Speaker 1:

Hello and welcome to Circular Parks podcast, episode number 102. Today we are discussing five reasons of why to love Adventureland. Now we're doing five reasons each. We may have the same five. They may be different.

Speaker 2:

I highly doubt that we do.

Speaker 1:

There is far too much to see and do. We are here to help guide you through, but before we do that, we must talk Disney merch. So this week on Disney merch, as some of you may have seen on our social media stories, I shared what this week's Disney merch would be, and it is the Enchanted Tiki Room bracelet.

Speaker 2:

And the tiki tiki, tiki tiki. Hold on. Well, it's a bangle.

Speaker 1:

It's a bangle bracelet, so it's a famous treat, inspires a fashionable accessory. With this pineapple swirl bangle, the repeat pattern of the iconic Adventureland frozen snack. On the exterior and on the interior side it says Walt Disney's Enchanted Tiki Room, with like kind of looks like a stamp almost. It makes this wooden bracelet just so sweet, and I don't think I have seen it in the past, so I don't know how long this bangle's been out. Yes, continue. Oh, my goodness. So yeah, you play in the tiki room. So currently, you know, when I posted it a couple of days ago, it it is back to $29.99. So again, you can find it on ShopDisneycom and I just think it's super cute. I love Dole Whips when I'm there. We like the Tiki Room. It's a chance to get out of the heat, so that is why I picked it as this week's Disney Merch.

Speaker 2:

Thank you, everybody, everybody for joining us. Episode number one zero two five reasons to love Adventureland, one of our favorite lands in all of the parks. I think it's definitely in my top five.

Speaker 1:

It is, it is.

Speaker 2:

And I'm Zach.

Speaker 1:

I'm Brittany.

Speaker 2:

And we do this show every week. We talk about Disney, our love for Disney. We try to help you have a better vacation when you go to Walt Disney World by slowing down and enjoying the story more and the little things instead of rush, rush, rush from attraction to attraction. And we try to, you know, bring you to Disney for 45 minutes to an hour every week and help you escape your everyday life.

Speaker 1:

Yes, it helps us escape, helps us escape too.

Speaker 2:

So we have merchandise now.

Speaker 1:

We do?

Speaker 2:

We're on TeePublic. There is a link on our website that takes you directly to our store. It's just our logo. But you know we've got t-shirts, hoodies, stickers, coffee mugs, magnets, all that. So if you want to help support the show, go buy some merchandise all that.

Speaker 1:

So if you want to help support the show, go buy some merchandise. That'll really help us out. Yes, and for t-shirts, there's different colors you can select. I will say, like the beige, creamy color, like, compared to the gray one that I got, um, the beige seems to pop out a little more, uh, but I'm interested in getting a coffee mug because I'm just that type of person. I love coffee mugs. So I'm not just saying it because it's our stuff, but you know it's our logo and what better way to drink coffee?

Speaker 2:

And help support the team. Yes, all right, so we're going to Adventureland. So join us as we go to Adventureland for this podcast. It's a little weak there. There we go. Five reasons to love Adventureland I've got five, brittany's got five. I'm sure we probably have a couple that overlap Probably. But you know me, I can't just go basic. No, you never. I never can go basic.

Speaker 1:

Not even on our date night.

Speaker 2:

So let's get into this. You want to start off, or you want me to start off?

Speaker 1:

I can go.

Speaker 2:

All right.

Speaker 1:

All right, so first on my list of why I like Adventureland.

Speaker 2:

Love.

Speaker 1:

Love Adventureland.

Speaker 2:

This is love, not like Love love love.

Speaker 1:

Well, I do love what I'm about to talk about. So is Aloha Isle to get Dole Whips.

Speaker 1:

Now, the reason why I like this location more than even Polynesian is because they usually have a swirl. You can get that's pineapple and coconut, and that is my absolute favorite. It's very refreshing, it helps me cool down. I just thoroughly enjoy it, and so that's always like one of the very first things that pops in my head when I personally think of Adventureland. There was one trip that I did not go here for a Dole Whip and I was just so like distraught over it because it's just kind of become a tradition for me.

