker 1:And so the first night they had like a steel cage match. And I'm like, whoa, they have a steel cage, because perception of independent wrestling is that you get like a whole bunch of one-on-one matches and the dudes are just I don't know, they're just whatever. And so for them to have all this extracurricular shit on there, I was like, okay, cool, I'm sold. And so I went there.
Speaker 1:I went there one time this is the first time I went was right before covid happened or it was either like a few months before covid, and so, like I remember, um, I was supposed to go to the one right before COVID, but then, like I just was like I don't feel like going. So once I uh, once COVID happened and everything shut down and then stuff started opening back up. I don't know if you, I don't know if I ever had this conversation with you, uh, tanaka, but there was one time at sparkles where I had like a mental breakdown, like a really bad mental breakdown, to the point that like I couldn't talk, I was stuttering, like folks trying to give me water, like I held the water too far and I like it spurted everywhere like it was bad, like it was like really I don't know what the fuck was going on when was what year?
Speaker 3:was this 2020, 2020?
Speaker 1:2020. Um, I would probably have a date for you, but I don't even like. Facebook deactivated my shit, so I can't. I can't give you a date, but um, that's crazy so it was like really bad.
Speaker 1:And I was like I thought I had covet, I thought it was, I thought that's what it was. I was hoping that's what it was come to find out I was negative. I was like damn. I still don't to this day I still don't know what that was. But I remember I was like, okay, maybe I'm just working too much. So there was that's when, um, I was like southern honor opened back up like they started doing more shows. I mean, they started bringing back their shows.
Speaker 1:I was like you know what, once a month, I'm gonna just make that day about me, right, and I'm gonna just we're gonna call what once a month I'm gonna just make that day about me, right, and I'm gonna just what you're gonna call it southern honor day I'm gonna just take off every first friday, and yeah, that's gonna be my off day, I guess so that was the day that that was just for me, where I was, like when I'll tell y'all hey, I'm going to the wrestling show?
Speaker 1:I'll be there right and so once I um once me and tonic got cool enough with the people, they found out that we were djs right, and at first it was just tonic. And then after that tonic couldn't do it and so like tonic was like hey, do you want to do it? And I'm like hell yeah, dj for wrestling. Hell fuck, let's do it. So once that happened, I did it and then, like both of us started doing it and then both of us started doing it at the same time and yeah, it's just kind of been Wrestling history type shit.
Speaker 3:So so they show the replay of like these matches online.
Speaker 1:So yeah, they actually so shout out to. Oh my fuck. Why am I forgetting the name? Why am I? Oh shout out to iw tv. That's where they like put all the shows that was actually funny. Like I said, when I watch iw tv I be looking for when they catch us right, so like I have like.

He told me he was like hey, so we have this idea for a match and, um, what we're gonna do is we're gonna have you um, so okay. So I'll give you a little backstory. So there's this wrestler. He's no longer with us.
Speaker 1:His name is New Jack and he was like uh, he was like a hardcore wrestler for my people that know wrestling um, and his thing was his gimmick was that, like he would, anytime he would wrestle. He would wrestle with his theme song playing throughout the whole match. Like the thing, the song is playing throughout the whole match. He's fucking slinging motherfuckers with like chairs and kendo sticks, guitars, whatever the fuck. And the song natural born killers by dr dre and ice cube is playing the whole time. So the get the. What they wanted to do was they wanted to have like a new jack vibe where a song is playing the whole time and he's like hey, so we have this idea that we want you to um, we want you to, uh, be at the um, be at your dj booth while the match is going on and pretend like you're playing the music. So what's gonna happen is?
Speaker 1:the wrestlers are gonna come to you and be like uh, shout out to huck he was. He said, um, he's gonna be like dj, play the music. And like you, do this and press the music and party up. They're gonna play party up on the loudspeakers his name was huck yeah, huckabee, yeah, I yeah oh man, and there goes huck.
Speaker 4:He's going to the dj to tell him to play his anthem and here he goes.

