Speaker 2:

Hello and welcome to Circle of Parks podcast episode number 154. Today we are starting a new series about food you can only find in certain Disney parks, and today we are kicking it off with food you can only find at Magic Kingdom. There is far too much to see and do. We are here to help guide you through, but before we do that, we must talk Disney merch.

Speaker 2:

So this week's Disney merch it's actually Disney Vacation Club Pink Mickey ears, and the reason why I mentioned this is because they are so cute and we happened to see them when we were at Disney's Vero Beach Resort. It has a globe in the middle of the bow. It has hotel resort icons that are part of DVC, that are priced at $38 and can be found at Disney DVC Resorts, and I just thought they were super cute. So, even though I typically don't do something that is DVC, I thought these deserved some attention. So that is this week's Disney merch. We also have merch. So if you go to circleofparkscom, click on merch, it takes you directly to the Tee Public website. You can find things with our logo, such as stickers, coffee mugs, sweatshirts, t-shirts and more. So please go check that out, and you have to be a DVC member to get those mugs sweatshirts, t-shirts and more.

Speaker 1:

So please go check that out, and you have to, only you have to be a DVC member to get those.

Speaker 2:

The ears, the ears, yes, you have to be DVC. You can't just go up and buy them, you can try.

Speaker 1:

They're not going to sell them to you.

Speaker 2:

But they're very cute.

Speaker 1:

Yes. So thank you everybody for joining us. Episode number 154. We're talking about food Good thing, because I'm hungry and I'm getting ready to grill after this. So we need to speed this along and Walt Disney World is not really known for food. Right, they've done a really good job, I'll say, within the past 10 years, of trying to change that with Disney Springs and upping the level of food at the parks, and I think they've done a pretty good job of that. But when you think of disney, you don't think of high-end food or or good food, but they've done a good job of trying to change that. Now, the magic kingdom, probably as far as food diversity goes, is probably the worst park for food in Walt Disney World. Do you agree or disagree?

Speaker 2:

I would agree. I think they're trying to step it up with certain twists on things at certain locations, but even then it's still not going to be quite as adventurous.

Speaker 1:

It's not, but there are a few exceptions here and we're going to talk about those and some snacks here that you can only find in the Magic Kingdom nowhere else. They're kind of unique Again. They kind of go along with the typical sugary theme park snack, but they are unique to here. And then we're going to talk about a couple of restaurants that are unique to the Magic Kingdom that are kind of bucking that trend of Magic Kingdom being the worst park for food.

Speaker 2:

Right Now you mentioned a lot are sweet, but several are savory as well.

Speaker 1:

They are, yes, so there are some good snacks here, and I think we'll just get right into it. Brittany, what is again? These are in no particular order, but these are, in our opinion, the more unique stuff you can get in the magic name instead of just hot dogs, burgers and, well, mickey pretzels to an extent yes, so we will dive in. Well, let's go get into it yes, so the first place now.

Speaker 2:

He did say they're not in any particular order, but this may be one of my favorite snacks that's true, yes, where it's ranked here, maybe number one yes, so that is. Uh, you can find them at the spring roll cart outside adventure land, and they are spring rolls, so they often have the cheeseburger spring roll and the pepperoni pizza one yes but sometimes the pepperoni one can get changed out yeah, the cheeseburger one has been on there since we started going. Right.

Speaker 1:

That's never changed, but the pepperoni one has come back. I think that's been the normal one but has been changed out for like the 50th anniversary or the 100th year or stuff like that, and it does rotate through and so that one can rotate, but right now it is pepperoni and they are both delicious.

Speaker 2:

Yes, I think I like the cheeseburger one slightly better than the pepperoni, but they are both very good. Both our boys enjoy both of them as well. Now, during the 50th, when it wasn't the pepperoni you had, or should I not say that right now?

Speaker 1:

You can talk about it.

Speaker 2:

Okay, there was like a pastrami version. It was so good, it was really good, and that was the special one for the 50th and then the 100th, I guess. They came out with a chicken cordon bleu which we never tried that one.

Speaker 1:

We never tried that one, no.