Speaker 2:

Okay, so I'm going to stay along the same path there. So aloha isle is the one in magic kingdom, right, I get between that and the aloha isles and magic kingdom pineapple, and I is the one in pollination, so I'm kind of going along the same path here okay sunshine tree terrace. Yes, so did you know sunshine.

Speaker 1:

The original sunshine tree terrace is where aloha isle is now okay so it's moved a bit right, and they're not far from each other now.

Speaker 2:

No but sunshine tree terrace is, as you enter, adventureland from the hub. And again, this is no in particular. No in particular order. But I'm kind of piggybacking off what britney said yeah, I wasn't completely done.

Speaker 1:

Continue.

Speaker 2:

No, you go ahead. No, you had stopped talking, so I had assumed you were done.

Speaker 1:

I paused for a minute.

Speaker 2:

It's fine Go ahead, go ahead, continue, no, no no. Continue.

Speaker 1:

So I was also going to say, for those of you that aren't familiar with Aloha, there's different flavors other than what I mentioned as well. Aloha Isle there's different flavors other than what I mentioned as well. They kind of change them. You know, there might be a strawberry, there might be a raspberry, then of course your pineapple, there's a vanilla and coconut and you can get it just strictly the Dole Whip, or they have floats and like pineapple upside down cake with your choice of one of the Dole Whip flavors. So just wanted to throw that out there. You know, some people might be like I don't really know if I want just this. Well, there's those other options as well. So just wanted to say that, Okay, so Sunshine.

Speaker 2:

Tree Terrace is to the right-hand side as you enter Adventureland from the hub Right, it is just after you pass Club 33, which, if you're wondering, as you enter Adventureland from the hub Right, it is just after you pass Club 33, which, if you're wondering, as you enter Adventureland, there's like a little tap, like magic band tapper on the right-hand side. That's the entrance to Club 33.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, you have to have special access.

Speaker 2:

We'll never know that life. But the original Sunshine Tree Terrace was where Aloha Isle is now and they used to have an orange bird mascot out there Because they had a big sponsorship with the Florida Citrus Commission. It started in 1971. Yes, so orange is big for Disney, right? Florida's got a lot of oranges. California, where they built Disneyland, where orange grows. So the orange bird never speaks or tweets. Do you know how it communicates, how it only thinks. It has thoughts that are related to oranges. Oh, so you see, like a little cloud above their head, they're always thinking something orange.

Speaker 1:

Okay.

Speaker 2:

So the partnership ended in 1987 and the orange bird made a brief reappearance in 2012 and then back again permanently since 2015. The orange bird is well known now all over the parks. Yes, you'll see it. It's the mascot for Flower and Garden Festival in Epcot and you will see references to orange bird all over Walt Disney World. There was an orange bird mural in Disney Springs and there is a little orange bird mascot in Sunshine Tree Terrace now. So just a little cool history about the Orange Bird and kind of wonder why is this weird orange thing a thing in Walt Disney World and that's why.

Speaker 2:

But the menu it's just a little snack place but it has really a pretty diverse menu. You can get an Orange Bird Sipper Float or just an Orange Bird Sipper served with Dole Whip Orange. This is where you're going to get your Orange Creamsicle Dole Whip and this is where you're going to get your orange creamsicle Dole Whip. And this is what I like. Forget Aloha Isle, I want the orange Dole Whip. They also have fried potstickers, which we've had them before and they're really good.

Speaker 1:

They are.

Speaker 2:

But you can get your Dole Whip Orange Cup. Dole Whip Strawberry Cup. Chocolate Soft Serve Orange Cream Soft Serve Cup. Dole Whip Orange Cup. Chocolate Soft Serve Orange Cream Soft Serve Cup. Dole Whip Orange. This is what I get. I get the Orange Cream Soft Serve.

Speaker 1:

And he's always had a thing for like Orange Sherbert and sorbets and creamsicles and stuff like that. So I think this is why you like this one more.

