Circle of Parks

There's something magical about combining the tranquility of a beach getaway with the wonder of Disney, and that's exactly what Brittany and  Zach, are gearing up for as we head to Disney's Vero Beach Resort. We're peeling back the curtain on our vacation plans, swapping the flurry of theme parks for the soothing sounds of ocean waves. From our laid-back beach day rituals to the anticipation of dining under the stars, we're all about embracing the casual vibes that come with surf, sun, and a touch of Disney charm.

During our chat, the tantalizing aromas of the Wind and Waves Grill seem to waft through the microphone as we fantasize about wood-fired pizzas and succulent seafood that await us. We're balancing the thrill of exploring new flavors with the comforting thought of kids' menus that promise to delight our little ones just as much. And we won't shy away from the mysterious allure of a flourless chocolate cake that begs the question, "How do they make it so divine?" Join us for a culinary adventure that promises to tickle your taste buds and maybe even inspire your next beachside dinner.

As we wrap up, the conversation takes a soothing turn, focusing on the serenity we're seeking after a whirlwind of soccer games and daily grind. We're weighing out the relaxation against adventure, contemplating the allure of a potential rocket launch by the shore, and musing over whether a spa day fits into our beachside idyl. It's all about finding that blissful balance, and we invite you to sit back, relax, and live vicariously through our upcoming escapade to Disney's slice of seaside heaven.

Speaker 2:

Hello and welcome to Circular Parks Podcast, episode number 150. Today we are trip planning for Disney's Vero Beach Resort. There is far too much to see and do. We are here to help guide you through, but before we do that we must talk Disney merch. So this week on DisneyStorecom there was this really cute Mickey and Minnie Mouse summer dress for women on sale, normally priced at $69.99. Currently sale price is $48.99.

Speaker 2:

Join Mickey and Minnie on vacation wherever you go in this sunny summer dress. The sweetheart couple are featured in the all-over print that includes palm trees, hibiscus flowers and bright sun shining down on the tropical design. The empire waist sits above the pieced skirt, while the thin shoulder straps complete the cotton dress. Cool and casual style. So again, go check that out at DisneyStorecom. Currently on sale for $48.99. And that is this week's Disney merch. We also have merch for Circle of Parks. If you go to our website, circleofparkscom and click on merch, it will take you directly to Tee Public and you will see things such as stickers, coffee mugs, sweatshirts, t-shirts and more. So please go check that out.

Speaker 1:

Thank you everybody for joining us. Episode number 150. We're going to Disney's Vero Beach Resort and you may not have heard about this place because it's not really advertised or talked about a lot, but this is our first time going and, if you're new here, we've got a lot of new listeners the past couple of weeks. Thank you so much. I'm zach, I'm britney, and we talk, do this podcast every single week. We talk about disney world, we talk some about disneyland and today we're talking about disney's vero beach. It's about a two-hour drive southeast of orlando and we're excited to go. I have no idea what we're doing. I just we booked it with travel planner Erica. Brittany said we're going on these dates and that's all I know. So this is going to be a journey, not just for you, the listener, but for me, because I don't know, and this is one of those things where Brittany's done some research and some things that she wants to do. I'm going into this knowing nothing.

Speaker 2:

Yeah.

Speaker 1:

Except they have sea turtles that nest on the beach. That's the only thing that I really know about. I know they have a cool pool and I know it's two hours southeast of Orlando, but I kind of want to go into this not knowing anything. That make sense. Yeah, this, not knowing anything, Does that make sense? Yeah. So, and normally our beach vacation, every year we go down to Highway 38, which is on the panhandle on the Gulf of Mexico. Last year it just it was too much right.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, things, you know, things change, so we wanted to try something different.

Speaker 1:

We didn't try something different. We've been going down to 38 for gosh what 12 years.

Speaker 2:

Close to it. And I I don't know it's gotten really instagrammy and it was always kind of crowded, but last year it was just it was too much yeah, and again, I think we were all kind of like thinking it's time to kind of try some somewhere new, not saying we won't go back or anything, but try somewhere new. And you know why? Not get a little bit of Disney while at the beach, right?

Speaker 1:

And our main when we go to the beach, we shut down. We don't like to go do a lot of things. We go to the beach, we go to the pool and we eat. Yeah, that's really about it. Yeah, we kind of turn social media off. We read I'll probably do some writing while I'm down there from the book.

Speaker 2:

Yeah.

Speaker 1:

Then we really just, and the boys love it. They love just shutting down too.

Speaker 2:

Well, they just love spending time at the beach and the pools and relaxing yeah.

