Speaker 1:

Hey, welcome back to the show. It's your host, sabrina Rogers, and I wanted to just get out this shorter episode just so that you aren't missing out on future events. So, looking ahead at the calendar, national Eating Disorder Awareness Week is going to be February 26th through March 3rd, and us folks at the Eating Disorder Coalition of Iowa have some really great things planned that week and I wanted to pop in to your ears and share some of that information so that you can get registered for two of our big events before you lose out. And then I'm gonna come back the week of February 26th to talk more about eating disorders, because you know that is my passion. That is where this podcast actually got its originations, and I also don't want you to miss out and get you registered right now. So we're gonna do this quick episode and I just wanted to share with you a little bit about these really exciting events that the EDCI has going on. So let's just go through that.

Speaker 1:

On March 1st, which is a Friday, we welcome healthcare providers to attend a full day conference to explore the intersection of weight stigma and eating disorders, as well as improve patient care to individuals in larger bodies. We are looking for physicians, nurses, dietitians, mental health care providers All of you are encouraged to register and receive continuing education units for your attendance, and we have some really, really, really exciting news this year. We are beyond thrilled to announce that this day of training will be led by renowned weight and health care expert, reagan Chesting. Now, if you are in the non-diet space health at every size, intuitive eating realm at all you might know Reagan and a lot of us over at EDCI are in like total fangirl mode, myself included, and I would really really love to bring her on the podcast so that she can share some of her wealth of information with all of you listeners. So fingers crossed I can get her to agree to come on the show, because you will not be disappointed in that.

Speaker 1:

Let me share a little bit more of the conference details for March 1st. The title is weight and health care eliminating weight stigma and promoting weight neutral care and eating disorder treatment. We are holding it at Grandview University in Des Moines, iowa, so if you are within a driving distance, please register and come spend the day with me. Purpose is a full day of live dietic and interactive education geared toward increasing awareness and competency in working with patients in larger bodies and reducing weight stigma. We are asking you to register for the event at our website and you can find that information in the show notes. Cancellations will be refunded up to one week prior to the event. Registration includes six hours of continuing education, a light breakfast, beverages and snacks and a yummy, yummy lunch. We had our fall conference at Grandview and their lunch was amazing. For those foodies, you're gonna really appreciate this conference, but also lunch is wonderful too. So who is this geared for? We're looking for health care providers, including physicians, nurses, social workers, counselors, psychologists, dietitians and any other allied professionals. Individuals in recovery, caregivers, coaches, teachers and community members are welcome to attend for non-CEU participation. So even if you aren't a health care provider and you're listening to this and you are within driving distance of Des Moines and you want to come, listen and learn from Regan, please come. You're welcome.

Speaker 1:

Then, on Saturday March 2nd, we're holding more of a community focused workshop. So Friday is more about health care providers and Saturday is more about community members. However, you can come to one or both days, regardless of what realm you're in. So on Saturday March 2nd, edci invites individuals in recovery, caregivers, educators, coaches, community members and providers to attend a half-day community workshop regarding eating disorder treatment and recovery. We're gonna have Regan Chastain back and she's going to provide a keynote presentation navigating weight stigma support and advocacy in eating disorder prevention, treatment and recovery. We also have two additional sessions to assist participants in better understanding eating disorders, receive answers to questions regarding treatment and recovery, and address body image concerns. We're offering these presentations at an extremely low cost of $10 in order to ensure this event is accessible for all. Feedback that we've gotten from previous community events has been overwhelmingly positive and participants share that they have learned a great deal from our educational workshops. So, again, this is going to be at Grandview University in Timoyne. We ask that you register ahead and I'm going to put the link for more information on both of these events in the show notes and then there's also going to be that link to register for either or both of these events.

Speaker 1:

Now that we know that Reagan Chastain is coming, let me share a little bit about Reagan.