Speaker 2:

Love this, and they have a lot of floats, so you can get a Coca-Cola float, a Fanta Orange float, a Diet Coke float, a root beer float, a Sprite float Ooh, the boys would like. No one would like the Sprite float, so it's served with your choice of Dole Whip.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, so it just depends on, like, what flavors really float your boat, and I see what you did there Also if you love Joffreys, you can your shaken Jamaican here as well.

Speaker 2:

Didn't know that, did you?

Speaker 1:

No, so I mean they do have. It seems like more choices. However, like I guess it comes down to, do you want orange and some of those basic other flavors, or do you want, like the pineapple, the coconut, the raspberry, things like that?

Speaker 2:

the orange. It's so good, yeah. So whenever we break away from the kids like Brittany gets like an hour to herself sometimes and then I'll get an hour to myself I go to Sunshine Tree Terrace get the orange, dole Whip, and I just walk around and just eat that. Yeah.

Speaker 1:

And then I get my pineapple, coconut swirl Dole Whip.

Speaker 2:

So again, mine's on no particular order. So I kind of skipped around in the order that I had them in, but again, no particular order All right, what's next for you?

Speaker 1:

All right. Next, pirates of the Caribbean.

Speaker 2:

It's on my list.

Speaker 1:

I figured that.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, yep, I like pirates too.

Speaker 1:

So we didn't write it our first time, or two.

Speaker 2:

We missed it. So we didn't ride it our first time or two. We missed it One of the mistakes we've. We didn't do another mistakes episode that we've made.

Speaker 1:

Well, we just didn't know any better, didn't know much about it like we do now, and so once we did ride it, we enjoyed it, and I feel like we enjoyed a little more every time, to be honest.

Speaker 2:

Love it, although I love you and Walt Disney World.

Speaker 1:

Disneyland blows it out of the water.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, the disneyland one is a lot longer, a little more to it, but both, both are great they're both great, yes yes, and you know I, I like the fact that this is one of the rides that is any height requirement, it's for all ages. You know you do have some small little drops, you can get a little wet, but it, you know it's fun. I mean, you're, you know, boarding on a, like a barge, so to speak, and just going through like you know, sailing through Dead Man's Cove and navigating through Cannon Fire and listening to the stories that the pirates are telling and, you know, trying to locate Captain jack sparrow. I just, I don't know. I feel like we just thoroughly enjoy this ride. I'm sure zach's gonna tell a whole story about it and the history of it, maybe, but um, we've got a whole episode on.

Speaker 1:

You can go check that out but again, we just we've really enjoyed the ride more and more yeah it's, it's a great attraction.

Speaker 2:

I got nothing really more to add to what you add.

Speaker 1:

Oh, wow.

Speaker 2:

The queue's great. It's got some good Easter. We've talked about it, so so much we can talk about it a little bit. It's any height the queue. There's some good Easter eggs in there with the pirates playing chess and they're in an eternal stalemate, and the skeletons and it's just a great attraction. Great family skeletons and it's just a great attraction, great family attraction. Now, the last time I was on it, when I was down there doing research a couple months ago, this little girl, probably four or five, was so afraid to go on it and they were sitting behind me and they got on and once they got through kind of the dark areas, she's like oh, I like this right.

Speaker 1:

You know, once you get it got lighter, yeah like it was.

Speaker 2:

it's just a good family attraction, fun for everybody. It's cool. I like watching how they do the special effects, like the city burning. Those are just blankets with fans flowing the blanket in red lights.

Speaker 1:

But it looks like fire. It's so cool. So, yeah, I agree, and I also like the dog holding the keys in his mouth where other two places can you find that dog in walt disney world? Carousel of progress yes and oh um living with the land. What do you?

Speaker 2:

what was that I? Was doing some hand motions like like living yes, the dog on the porch at living with the Land is the same dog as is on Carousel of Progress and Pirates of the Caribbean. Also, a lot of the animatronics that they use in Pirates of the Caribbean you can see in Living With the Land the special purse. They reuse a lot of the same facial.