Speaker 1:

So all right, Brittany, I don't know what we're doing. I mean, I'm driving, that's all I know. Yes, so take us along our trip that we're planning on going on.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, so well, the day before I plan on really like packing, the boys will be with grandparents that day. So you of this podcast is May 21st 2024. We're going next week, and so currently the weather is showing the highs will be 88 to 92 degrees and the lows will be in the 70s. And on two of the days which this is Florida in the summer on Wednesday and Thursday is calling for scattered storms in the afternoon, but not an all day right now. So it's Florida.

Speaker 1:

It's going to storm on you.

Speaker 2:

Exactly so. So, yeah, so that's how I kind of start planning. You know, OK, what do we need to pack, Because you know, obviously certain times of year and depending on where you're going, you might need to pack some additional items you didn't necessarily think about depending on temperatures, but in this case I think we can pack all summer clothes shorts and short sleeves yeah, short, short sleeves. You know the bathing suits, you know dresses, sandals, all that good stuff I'll make sure to pack my sunday's best dress and uh, so yeah, so saturday is mainly going to be that sunday.

Speaker 1:

Uh, we have two dogs, so sunday we're dropping them off with some of zach's co-workers if you've listened to the show in the past, you've heard them kind of wrestling outside of our the dogs where we record at.

Speaker 1:

Yes so taking them and then from there right around lunchtime picking up our boys and heading to atlanta, because we need to kind of break up the drive a little bit on the way down yeah, so it's two hours southeast of orlando and I it's just, I'm not big on driving, but in order to go to vero beach and have a car, we have to fly into orlando or melbourne and rent a car and that's to fly into Orlando or Melbourne and rent a car and you're looking at more expenses at that point right.

Speaker 2:

Right.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, so we're driving down to Atlanta. We like Embassy Suites when we travel with the boys. Everybody's kind of got their own room, more space. They're very reasonably priced, I think.

Speaker 2:

Yes.

Speaker 1:

And we usually stay on the south side of Atlanta. So when we leave in the morning we're going against traffic. There's no traffic leaving Atlanta in the morning. It's all going in. Plus, it's the Monday, memorial Day, so there's going to be any traffic going into Atlanta. We're out, so that's what we've figured out works best for us.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, so Sunday, like I was saying, driving down to Atlanta and Zach explained why we do that and it does really work best for us. I'm sure, depending on the time of day and what we're feeling, there might be a possible Buc-ee's stop.

Speaker 1:

So Buc-ee's is great, possible, possible. It's like when you stop it's at least an hour.

Speaker 2:

No, it is not. Yes, it is no, it has never been an hour.

Speaker 1:

With the traffic getting in there, finding stuff we want and getting out. It is close to an hour.

Speaker 2:

That is an exaggeration. No, it is not One time maybe, but all the other times we've been in and out in like 15, 20 minutes.

Speaker 1:

We'll see.

Speaker 2:

I know, and it just depends, but I put that in there because usually on these longer trips there's usually a Buc-ee's involved. Usually on these longer trips, you know, there's usually a bucky's involved. Uh, and when, once we get to the resort or not the resort, the hotel, sorry that we will probably drop off our bags, relax for a few minutes in the room, freshen up a bit, and then there's some restaurants walking distance from embassy suites and I can't remember the name of that one place we went to.

Speaker 1:

It was like a brew house pub or something.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, they had a great selection of beer.

Speaker 1:

It's funny enough, it's literally right next to Delta Airlines headquarters. Like all their training offices, all their corporate headquarters. It's literally right next to it.

Speaker 2:

Right, so there's like a cool little restaurant there. Yeah, and you can get burgers, chicken, you know, wings, all of that stuff but it was really good though it was, and so we'll probably do that for dinner and then walk back over to the hotel uh, have the boys change, get a little swimming in, um, and then just really relax, get ready for bed so we can get going and head to the beach the next day.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, so driving from Atlanta to Vero Beach. When I looked on Google Maps it had us going straight to Orlando and by the time we'd be getting to Orlando. If you've driven through Orlando at all or on the turnpikes, you know it can be a mess, Even on Memorial Day, I think it would be a mess. So my plan, as the driver is taking I forgot the interstate name down into Atlanta 75, taking I-75 out of Atlanta and then going east on I-10 to Jacksonville and then cutting down on any five that on the coast. I think it would cut out all the traffic in Orlando. Most of the beach traffic for Memorial Day would probably be on A1A. I know I got to say Beachfront Avenue. Come on, you know what that is From Vanilla Ice.

Speaker 1:

Oh yeah, oh my gosh, come on, I'm older, I know I'm a little older.

Speaker 2:

I'm a little older. I'm a little tired. I'm sorry.

Speaker 1:

So I think it adds an hour per Google Maps, but I think that hour would be eaten up getting through Orlando.

Speaker 2:

Right, it would even out.

Speaker 1:

Basically, if you hit traffic, probably, probably, yes, yeah, oh, and the good thing about staying at Embassy Suites it gets free breakfast.

