Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
In this enlightening podcast, Amit Garg speaks with Guy Wallace, Performance Analyst and Instructional Architect for Enterprise Learning, on how to bring performance focus to training. Guy holds about 40 years of enriching experience as an external consultant and has conducted over 250 projects for over 80 clients including fortune 500 companies. He is well known for his consulting work, writings, and presentations on both performance analysis and curriculum architecture design.
Guy places a heavy premium on performance focus. He believes that learning should always be performance-oriented and focused on what the output is going to be. That is, the learner must quickly be able to take that learning and transfer it back onto their job. He also shares some L&D challenges that have been around since the start and still continue to exist - not investing in analysis/discovery, not measuring results, or not creating exclusive content, to name a few.
Some discussion points from this podcast are listed below:
- Challenges in performance orientation
- Focus on tasks and not topics
- Integration of instructional learning perspectives with business orientation
