Building Disease Resistance in Dairy Cattle with Dr. Angel Abuelo

Michigan GROWN, Michigan GREAT Season 5 Episode 34

Like humans, dairy cattle are more susceptible to disease when they are newborns. Dr. Angel Abuelo, an associate professor at Michigan State University, researches immunity for calves and pregnant cows to improve health and productivity. He joins us on the podcast to talk about vaccines, his research and how MSU Extension works to promote agriculture to consumers.

"They [vaccines] go through a very thorough vetting process before they get to the market and before we as veterinarians or producers can use it on animals. They are definitely safe." - Dr. Angel Abuelo