Speaker 1:

They just change their hair or whatnot. Yeah, okay, yep, all right, is that it for?

Speaker 2:

Jungle Pirates of the same facial. Yeah, they just change their hair, or whatnot. Oh, okay, yep, all right. Is that it for jungle pirates of caribbean? We got a whole episode on it.

Speaker 1:

Go check it out you want to go more in depth about it yes, um, no, that's all just again. You know, and just thoroughly enjoy it, like the fact of you know, any height, any age, the fact that it has a little little drops here and there makes it a little thrill to it, and you know you can get wet. Usually my bottom gets wet, so yeah yeah, all right.

Speaker 2:

Next on my list is the transition from main street usa to adventureland.

Speaker 2:

So, as you're walking past, because the crystal palace right yes as you're walking past crystal palace, going to adventureland, you will notice the shrubbery and the trees and in the plants start to change right. Yeah, and this is what disney does so well is the transitions from land to land, and I think this one is probably the best in all the parks because it's so subtle the way they do it. Now, it's obvious when you're going from Toy Story Land to Galaxy's Edge, that's obvious. It's obvious when you're going from Discovery Island in Animal Kingdom to Pandora or Africa, like those are. You know what you're, you're changing when. But when you're going from crystal palace to adventure land, it's very subtle the way the music goes from turn of the century music to this and how the the vegetation changes.

Speaker 2:

It goes from more like neighborhood type of trees to more lush gardens and thick vegetation and palm trees and palm leaves and everything, and I think that is just so well done and I think this is probably the best version of that and just the subtleness of it yeah, I can see that.

Speaker 1:

that's what I love about it, yeah.

Speaker 2:

Again, you know this was not going to be very generic for me. No, no.

Speaker 1:

But what he said is true they do a really good job of that transition and going from one area to another and really encompassing you.

Speaker 2:

Because it's preparing you mentally for a different land you're going to and a lot of the transition from other parks are very sudden, like you'd go from Fantasyland to Tomorrowland really quickly.

Speaker 1:

Right.

Speaker 2:

From the Mad Tea Party to Tomorrowland Speedway, like that's not a subtle transition. That's an immediate transition. You go from Fantasyland to Storybook Circus. That's an immediate transition. This is very subtle.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, like that walking bridge and everything. This is very subtle. Yeah, like that walking bridge and everything it's very, very well like.

Speaker 2:

if you notice the bridge is brown. Why do you think the bridge is brown?

Speaker 1:

Because you're leading into that land.

Speaker 2:

It makes you think you're leading into a dirt path into adventure. It's just awesome, it's just so well done. I love it, love it, love it, love.

Speaker 1:

I didn't notice it as much in disneyland, probably because it was so much smaller yeah, and I think I mean it was the first park, you know, and everything too, but I think size and the fact that it was the first, they had a lot more room in walt disney world to to make that transition better.

Speaker 2:

I think, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, all right, I think that's a good one on your list and it fits being on your list.

Speaker 1:

Well, I've got to make that transition better. Yeah, I think. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I, I think that's a good one on your list and it fits being on your list.

Speaker 2:

Well, I've got another one that you're going to go. Whoa, okay, all right.

Speaker 1:

All right, well, uh. Next on my list is, uh, the adventure land spring roll wagon at the like it's located at like the adventureland bridge entrance. Okay, so is this considered end adventureland? Well, what you were just saying is that in adventureland.

Speaker 2:

Fair enough, thank you, because you're saying the transition and leading from like once you pass crystal palace. So I was going to walkway, and then I was going to put this on my list too, but I was like no, yeah, I decided not to.

Speaker 1:

Well, and if you like look on the internet and stuff a lot of the internet's never wrong, well no but I'm just saying, like a lot of um disney people that we used to follow or still follow, like they call it, the adventureland spring roll cart okay, all right so, um, the spring roll cart, now the, the spring rolls that are offered.

Speaker 1:

the flavors can change and they have a little bit. The last couple of years, so lately the last what two years or so one of the choices has been the cheeseburger spring rolls. Still available. Which is still available. But then during the 50th anniversary celebration they had like a pastrami one.