And I didn't think about that until then. I feel like they had said something and I was like, oh, yeah, I mean that could have, that could have went a little better, yeah, but true, be told, we weren't late. We were like it was like, well, yeah, yeah, I mean fuck. I mean yeah, we weren't late, we, we made it, we made it happen.
Speaker 1:Um, uh, yeah, but I ain't gonna lie, bro, by that point, my adrenaline, my adrenaline was pumping like my joint was at like, my heartbeat was at like 119, 120, 125, like my adrenaline. I had to calm myself down. Um, I mean, eventually I did. It was just a lot going on. Um, well, not really a lot going on, because it really was nothing going on at the moment, but like it was just uh, um, um, just a lot to take in and a lot was about to happen because the folks were already parking line pimping outside right, and I saw that because I kept walking back and forth, I kept leaving shit in my car and every time I'd walk outside it'd be like five cars every time.
Speaker 1:It'd be five cars each every time I come outside, and it was just, yeah, it was a lot going on nah, it definitely was as far as the night goes, I feel like it went as smoothly as it could, for sure, yeah, the only nitpick I have, I feel like the merch should have been in the front where everybody could see it. And yeah, and one other nitpick I probably would have was folks, I guess, had the roses on the floor and they were spilling it on the floor and we almost had to shut down the floor because of that floor and we almost had to shut down the floor because of that. But luckily we have Mo.
Speaker 1:That's like this is nice and slow, kind of don't want to shut down the floor for some roses so just kind of nip that, scoot those to the side real quick, make sure the floor is straight and yeah, but everything went fine oh and not to mention the fucking string just stopped in the middle of the joint but I mean that was like I said, all these are like minor, like really minor things, like I wasn't worried about most of these things.
Speaker 1:But I mean this, this, those things separate like a great night from a perfect night. What, and I mean I mean none of us are perfect, but you know it was a good night great night. Everybody had a good time. Uh, we were getting pictures at the end and all that shit, so you know everybody had a good time.

He was actually supposed to come out with an album but I mean, truth be told, anything on SOD, which was Jabari's mixtape. He does have a video for this song. The video is just him really walking around as he's like singing and as he's singing like stuff is just popping up around him, like he's on some like great screen type shit, as he as he Phrases. It's a lots of color and a lot of animation.
Speaker 1:Besides some people from SOD and Soulja Boy, obviously, because Soulja Boy is like a feature on his own, killer Mike makes a cameo Very random cameo. Killer Mike. Gotta support the youth, yeah. And Soulja Boy is supposed to be the director of this video. It shows him in the director's seat at the end. According to Jabbar's 97.9 Jams interview, he wrote the song on a promo tour for I Saw the Boy Tell Him, which, for the people that don't know, I Saw the Boy Tell Him was Soulja Boy's second album. He was sitting in the back of the tour bus while everyone was asleep, thinking about what he could tell his girl while he was sleeping. As soon as he got off the tour, he recorded it and, uh, christmas 2008, he presented the song to soldier boy, and soldier boy loved it.

Speaker 3:League. Oh damn, man missing out, missing out, turning up but this is.
Speaker 1:But this is what I'm saying, though. Why couldn't he have made this album? But go ahead. I'm sorry, my bad.
Speaker 3:Go ahead. I feel you. No, I'm not going to lie, I feel you. I feel you it was. It was yeah, I'm not going to lie, I'm a huge Psy High fan. So came out and, like brah, I was so geeked up, I was in class and I was discovering this and I'm just like could not focus in class because I was so excited.
Speaker 3:But, um, but now, black history project it was. It was kind of a conceptual project. Um, basically, what the concept was is that his nephew apparently had came up to him and asked him to help him out with a project, and so it inspired him to come up with a mixtape that kind of honored just black heroes and um, hence why you know some of these folks, you know, like huey and mandela, um barry white, you know bosquiat, like those are titles of records on the on the project. You know, in my eyes, I feel like this was the perfect kind of prelude to an album. Unfortunately, this mixtape came out in 2014. We didn't get the album until like 2017. So I was kind of bummed about that, because it was like dang, like if he had dropped the album after this tape, like I feel like he would have been a lot bigger.
Speaker 3:But because that didn't happen, it kind of stalled the momentum, um, but from a music musicality standpoint, I feel like this project was the best out of all his mixtapes. Um, I don't know, there was just a uh, there was a a good kind of like match of like soul and production in the, in the beats, like um, I don't know. I just feel like some of the other projects he's had like the beats were like, they was cool. You know what I'm saying. But as as as flowing, as like a whole project, I don't think that it all necessarily worked.
Speaker 3:You know, like he had good concepts and don't trust me like good cuts that I feel like you could throw on a playlist and you could. You know vibes who would be cool, but when listening to a whole mixtape or project, I feel like sometimes it didn't quite always fit together. But I feel like this one was the best, most cohesive mixtape that he had. And I don't know it's just dope hip hop, you feel me. I feel like this is Psy, high, high, you know, uh, because that's always been the biggest knock on side. You know he could freestyle his ass off, but you know, as far as making enjoyable music that you could listen to and stuff you know. Big steve was, uh, one of those that you know.
Speaker 1:I feel like he couldn't make any good music you know, I'm saying like which is odd. I feel like he's really underrated.
Speaker 3:With that, I feel like he actually can make good music right, because that's why and that's why big c was always such a big crit fan over side, because he felt like crit made better music than side high better songs. Yeah, that was, that was, that was his opinion on that. So, um, but I mean this tape. You know huey, uh, you know he does the classic. You know, um, what is that? Who's the? Who's the best? Me, me, g, what do you say? Me, three stack. Yeah, you know what I'm saying? Something.