Speaker 2:

Yeah. So you know, once we wake up like we're not going to be super, super rushed but we don't want to waste a lot of time in the morning but wake up, get ready, eat breakfast there before we hit the road. And yeah, I mean you can have, you know, your eggs, bacon, sausage, or you can keep it simple and just do some pastries or cereal and then the drive down. You know we'll stop a couple of times along the way, stretch out the legs, get gas, snacks, whatever, and once we arrive there, whatever. And once we arrive there, hopefully maybe three, four o'clock in the afternoon, you know I can't wait to walk into the lobby.

Speaker 2:

I've watched some videos and seen pictures and all of that and it does remind you of how a lot of Disney resorts are set up. You know they've got pictures with Disney characters like on the walls. You know they've got pictures with Disney characters like on the walls. You know they've got the music playing. It's bright and lively a little bit and some people have said that it kind of. We haven't stayed at Key West. Was it Old Key?

Speaker 1:

West Old Key West.

Speaker 2:

In Orlando, but some people have said it kind of reminds them of that.

Speaker 1:

I have no idea what to expect. Yeah, and if it is like which, we've never been to Old Key West either, but I'm imagining this is going to be like the Beach Club lobby. Yeah, I don't know. Again, we're staying at Beach Club later this summer, but again, I have no idea what to expect.

Speaker 2:

Right Now we just, you know, we booked a standard room but they have deluxe rooms, they have cottages, you know you can get beach view, you know a variety of rooms, selections, and you know we'll probably, you know, stay there for a few minutes kind of chill, stretch the legs out, all that stuff. But then we're going to head to the store and get some snacks and sandwich food to eat on off and on while we're there. That way we don't have to eat every meal at a restaurant. And we've got growing boys. They like to eat and snack a lot.

Speaker 1:

Yes, so normally we have like a full kitchen, because we get like a house when we go to the beach Not this time, but we are going to have a refrigerator and we are going to have a refrigerator. That's about it so we're going to have like sandwich meats and we have two athletes. So not only are they two growing boys, they are two very active athletic athlete boys. Yeah, that sounded really weird.

Speaker 1:

Athletic they are two very athletic boys and they eat nonstop. So lots of snacks, lots of healthy snacks, and I just want to have that stuff at the resort, before you know, we chill and I just want to have that stuff at the resort before.

Speaker 2:

You know we chill. Yeah, because you know whether it's some bars, even if we eat there. You know, for breakfast you know we'll have bars, we'll have some fruit and, like Zach was saying, sandwich, meat and things like that. But we do plan to eat at the resort some too. But we want to just go ahead and get the grocery stuff out of the way so we don't have to worry about it. You know the rest of the week.

Speaker 1:

And I promise we're not sick anymore. My throat just got really dry there.

Speaker 2:

Um, and then when we come back from getting that, of course get ready, hit the beach in the pool beach and Beach and pool main thing, just relax, take it in.

Speaker 1:

We've been to the Atlantic Ocean but haven't really stayed at the Atlantic Ocean.

Speaker 2:

Right? As a family we have not, and it looks really pretty from things that I've seen and, like Zach had mentioned a lot of turtles. They come and lay eggs there because apparently turtles when they you know, they go back to the beach that they were born at.

Speaker 1:

So it might not be the exact spot, but they know the area and they head back there to lay their eggs yeah, so I have read up on that and they will mark off the, the nests, because I think that I mean they.

Speaker 2:

I'm sure they keep up pretty well with that yeah, some of the things I saw too like when too like when they mark it off and everything. They even write what type of turtle?

Speaker 1:

Oh, that'd be cool. That's cool. So they haven't looked that much into it. I'm just hoping. I know that happens in the middle of the night, so the odds of us seeing an actual sea turtle on the beach is actually pretty slim to none.

Speaker 2:

Right, but it would be cool to just see it. Yeah, and so, and also, if it's early enough in the morning, you might see like the turtles, like tracks, so to speak that would be cool move along the beach, like you'll see their path, um, so yeah, I think that would be cool as well.

Speaker 2:

So yeah, in the beach, you know, like the first evening, like we won't have a whole lot of time there, but it's still time to play in the sand, play in the waves in the night, at the pool. This pool, it looks really nice. It's got a slide, so think like deluxe resorts, walt Disney World, because it's got a slight well, and some of the moderates too. So this one's like a lighthouse. There are several steps you have to go up and from everything that I've seen, it looks like it's a shorter slide, but you go really fast.

Speaker 1:

I'm down for that.

Speaker 2:

So I think the kids and Zach will have fun with that and then, you know, we will probably relax in bedtime. I think we just do like sandwiches that evening because we want to enjoy the beach and the pool.

Speaker 1:

I'm just along for the ride.