Speaker 2:

Delicious.

Speaker 1:

And it was delicious. But now like, like what two months or so ago? Yes they changed it to kind of like a chicken cordon bleu, so you've got like chicken and cheese and or swiss cheese, right yes and ham and ham, uh, so I haven't personally tried that yet.

Speaker 2:

I've heard you know that it's it's good on the face of it, it does not sound good right but the youtubers we've watched that, have tried it, said it sound, it's good and I will be there in two and a half weeks yeah I will be getting them yes, so zach can report back on that I would definitely report back.

Speaker 1:

But the you know the cheeseburger ones we've had. They are delicious. The pastrami ones in the past were good. I wish that at some point they would bring back some other flavors that they used to have. They used to have like a pepperoni, like pizza one Yep. And then they also used to have, like a buffalo chicken one as well.

Speaker 2:

I want to try both of those.

Speaker 1:

Yes. So I wish, like I don't know, if they could offer like all of them at once and then, once they're out, they're out kind of thing, you know, or if they, you know, like, just switch them out every week or something. I don't know. I just would like to experience those at another point in time.

Speaker 2:

Completely agree.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, so? But yes, I think, because, like I said, other people call it adventure land is right there as you're about to go on the bridge and you were talking about the transitioning.

Speaker 2:

So I'll give it to you. Yes, I'll give it to you All right. Next on my list is the secludedness of Adventureland compared to other lands in the Magic Kingdom. The secludedness is a word. We'll go with it.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, so like you're questioning me about the spring world, but yet you're talking about the transition, now you're talking about how it's secluded.

Speaker 2:

Well, I'm in Adventureland now.

Speaker 1:

Okay, well, now.

Speaker 2:

I was giving you a hard time. Yes, All right. So I talked about the transition. The secludedness is what I think I love the most in Adventureland. When you're in, say, Fantasyland, you can see Liberty Square. You can see Frontierland. When you're in Frontierland, you can see Liberty Square. You can see Fantasyland. When you're in Tomorrowland, you can see Fantasyland and Storybook Circus. When you're in Storybook Circus, you can see Fantasyland and Tomorrowland. When you're in Adventureland that, you can see Fantasy Land and Tomorrowland. When you're in Adventure Land that's all you see, that's it.

Speaker 2:

You don't see anything else and I think they did such a great job of making you really feel like you're in this land. This is in Magic Kingdom, not in all of Walt Disney World, right, but if Magic Kingdom, you really do feel like you are in this land of adventure More than any other land in the park in Magic Kingdom, I think, just because of the way the vegetation is and the trees and the flowers, you don't see anything else except what you're currently in and I love that so much about it.

Speaker 1:

Yeah.

Speaker 2:

Do you agree or disagree?

Speaker 1:

No, like I was trying to visualize it while you were saying all that. And you're right because, like all the other lands, at some point from you know whether it's from one end of them or in the middle of it. You do see other places of the park, but the way adventure land is laid out and I guess the curves of it and everything that you just see, what is adventure land?

Speaker 2:

yeah, yeah, so if you want to go on an adventure of your own in adventure land, you know who to reach out to right.

Speaker 1:

Who is?

Speaker 2:

that the professionals at Main Street Travel Company. This podcast is sponsored by Main Street Travel Company and we use them for all of our Disney vacations. Go check them out wwwmstccocom. I don't know why you would not yeah, and just and just to take the stress off. I mean you know they they keep up with, okay, you're 60 days out for dining reservations or if there's additional specials that come out, you know they. They look and see like, oh okay, this fits the dates that you know you're going. You may want to look into this, yeah and the.

Speaker 2:

The personalized service is amazing. Erica, our agent with main street travel company, texted me this morning thinking our original dates for dining were today. She had woken up, signed into our my disney experience today to book those reservations two more days away, yeah, but she worked with us and got us the discounts for fall break trip.