Speaker 3:I mean, yeah, sounds alright. And then Mandelaela. It's crazy because, when I thought about it, mandela is really um, how do I put this? If og bobby johnson is like the street version, like mandela is like the activist, yeah, like the activist version of OG Bobby Johnson. That's interesting, cause it kind of like, I don't know, for some reason, between those two songs I feel like they got similarities. I don't know, I would have to go back and listen to them and line them up for real, but but yeah, he was, he was definitely, you know, flowing on that joint. Napoleon is just really a freestyle in which he's, you know, just going off with, you know, double and triple entendres, going crazy. Basquiat actually samples that house song that we Soho, yeah, I forgot how I found out about that song.
Speaker 1:Yeah, you know what's crazy, tanaka, and you probably don't even remember this, yeah dude, there was a song I played for soulful sunday and it was a side high song do you remember what song it was that I played, but I feel like you were singing it word for word. You were a hell of geek that I played damn um you were definitely skating, you were skating it was rise, wasn't it? No, I feel like it was something because it was random and rise is like kind of slower it's like 80 something, it's like 89.

Speaker 3:I mean, that would make sense, because I've thought about playing that joint at the rink, you know, just because I feel like that's something skaters could skate to as well, you know. But but yeah, basquiat just basically speaks on, he rather, you know, he doing it for the people, doing it for the art and not so much about the fame and, you know, money. But there's really, I really don't feel like there's any misses on this project, cause there's a lot of soulful records too, and and which you know, um, you know, I just think that it was well put together in terms of having a mix of records that are uptempo and you know, ones that he just flexes with the bars, but then also, you know, inspiring and, um, talking about you know, different societal stuff. You know, like Barry White is a flip on Barry White, so like, obviously you know the singer, barry White, but also talking about cocaine and just uh, how, how it's kind of, you know, damaged communities and stuff like that, and talking about that whole whole situation.
Speaker 3:Um, and then, you know, is it me, you know, is where he just uh be questioning a lot of things. You know how all these rappers tend to sound the same, and what are we really talking about, you know? And I think there's a record, good Night and let me see there's some other records I'm not missing out here. Yeah, this is a record. Good night caretta side, that young is really kind of like his most personal track. I feel like that kind of tells this whole story. And then, uh, the project ends off with Black Pride and I feel like it was a fitting end. You know so. But yeah, man, this is one of my favorite PsyHot projects for sure, and I would probably put this number two, I think, out of all the projects I've heard from Psy.

So, um, they would probably be Probably be next in line as far as Top projects From them, right, but yeah, that's my album of the day. Make sure you go check it out, man. So I'm one of the dopest hip-hop artists that I feel doesn't get the recognition. But, you know, to the people that are critics, I can give them some weight, you know, because he has made the people wait and, um, we are once again waiting for the second album, which was promised, I believe, like three or four years ago, and here we are still waiting. But you know, his last album was 2017 and it is now 2024. But apparently he is finishing up the mixing of the album and somebody commented and said it doesn't take six years to mix, it's so hard. You want a hell of a mix.

Speaker 1:I'm assuming they're a part of it. Just as much as you know what Tanaka, fuck it. Give me all the perspectives.
Speaker 3:Okay. So if it's a joint like Nice and Slow, like how me and Turnip came up with the event and we're in collaboration with a ring, I feel like we need to do a lot of promotion. But if this is something that just like we were selected to do and it wasn't really our idea to come up with it, I feel if it's like, uh, if it's like you know, like for the love of skating, or like skate-a-thon, and they selected us to be a part of that, I feel like the promotion doesn't have to be as heavy. You know, just because that's not our event technically, you know, we just selected for it, but it but um, yeah, that's my viewpoint on it.
Speaker 1:You know, right, I mean truth be told you kind of kind of hit it on the head. I yeah me personally I feel like like we just we're just playing the music, right, and we might tell our like close ones, hey, this is where I'm gonna be at tonight and that's when I might promote it and that's why.
Speaker 3:That's why I had to explain, you know, to the owner that we work with at stone mountain skates, because it's like, um, you know, he had stressed to us that he didn't like seeing us so stressed out and running around, you know, and all that. But I had to explain to him. I was like, look like that's what me and turno signed up for. Like, this is our event, you know, and we understand that it's gonna get stressful. We have a lot of responsibilities on our plate that we had to take care of. And this is different, you know, from skate-a-thon and stuff like that, because this is not a situation where we just come in and play the music. You know, we have a lot of other things that we're responsible for.
Speaker 3:Uh, being that we put this together, you know, with skate athon, them, djs, you know, they just get the time that they have to dj the night rink, all that come in, do their job and they gone. You know what I mean. But, being that we put it together, you know, we we have to run around and make sure this is okay and this and that you know. But I feel like myself, internal, we both came in with the mentality that it's what we signed up for. We ready to do the job. You know it come. It come with the territory you dig. So word.