Speaker 2:

Yeah. So I think like either right before we go to the beach, if we're hungry, go ahead after the store and have some sandwiches and then head down to the beach, or one of us go up when it's time to leave the beach to go to the pool and then bring them back. Yeah, for lunch yeah for sure, this is dinner.

Speaker 1:

Oh sorry, I was confused. Sorry For dinner Tuesday night, we just this is Monday.

Speaker 2:

still Okay for Monday night.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I'm fine with that.

Speaker 2:

Yes, this is still Monday.

Speaker 1:

Monday night Got it.

Speaker 2:

Yes, so then the next day after relaxing, going to bed and everything, then on Tuesday I don't know, it's one of those I'm thinking breakfast in the room with bars and cereal.

Speaker 2:

Hit the beach early, before it gets super hot, but maybe to see like some of those turtle tracks and stuff it gets super hot, but maybe to see, like some of those turtle tracks and stuff, yeah, and then you know, after enjoying the beach for a while, come, come back in, and we can do one of two things. We can either go ahead and have lunch at Wind and Waves Grill at the resort, or we can wait for dinner.

Speaker 1:

What would you like to do?

Speaker 2:

I'm good either way, I kind of would like to try it for lunch, I think.

Speaker 1:

Okay.

Speaker 2:

You know, but I either way, um, I kind of would like to try it for lunch, I think. Okay, you know, but I think it's one of those we play it by ear, you know day of. Because here's the thing, if we don't go to the main restaurant, wind and waves grill, there's also like a pool probably the pool.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, do the, because you usually have like burgers and hot dogs and stuff, right, give them.

Speaker 2:

Yeah yeah, so there is like a pool bar where you can get drinks and and hamburg chicken tenders, I think, fish, tacos, things like that. So that could be an option. And then you know, back to the room, get some relaxing time in, just in the room. Uh, take our time cleaning up, getting ready, and then we can. This is where I wasn't sure if we were going to do dinner, I guess at the restaurant that night so we'll do dinner at wind and waves grill.

Speaker 1:

I don't know much about it, but look at the menu right now. So they have like a wood-fired pizza for appetizers. A a French onion soup, watermelon, arugula and feta salad, crispy crab cake, panko breaded blue crab, citrus remoulade, arugula and radish salad. I bet their crab cakes here are pretty good.

Speaker 2:

Oh yeah, I would hope so anyway.

Speaker 1:

Ooh, shrimp and sweet corn hushpupp. Ooh, that sounds amazing.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, and I mean in this restaurant for dinner. Again, it's called Wind and Waves Grill. You know, the starters are anything from wood-fired pizza, the crab cake. They have chowder, they have nachos that's shrimp and sweet corn hushpuppies. They have daily specials from the butcher's cut or fresh catch of the day. And then you know, they have anything from roasted chicken to a Vero Beach signature blend burger, peach glazed pork tenderloin From the sea. You have shrimp and grits, fish and chips, blackened salmon sustainable Oscar style fish. Fish and chips, blackened salmon a sustainable Oscar-style fish. And then for dessert you have key lime cheesecake, banana, foster bread pudding, peach and berry cobbler, flourless chocolate cake and chocolate chip, caramel pecan cookies.

Speaker 1:

How do you make a flourless chocolate cake?

Speaker 2:

It's served a la mode with vanilla ice cream, chocolate sauce and raspberry sauce.

Speaker 1:

That doesn't answer that question. I don't know, but I mean.

Speaker 2:

I've heard of it several times.

Speaker 1:

Interesting.

Speaker 2:

Yes.

Speaker 1:

So their fish and chips is large, battered mahi Ooh, because usually it's made with cod.

Speaker 2:

Mm-hmm.

Speaker 1:

Ooh.

Speaker 2:

Mahi might have your attention, that looks good.

Speaker 1:

The blackened salmon Well, you're not catching salmon from florida, so it's probably not fresh. Well, I would either get the fish and chips or the sustainable oscar style fish, because it's going to be probably fresh from you. Know what you can get. I don't want to get a burger here I'd want to get like some seafood from here.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, yeah and flourish chocolate cake. It's more dense and it's made from like aerated chocolate custards usually okay, well, you wanted the question answered, thank you so, uh, for kids you have options for grilled chicken, petite steak, chicken strips, catch of the day, macaroni cheese and cheeseburger I wonder if the chicken strips here are the same as the parks and on the cruise line I feel like they are but we're gonna have to try.

Speaker 2:

We're gonna have to try yeah, and that might be like lunch at the pool that that's a good point I'm planning on the fish tacos at the pool fish, tacos, yes all right, so so that is monday and tuesday, okay. And yeah, I mean I was impressed with the menu for Wind and Waves Grill, I think you know at some point later in the trip we may hit it up again for lunch or dinner, but they also do breakfast and we'll get to that shortly.