Speaker 2:

We had to change the dates a little bit just by a couple of days, a couple of days, but that's what they do and they're going to take the time to do that. Yes, and they also have a podcast called let's talk about disney. I was on it this past week, yes, talking about cosmic rewind and the cool details in it, and they were talking about nik Nikki's Not so Scary Halloween Party compared to some other Halloween party that's in Orlando. I didn't even know there were other parks in Orlando, but anyway. So, yeah, go check them out. Tell them we sent you Get that free gift card. They're just, they're amazing people, they're great. We just love everything about them.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I mean, and they really get to know you. And I'm not just saying that, you know, I mean the very first time that we met them, you know, like Erica, she, you know, remembered some things that our boys said. And the next time that we talked to her, you know she, she asked them questions about it, and so you know, that just shows that that they're very interested in getting to know you. So right.

Speaker 2:

What's next on your list?

Speaker 1:

we got one more each right, no because you went ahead on one of them and talked first okay, well, I've only got, because we talked about the same on one, yeah, and then one of them.

Speaker 1:

Instead of me talking first, you talked okay so, um, so next on my list is cast members in the land. So, oh, yes, so at jungle cruise, um, and in that area, like they just they know how to keep you entertained, they know how to joke around, but they keep it all adventure, land, jungle cruise themed and it's just very entertaining. So, like, while you're waiting in line, you know, to pass the time, they keep you laughing, telling different jokes, yelling at each other, whatever, and then of course, on the ride itself, but other than, uh, jungle cruise then also just as you're walking through, like this is why I asked you this question the other day.

Speaker 1:

So yes okay, so um the there was one trip we were on that a cast member.

Speaker 2:

You can tell it. Should I just tell the story? Yes, you tell it. So we were walking by Skipper Canteen and so all the servers in Skipper Canteen are also Jungle Cruise skippers, right, so you're getting that humor and sarcasticness and everything. You're getting the Jungle Cruise experience in a restaurant. So I really want to go. Probably just be a me go eat there by myself kind of thing.

Speaker 1:

Huh well, the type of food I just don't know about.

Speaker 2:

The boys like I would be fine so, anyway, we were walking by and one of the skippers was just standing outside casually and this gentleman in front of us said hey, how are you? And she goes safari, so good, how are you? And he stopped and looked at her and I just lost it. I was laughing so hard and now it's on t-shirts. Have you seen that? Safari safari so good in animal kingdom, they're on t-shirts. I did see it last time, yes, but this is like two years before that right and they're just awesome.

Speaker 2:

So jungle cruises I'm on my list um for for this. So yeah, jungle cruise is just an iconic opening day attraction. I know I'm still kind of piggybacking off what britney was saying. I didn't want to interrupt her too much I mean that's all I was really saying.

Speaker 1:

I mean it's just, you know, they they keep, they keep the theming going, but they keep you entertained. They're there to make you laugh, you know, and even like cast members when you're waiting in line to to board like pirates you know they're, they keep in, they keep you engaged, they, they talk like they're pirates, and so I mean, and you know, throughout the park cast members are great, but I just feel like I noticed it maybe a little more here.

Speaker 2:

I think they have a little more freedom to say more random things here because of Jungle Cruise and the, the type of attractions they are, and I think they can maybe get away with a little bit more. That makes sense, no it does.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, like as long as they stay in certain parameters you're staying in character yeah, yeah, yeah, but yeah. So that's why it made it on my list, because, again, you know when we've waited in line, you know we were still entertained and laughing and then just walking through, you know the that area, that land as well.

Speaker 2:

So and I want to make one honorable mention, mm-hmm, the Tiki Room.

Speaker 1:

I'm the tiki room.

Speaker 2:

I'm not done, oh you're not?

Speaker 1:

okay, I'm done. Sorry, continue, go. So that is the way I'm ending my list. Okay, go for it. The uh so walt disney's enchanted tiki room. So those of you that aren't familiar, these are audio animatronics and there's all sorts of different tropical birds, there's tiki gods, colorful flowers that come to life and it's just a very fun musical experience. You know. I mean your eyes are looking at things, your ears are listening to fun songs, you're inside, you know you experience like a rainstorm in the South Pacific and I believe there's like over 225 choreographed animatronics and so you know it's just again something to get you out of the heat. Enjoy, kind of relax, take it all in, and I usually leave there with a smile on my face so the tiki room.