Speaker 2:

And then, shortly after that, I think for just a short time, they went to Buffalo Chicken chicken before bringing the pepperoni back.

Speaker 1:

We haven't had. I want to try the Buffalo chicken. Yes, but this is just as you walk in Adventureland from the hub it's to the right. It looks like it's just a very unassuming cart, but then there's a long line.

Speaker 2:

Yes.

Speaker 1:

So you know what my theory is about unassuming things with long lines, that's it's going to be good. It's going to be good. It was like when we were in Vero Beach and there was a long line of contractors waiting to get food at this little hole-in-the-wall restaurant.

Speaker 2:

All Beach Bites Beach.

Speaker 1:

Bites. It's just like it was a little dumpy-looking gas station really Delicious.

Speaker 2:

Yes.

Speaker 1:

So if you see a long line of people waiting for something probably going to be really good yes, Because people don't wait for bad stuff.

Speaker 2:

Right Correct, so yes.

Speaker 1:

So please, please, please, please, check that out. It is delicious, and so I tried to find a link for this on disney's website. Disney doesn't even advertise this on their the disney worlddisneygov website yes, they don't even advertise it.

Speaker 2:

Stumble on it, you just got to know about it.

Speaker 1:

Yeah and they are amazing yes, very, very good.

Speaker 2:

So the next one again. No particular order in this one. We personally have not tried, or did we get it the first trip?

Speaker 1:

ryan has had this okay. Okay, because you know how he is with this type of you and I have not tried it I took one bite.

Speaker 2:

okay, so it is the, the cheshire cattail, and the description is a twisted pastry filled with chocolate chips and drizzled with pink and purple icing, and you can find this at the Cheshire Cafe.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, just right next to the Cosmic Rays and the teacups. Yes, it's right there on the corner. Right there they also the Cheshire Cattail. You can only get here. It's like a flaky croissant. That's why Ryan's had it Right, yeah. With chocolate in it, so it's pretty good. Again, I don't really like a lot of sweet stuff, but it's very unique to Magic Kingdom only.

Speaker 2:

Right and the icing's not overwhelming, it's just kind of drizzled. Yes, yeah.

Speaker 1:

But they also have a very unique pretzel here. You pretzel. Here you can get the Pepper Jack cheese stuffed pretzel. Now, we have not had this yet, but I think that may be something because you like Pepper Jack cheese.

Speaker 2:

I love Pepper Jack. Yes, Is this something we may get on our next trip? We may. There's a few things on today's list that I'm like, ooh okay, well, we got to try that and we got to try that, but we got to keep in mind how our trip will be for this park as well but I think, chesh, that that is unique to here in that pepper jack stuffed make you pretzel is unique to magic kingdom.

Speaker 1:

I don't think you can find those anywhere else at least I didn't find anything anywhere else for the stuffed pretzels right?

Speaker 2:

yeah, I don't think so well, oh, excuse me, I'm so sorry, guys, um, I think it's that summer schedule.

Speaker 1:

She's, you know, sleeping all day, staying up all night sorry, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 2:

So I think there are some, uh, other options that with pretzels, like with different dipping sauces other than like the regular cheese sauce and stuff, but this one does sound more I don't think they're stuffed, though, with the cheese yeah, well, we'll see yeah, all right, moving on to one of our favorite places, britney, and this has two options for breakfast and lunch I might see my mouth watering

Speaker 2:

yes so at sleepy hollow. One of my favorites here is the strawberries. It was the fruit waffle, but it comes with strawberries, blueberries and a chocolate hazelnut spread. It is very filling, but it is so delicious and it is huge. It's something like if you have a spouse that's not as picky as Zach, you might split it.

Speaker 1:

I'm eating fruit now.

Speaker 2:

Now you are, but back when I got it before you're like I don't want it.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, and the fresh fruit waffle sandwich is $8.49. And this is only offered for breakfast and it is a good breakfast item. It's shareable, delicious, kind of healthy, right Kind of.

Speaker 2:

Healthier with the fruit.

Speaker 1:

You get a good view of the castle.

Speaker 2:

You do the way, it's kind of tucked in, you get a different side view.