Speaker 1:

Speaker 1:

I'm so sorry. It's okay, but I can help make this better for you. So.

Speaker 2:

Well, we haven't even said what we're about to say.

Speaker 1:

But I'm going to help this of what we're about to say, but I'm going to help this. Because of its annual Pass Holder Appreciation Month, I get 20% off at. Disney's Vero Beach Resort for being a Walt Disney World annual pass holder.

Speaker 2:

For eating or at the resort.

Speaker 1:

I think just at the resort. Oh, I'll have to double check that. So food as well. Food's included in that. Ooh, yeah, okay.

Speaker 2:

So does, to double check that so food as well?

Speaker 1:

food's included in that? Yeah, okay, so does it. You need double check. But yeah, I knew I have read that recently, though.

Speaker 2:

Okay, all right. So, yes, so on wednesday breakfast at wind and waves grill, and what zach thought I was about to get really excited about, I've recently read, so I it. I don't know I might need to dig a little deeper, but I recently read that they were bringing back the characters for breakfast at Wind and Waves Grill, and then the other day I read at the moment it's just on Saturdays- I'm sorry and we're not going to be here on a Saturday.

Speaker 2:

No, but it's fine. The breakfast, though, still has a decent menu they have.

Speaker 1:

It's massive.

Speaker 2:

Yes, they have pastry boats. So selection of mini pastries and mixed berry compote.

Speaker 1:

Does it come in a boat?

Speaker 2:

I would hope so.

Speaker 1:

It better come in a boat.

Speaker 2:

Then you have, I will post it on social media. If it comes in a boat, yes, but big, big menu, hawaiian style Loco moco. It's two eggs your way Hamburger steak, bacon, fried rice and mushroom onion gravy.

Speaker 1:

Oh wait, hold on that oh that's a lot. That's a lot yeah.

Speaker 2:

Oh, that has my attention though.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, but you don't really like rice, but because it's bacon, Well, I mean, the rice is just there. Okay, Do you really taste rice really?

Speaker 2:

All right, so that has your attention.

Speaker 1:

That has my, that definitely has my attention.

Speaker 2:

Then banana, walnut chocolate chip pancakes. You have key lime stuffed waffles. They're Mickey shaped waffles stuffed with key lime curd, served with bacon or sausage.

Speaker 1:

That sounds really sweet.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, you have campfire French toast. This is cinnamon French toast, hot fudge, graham cracker crumbs and brulee marshmallow fluff, served with bacon or sausage.

Speaker 1:

No one will be all over that.

Speaker 2:

Yes, I agree, there's biscuit sandwich duo. It's a chicken biscuit with cheddar and sausage gravy and a bacon, egg and cheese biscuit served with choice of grits, home fries or fruit. And on a video I watched, they really enjoyed the Biscuit Sandwich Duo.

Speaker 1:

Really.

Speaker 2:

They said the gravy was recommended. All right Breakfast Burrito. So you know your typical breakfast burritos. Open-faced BLTE, so a BLT with an egg. Breakfast bread basket. So that's cinnamon roll, buttermilk, biscuit, blueberry muffin croissant. That might be Ryan.

Speaker 1:

Ryan's a croissant connoisseur yes, and cinnamon roll.

Speaker 2:

He's a croissant-er, yes.

Speaker 1:

See what I did there.

Speaker 2:

Yes, Now I'm not going to go into detail of all these others, but you have your signature Eggs Benedict, you have Mediterranean Skillet, you have Mickey-shaped waffles Two Eggs your Way, steel-cut oatmeal, create your Own Omelet, biscuits and Gravy French Toast, buttermilk Pancakes, and then you can get sides of different things as well. Now for the kids, you have scrambled eggs, mickey-shaped waffles with syrup, minnie's multigrain cereal and Daisy's sand dollars with syrup. So that's more your pancakes instead of your waffles.

Speaker 1:

I think I'll just stick to the classic eggs, breakfast bacon, potatoes.

Speaker 2:

And overall, the prices aren't too bad. No, they're not. They're really not $14 for that.

Speaker 2:

I mean you're going to pay that at the parks. Yeah, two eggs, two eggs your way, that's 14. You're gonna pay that in the parks, at the resorts, like for the bigger platters and skillets and stuff. It's about 14. But you know, you could also just do you know sides of things and pay anywhere from 350 on up for that per per side. So you could kind of create your own and do you know, know a bagel, bacon and home fries, but then it all adds up to be about $14.

Speaker 1:

Just admit it you just want the kids Daisy Sand Dollars. That's all you want, right?

Speaker 2:

Well, I wonder if Daisy's on it.

Speaker 1:

I would hope so.

Speaker 2:

I know so.

Speaker 1:

Or are they just little mini pancakes?

Speaker 2:

Yeah, I don't know.

Speaker 1:

We'll have to find out. Yes, stay tuned. It's only $7. So stay tuned.