Speaker 2:

We would not have the animatronics we have now without the Tiki Room. Yeah, these were the original audio animatronics and Walt originally wanted this as a restaurant with real birds in them.

Speaker 1:

Oh, wow.

Speaker 2:

Could you imagine?

Speaker 1:

Real birds flying around.

Speaker 2:

Real birds flying around, we were trying to eat. I mean, that just doesn't.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, all right.

Speaker 2:

So just imagine birds flying around when you're trying to eat. That is not going to work. So the story is they had all these birds made up and Walt was looking at them for Disneyland, you know, for the original Tiki Room at Disneyland Right and he said to the Imagineers why are they not breathing?

Speaker 1:

Oh.

Speaker 2:

I can't see them breathe. And they were like well, the guests aren't going to notice that, yes, they will. And so Harriet Burns, one of the first women imagine, the first woman imagineer everything okay over there? Yes, the first woman imagineer was trying to figure out how to make them breathe and make the feathers look natural. And she was trying to figure out how to make them breathe and make the feathers look natural. And she was trying to figure out how to do that. She couldn't figure it out. So she was in a meeting with Walt one day and he was wearing a cashmere sweater and she was noticing him moving his arms, because Walt was a very animated person when he talked.

Speaker 2:

And he was wearing a cashmere sweater. She noticed the cashmere followed his body movements perfectly. So, on the breastplates of all the birds in the tiki room. It's cashmere underneath the feathers.

Speaker 1:

Interesting.

Speaker 2:

Okay, so it looks more. I'll have to watch them a little more next time, really, cool and just yes, I know it's maybe not the most exciting, but there's so much, much now. This is not the original one, the one in disneyland is, but such a cool story behind that. And we would not have the shop, the shaman in pandora, we would not have hondo anaka if we did not have the birds right, yeah, and you know for me because I didn't go into like all the history and detail do you know where walt got the idea for this from?

Speaker 1:

I'm still talking go ahead. No, no, go ahead, go ahead continue I don't even remember now what I was saying even though you weren't talking about the history I was going in another direction for a minute.

Speaker 2:

Well, go in the other direction.

Speaker 1:

I'm telling you now. You made me lose. I don't remember what I was going to say. Okay, so I apologize.

Speaker 2:

So the original idea came from this when Walt was in New Orleans and there was a little toy with a bird that would speak a little bit, that he bought off the street in New Orleans and that's where the original idea came from for the tiki room Okay. And original idea came from for the tiki room okay.

Speaker 1:

and Walt just loved the Hawaiian culture and the tiki culture and all that stuff, right, all of that, yeah, no, and you know, and it's, it made my list just because, like I said, it's it's just a good way for you to slow down and relax, like we we say to do, you know, um, and so that's why it made my list, you know. So just, yeah, it's not my favorite favorite thing to do, but it's a way just to slow it down and and get out of the heat and just, you know, take it all in. And I mean there's a lot, a lot in there. Like I said, I think it's over 225 choreographed animatronics. So so, just to recap real quick, so my five reasons I love Adventureland was Aloha Isle because of the Dole Whips, pirates of the Caribbean, adventureland, spring Roll Wagon at the Entrance Slash Bridge, the cast members throughout, so, like Jungle Cruise skippers, um, you know, at skipper canteen and then also even in pirates of the caribbean, and then, um, enchanted tiki room and mine are pirates of the caribbean as well.

Speaker 2:

Jungle cruise, sunshine tree terrace. Jungle Cruise, sunshine Tree Terrace, the Secludedness of Adventureland and the Transition from Main Street USA to Adventureland, yes. So I asked everybody on social media what y'all loved about Adventureland and on Twitter, sweeney said Pirates and Jungle Cruise. Obviously, but a walk through Swiss Family Treehouse is a must and a Dole Whip float, of course. So we didn't walk through Swiss Family Treehouse is a must and a Dole Whip float, of course. So we didn't talk about Swiss Family Treehouse.

