Our First Year - Columbia College Chicago
The Mission of the Peer Support Program is to increase the success and retention rates of first-year Columbia College Chicago students. The program connects first-year students with upper-class peer mentors. Peer mentors coordinate opportunities for students to become acclimated to the campus and Chicago area, as well as to develop their personal, academic, social and cultural experiences through programming and guidance. This podcast is filled with advice and experiences of students on how they navigated their transition to Columbia.

30. Book Club Episode 1: We Will Not Cancel Us: And Other Dreams of Transformative Justice” by adrienne maree brown
The Peer Support program Presents our first Book Club episode of Our First Year!
The goal of this series is to provide our listeners with the information and tools held in books and give it back to you all. It is meant encourage the act of reading, but you do not need to read any of the books we discuss to listen. We will talk about a book we love and see how the information applies to us as college students.
The first book we discuss is “We Will Not Cancel Us: And Other Dreams of Transformative Justice” by adrienne maree brown, a book that reframes the discussion of “cancel culture” for us, in a way that points to possible paths beyond this impasse.