Speaker 2:

So yeah. So then after breakfast I say then we kind of walk around the resort a little bit, Eventually make our way over to the beach, Enjoy the beach for a couple hours.

Speaker 1:

And you said, the chairs and the umbrellas here are pretty cheap to rent.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, I believe the I think it's two chairs and an umbrella was like $30 or $35.

Speaker 1:

Which is more than half the price it was on where we stayed at, on 38.

Speaker 2:

Yes.

Speaker 1:

More than half less. Yes.

Speaker 2:

Yes, yeah, less than half. So I would hope, like Tuesday, wednesday, thursday, when we're at the beach, like I would do that.

Speaker 1:

Just hang out all day, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 2:

Hang out all day or you know, sometimes you know like we go back, say from like 12 to 2 or 12 to 3, either in the pool or inside, and then go back those last, you know, like a couple hours.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, midday we usually chill out in the room a little bit, or where we were staying at, and we'd go to the pool for them at time and then hang out in the room. So we're not at the beach all day long, because that sand can get pretty hot, yeah, so yeah, yeah, so we'll see what, like, the cutoff time is for the evening.

Speaker 2:

To like bring the chairs back and stuff, yeah, um, but you know that is an option. But even if we get out there like early enough in the morning and stay for a few hours, I'm okay with that price.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I'm good with that too.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, so beach then either pool or beach. If we're hungry, go back to the room. I think we eat lunch in the room here with like the stuff we got from the store the sandwich stuff yeah.

Speaker 2:

And then, like I said, probably the pool Relax, like the stuff we got from the store, the sandwich stuff, yeah and then, like I said, probably the pool Relax, maybe head back to the beach a little bit later, walk around, check out more of the sea turtle nest See what type of turtles. That'd be cool If they label them. They also have mini golf on property.

Speaker 2:

Cool I think it's nine holes and you do have to pay. I didn't see the price for it, but considering the price of the chair rentals, I would think this would be pretty reasonable as well.

Speaker 1:

So we get pretty competitive. This can either be really good or really bad, but the boys want to do it? No, we'll do it, but it can end bad. If yeah and this may be something we just get super competitive.

Speaker 2:

This may be something we even do multiple days. We may even try this on Tuesday, even though I'm saying Wednesday, and do it for a second time on this day. And then I didn't know you had talked about. They have grills on property if you want to grill your own food. I didn't know if this would be an evening where you would want to do that.

Speaker 1:

I could go get some steaks and make and grill some dinner.

Speaker 2:

So that's a possibility here.

Speaker 1:

Some corn on the cob.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, and then I would like to watch walk the beach like early nighttime as well. Yeah, we can do that. After grilling and then, depending on the boys, how we're feeling, sometimes the boys want to get back in the pool later at night and me and Zach just chill and have a couple of adult beverages while they do that, so that's a possibility on this evening as well all right, yes, sound like a good day, and then Thursday I'm saying we're gonna leave breakfast up to that day.

Speaker 2:

Do we just eat in the room? I guess we see what kind of stuff we have left to eat in the room, or do we head down to, you know, the restaurant and have some more breakfast down there before heading to the beach? And then I think we go back to the room after the beach for a couple hours, snack a little bit not so much a lunch on this day, like an early lunch. Anyway, I think we're gonna do a later lunch is what I'm getting at, okay, um, and then, you know, snack, then head to the pool, then after the pool, chill. Some maybe go to like a mid-afternoon lunch. There's a place that I think if you drive there it's like five minutes, but I think walking it's like 0.2 miles away from from the beach side called uh, beach bites and it's more of a deli, but they have like different types of sandwiches, salads and actually just a variety of foods.

Speaker 2:

So, um, a lot of, and it has a lot of good reviews on it as well so and it gets us away from the resort a little bit and I'm looking on the west one out there.

Speaker 1:

You can do fishing here too um at the resort.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, yeah take the boys, me and the boys maybe go try that out okay, that'd be fun, that's fine, because I mean we're gonna have time, yeah, so yeah oh, and you can wave runners.

Speaker 1:

Oh, that's like probably pretty expensive though I don't know, I don't know.

Speaker 2:

So yeah, but I want to check out that beach bites restaurant and um. You know we. It's up to you guys if you want to venture to other places. Further down, the actual vero beach and the like center of it all is about, I think, a 10 minute, 10 to 15 minute drive from the disney resort. So if we want to venture out and see more of vero beach, the menu at beach bites looks pretty good yeah, that's what I was saying.

Speaker 1:

You want to read some more of it, yeah I mean, it's just basic buffalo chicken and barbecue sandwiches. It's like sandwiches. They got corn dogs and sub sandwiches. Yeah, it's a pretty, pretty broad menu there.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, I mean go check that out yeah, and, like I said, you can get to it from the beach or you can drive.