Speaker 1:

But it is a great attraction.

Speaker 2:

You can get great views of the castle from up there and it's after watching the movie, the original black and white movie I appreciate it a little bit more.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, and I had almost written it on my list too, because I mean, we do like walking through, we do it almost every time and, like you mentioned, there's there's some great views from higher up as well, but it just is, it's not my top five, yeah yeah, uh, hydro.

Speaker 2:

Later one said the background soundtrack which I was playing is is great, right, the Q-Line experience for Jungle Cruise. We talked about that and Skipper's Canteen and he said Adventureland is my favorite land for sure.

Speaker 1:

Okay.

Speaker 2:

Taylor Macy said Dole Whip Adventureland without Indy is not super enticing for me. I love Adventureland here, but indiana, jones and disneyland is so cool it is. I was reading this thing they were breaking down how long that queue is for indiana jones oh yeah, you were actually closer to downtown disney when you're riding indiana jones than you are to adventureland, that's how far back it goes. I can see that, and you know what we need a bengal barbecue oh my goodness, yes, walt disney world does need that do we need a sunglass hut in adventureland?

Speaker 2:

I mean, we can go without it let's put bengal barbecue where sunglass hut is. Now. I mean, do you ever go to adventureland and go? Man, I really need to get some sunglasses right now now.

Speaker 1:

I would hope I'd already have mine put that in the front of the park.

Speaker 2:

Don't put this in adventureland yeah we want a bangles barbecue. Come on, it can't be that hard. It's just a grill with meat that's it.

Speaker 1:

That's all it is. There's nothing fancy to it. Yeah, and it was very flavorful. You know they're different meats on skewers, yeah.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, they got chicken beef, they had. Was it shrimp, no, no shrimp. But they had bacon wrapped asparagus.

Speaker 1:

That's right.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, come on, it's not that difficult.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, and it would be good. And just a quick go-to snack, or you can turn it into a meal if you wanted to, so good.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, completely. Britt Brooke from Instagram said Sunshine Tree Terrace and Pirates of the Caribbean, travel planner Erica hey. Erica said Dole Whip. And from Facebook, trina said Pirates of the Caribbean, tiki Room and Dole Whip. I think Dole Whip may be the top thing that people love about Adventureland.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I mean it's so good so good, All right.

Speaker 2:

So let's bring this Disney trivia this week. Of course it had to be about Adventureland, and the question was what attractions in Adventureland were not opening day attractions. Okay, Brittany, do you know?

Speaker 1:

In what Hold on which one.

Speaker 2:

What attractions?

Speaker 1:

No Disneyland or Disney World.

Speaker 2:

In Adventureland and Walt Disney World, okay, were not opening day attractions.

Speaker 1:

So the carpets Aladdin.

Speaker 2:

Magic Carpets of Aladdin is one.

Speaker 1:

Pirates.

Speaker 2:

Pirates of the Caribbean is number two.

Speaker 1:

Is there more?

Speaker 2:

That's it Only two Pirates of the Caribbean and Magic Carpets of Aladdin. Pirates of the Caribbean opened in 1973, two years after the opening of Walt Disney World. Magic Carpets of Aladdin was not added until 2001. Okay, so it went from 1973 to 2001 without any additions and has pretty much sat unchanged, with the exception of Magic Carpets of Aladdin, since opening day. There has not been. I mean, how? What could you really change, though?

Speaker 2:

It's a lot of plants and trees and vegetation. Now, yes, you do get jingle crews during the winter time you know Christmas time but there's not been like a massive overhaul of Adventureland since really opening day with, except the with the exception of Pirates of the Caribbean two years later and Magic Carpets of Aladdin in 2001. So I think that's pretty cool. Yeah, all right. So this week's winner, still on top from Twitter, is Sweeney.

Speaker 1:

Nice.