Speaker 1:

Let's go to the beach.

Speaker 2:

Yeah.

Speaker 1:

Let's walk it from the beach.

Speaker 2:

Yep, and then, as I was saying, and you tuned me out again, I wasn't tuning you out, I was listening. Then I said I didn't know if you wanted, like if we were, if we did want to get in the car and drive to the actual like main, Vero Beach and see some things we could maybe yeah, we can go do that for sure, yeah, and then come back and enjoy.

Speaker 2:

You know this is our last day, so come back and enjoy more time at the beach pool. Uh, dinner can be at the resort, or if we decide hey, remember that.

Speaker 2:

Like if we do go into vero beach, you know, and see some other restaurants that grab our attention, maybe head back that way because it's really again, it's just, it's it's not that far, but back that way, because it's really again, it's just it's not that far but it is. You know, like it's not like walking distance or around the block, like you still have to go, you know, like I said, in the car for about 10 or 15 minutes but that's still not far. Yeah, if we saw something that got our attention. And then you know, in the night we with just coming back packing, relaxing before bed because we got to get ready for the full drive back home the next day.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I'm not looking forward to the full drive home, but yeah, no, it's going to be a fun, relaxing trip. I have bought some recording stuff that we can record portably on the go so we may do an episode next week while we're relaxing out by the pool and the boys are playing in the pool Kind of give you a rundown of what we initially think about it. Yeah, sounds like a great week, though.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, for sure. I mean, and you know some people I know, when you go to the beach like you like to go places and like go, go, go and find go karts and all these other things, but we like to go and just finally chill because, like spring and fall is always super busy for us with the boys, with soccer, and it's just you know it's time to just thoroughly relax and it's right after school gets out and so it just you know it's what we need and what we enjoy.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, the boys look forward to shutting down too, because it's just, they're ready for everything, like, yes, it's great to be during the soccer seasons and go, go, go, but when it's over and done with, like, they're happy to finally just okay, let's. Tryouts are done, practice is done, we got summer workouts we got to do, but it's not every day, and so so they enjoy just shutting down and this is good relax time for them too.

Speaker 2:

Yes, yes, now you know, a few weeks down the road they'll be ready to go again.

Speaker 1:

Yeah.

Speaker 2:

But yeah, so I'm just looking forward to it. You know, I'm looking forward to the beach, I'm looking forward to still being at a Disney resort and hoping that it feels a little bit like Disney. They do have a gift shop there with like Disney merch and apparel and some specific Vero Beach attire, you know, and so I'm sure we'll leave with something. And yeah, I'm just, you know, I'm looking forward to it. You know it's not your Disney Disney trip, but it's still Disney.

Speaker 1:

Is it going to feel like we're in the bubble?

Speaker 2:

I don't think it'll feel like the bubble, but who knows?

Speaker 1:

It might.

Speaker 2:

Because it may, since it's the only resort right there.

Speaker 1:

There's nothing else real, because I've looked at it on Google Maps. There's really nothing else around it.

Speaker 2:

Right, I mean you know that Beach Bites place, but but other than that, again you have to go in the car for a few minutes. Yeah.

Speaker 1:

Maybe it will. I'm looking forward to it. I have no expectations going into it.

Speaker 2:

Right, no, none, no, but I don't know. I'm looking forward to it and, like Zach was saying, we may do an episode or two while we're there. We'll see, but not going to promise it either.

Speaker 1:

Also maybe an excursion up to kennedy space center, I don't know. When I looked online, tickets were very expensive right and it's the week of memorial day, yeah, so how much are we going to actually see and get done, because it's going to be so crowded? Right some of my co-workers were saying, because some of my co-workers from that area if there's a launch, that's the one you'd want to go, because that would be cool to witness a launch from Kennedy and the boys. Ryan is gifted in science. He would love that.

Speaker 2:

Yeah.

Speaker 1:

Just absolutely would love that. So that may be something that we look into. I haven't really looked that much into it, but I will probably this weekend.

Speaker 2:

I mean, we've talked, talked about before, and we were really all about going, and then when you saw the prices and stuff you know, and then we were like that's going to take up a good portion of a day, because it's a two-hour drive. It's going to be a full day yeah, and so I would love to go there one day. I just don't know if this is the trip for it.

Speaker 1:

I remember when we first went to walt disney world when we were in the orlando's airport, there was like this big ad for kennedy space center and I was like I want to go there and but now it's like like this is our chill and relax time.

Speaker 2:

I don't feel like that would be a very chill, relaxing day yeah, and I think maybe if we were like here a couple more days maybe yeah but we only have like three full three days to just unwind and recharge and all that.

Speaker 1:

So yeah, maybe not. We'll see. I want to look at the launch schedule. Maybe, if there is a launch, we might be able to see it from the beach.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, maybe.

Speaker 1:

At Vero Beach, Because it's not. I mean, it's two hours south, but it's not that far.

Speaker 2:

I thought it was more like an hour and a half. You keep saying two hours.

Speaker 1:

Last time I looked, it was like an hour and a half to two hours. Okay, so it's not. You would definitely see it, mm-hmm. So.

Speaker 2:

I don't know. So something else I meant to mention as well for Disney's Vero Beach Resort is if you enjoy, you know, facials and massages like the spa treatment, they have a spa there.

Speaker 1:

Now, I didn't book anything but you looked at the pricing list I have it pulled up now, so it is a little pricey.

Speaker 2:

You know it's, it's it, it's well, it depends. It depends on if you do like a 50 minute massage or an 80 minute, and you know it is a little pricey, but I haven't gone to a spa in so long. This this might be your traditional prices now.

Speaker 1:

What is? How much does a 50-minute massage cost?

Speaker 2:

A 50-minute Swedish relaxation massage is $150.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, it seems a little pricey. I thought it'd be around $100. Maybe I don't know that may be the going price now that's what I was saying. We haven't gone to get massages in years, yeah, so.

Speaker 2:

Yep, but anyway, they offer a lot of different types of massages. They also have facials, and then they have like body wrap treatments and some other things as well, and then they also do gel manicures, polish change, foot and leg relief treatments. So you know your traditional manicure, pedicures and all that as well. So you know that's something to keep in mind when you're booking your trip. If that is something that you like to do on your vacations, they offer that there as well.

Speaker 1:

You at least probably get manicures and pedicures there, right.

Speaker 2:

Who me? Yeah, I don't know if I'll have time or not. And I don't know if I'll have time or not, and I don't know if you have to have like an appointment, you know. Okay, so which? My manicure is fine, maybe a pity.

Speaker 1:

All right, yes, anything else you would like to talk about?

Speaker 2:

No, just like I don't know if when we said Zach may grill one day, if that confused you when we said we just have like a standard room, but they have grills throughout the property they have, like those charcoal grills outside right.

Speaker 2:

Yes, yeah, yeah, it is charcoal and it says you know, enjoy, you know, have family fun with it and stuff. And if you do go for a longer period of time or you go with younger kids, there is laundry and dry cleaning services available as well, and villas will have with one or more bedrooms. They do feature an in-unit washer and dryer, so I know for some families that is very important.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, all right. So if you got nothing else, I'll go to Disney trivia.

Speaker 2:

That's your way of like. Are you done talking?

Speaker 1:

I'm just asking because if you have more, I will.

Speaker 2:

No, you know, that's pretty much it again, looking forward to it, hope it has that disney feel and it may feel like the bubble, since there's nothing else around.

Speaker 1:

That's what I'm hoping. Yes, all right. So for disney trivia this week. This week's question was what was the first disney resort built that was not, again, not associated with a theme park, and what year was it?

Speaker 2:

I did not know.

Speaker 1:

So lots of people chimed in and were saying like the Disney resorts, but they're associated with the Disney parks.

Speaker 2:

Right.

Speaker 1:

And then I had some people say All-Stars, but they're associated with Walt Disney World. So what resort was built outside of the theme park areas, right? So not associated with any theme parks like Disneyland, walt Disney World, tokyo Disney, none of those. Does that make sense?

Speaker 2:

Yes, okay, but I can see where there was confusion.

Speaker 1:

I can see the confusion, but this week's answer is Disney's. Vero Beach was the first Disney resort built away from any theme park, not associated with any theme park, and the year was 1995.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, and I didn't realize it was built that far back.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, so 1995 was the year it was built and unfortunately this week there is no Disney trivia winner. Aw Romp romp Disney trivia winner Aw Rawr, rawr, rawr, aw. So lots of good answers and good guesses, but no winner this week.

Speaker 2:

Mm-hmm.

Speaker 1:

So we won't have whoa, whoa, whoa.

Speaker 2:

Sorry, sorry, sorry. I think this is worth mentioning. So yeah, so we didn't have a winner this week, but I did want to say there is another place in vero beach that is called the green cabin room and it's come aboard, this inviting nautical lounge at cocktail hour or dessert time. So it is more, you know, mainly for adults. It's more of an intimate bar gaze c word from the deck um, and it's supposed to be have theming like spanish galleons that once sailed these waters. Legend has it that one such vessel, the san martin ship, wrecked just offshore in 1618. So you can have cocktails and light bites at sunset, or coffee and house made treats beneath the moonlight, uh. So again, it's called the Green Cabin Room and this is inside the resort.

Speaker 1:

Well, I know where you can find me while I'm doing my writing. I'll be there.

Speaker 2:

All right. Well, it's open 8 to 11 and 5 to 10 pm.