Speaker 1:

Yes, and you can also get Mickey waffles for breakfast.

Speaker 2:

Yes, and you can get a funnel cake with strawberries and powdered sugar.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, but funnel cakes aren't really unique to here, but you can get them here. Yes, also for lunch and dinner. So that is for breakfast only, but for lunch and dinner you can also get a sweet and spicy chicken waffle sandwich for $11.59 with broccoli slaw and honey sriracha glaze served with house-made chips. Me and the boys have had this and this is delicious.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, it looked delicious.

Speaker 1:

Very big piece of chicken cooked well. It's on a waffle, that sauce. It's got a little bit of a spice to it, but not overwhelming. It's Disney, so it's not overwhelming.

Speaker 2:

I think the honey balances that sriracha.

Speaker 1:

It is delicious and, again, shareable Between the three of us. We were done. It was enough for all of us, and that is something you will only find here at the Magic Kingdom. Correct Also for Sleepy Hollow. Again, sleepy Hollow is in the as you're going from the hub into Liberty Square. It's on the right-hand side. Little bitty place.

Speaker 2:

Yes, it is little bitty. Well, you were saying you can only find there. But there are other versions of chicken and waffles that you can get elsewhere.

Speaker 1:

Right, but for this this is the only that you can get elsewhere, right, but for this, this is the only place you can get it mobile order you can mobile order here. I cannot say that enough. There will be a long line of people. Do not wait in that line, don't do it. You can mobile order. There's usually available times right when you're there. It'll usually take just a few minutes. There's a separate mobile order window on the side. Don't go where everybody else is. Go to the side. It'll say mobile order and wait for your order to be called. Right there again. Great, great selections here for sleepy hollow. What is next?

Speaker 2:

oh, this is our first full restaurant so next is the columbia harbor house, so columbia harbor. You can get meals here at lunch and dinner. It is located in Liberty Square and there's room to sit downstairs as well as upstairs. We've talked about it before. Upstairs is a lot more quieter, less crowded. You can get good views of Liberty Square from up there, and there are a few items on here. Now one is you could get it just as a side item or a part of your meal. It's their hush puppies. So their hush puppies are unique in that, yes, it's your, your hush puppy, but there's more corn and the batter is more of a cornmeal batter and they are just delicious and see my mouth's watering again. And then there are several other items here that are unique as well so this is.

Speaker 1:

You can get your typical theme park fried food here. However, there are healthier options that are very good as well. They have a lobster roll for $16.99. New England shrimp boil for $16.29. That comes with shrimp, potatoes, corn and dewy sausage cooked in a spice broth served with warm Parker House rolls. They have a maple mustard glazed salmon served with green beans and rice. I actually had that when I went. Was it in April that I went?

Speaker 2:

Yes, yes, I believe so.

Speaker 1:

Delicious, that's $14.79. A grilled shrimp skewer served with rice and green beans $14.49. You got that fried trio platter of fried shrimp, chicken strips and battered fish, served with the famous hush puppies that Brittany was talking about and fries for $14.29.

Speaker 2:

I can't do that anymore.

Speaker 1:

It is so good, but all that fried stuff.

Speaker 2:

You need a break from that.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, he used to get that, like the first two times we went, but then the rest of the day he was like oh, I'm too full they have a sea captain's fish sandwich battered fish, red cabbage slaw, tartar sauce and fries and then a mixed green salad and then you get your chicken strips and for the kids if you want like a healthier option for the kids, they have fried shrimp chicken strips or you can get like the grilled shrimp for them as well and grilled salmon. Now, the prices here are a little bit on the price your side, but you're getting better quality food, yes, and if you're on the disney dining plan, you are definitely getting the value of the quick service for this. You're definitely getting your money's worth out of the quick service dining credit for this, because the food's a little bit elevated and it costs a little bit more is delicious. So give your stomach a break from all the fried greasy stuff and get like the shrimp skewer or the salmon or maybe the lobster roll.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, it is a healthier option and the food is good, so it is worth that price.

Speaker 1:

It is. Go upstairs, shh, don't tell anybody. Go upstairs, it is so much more peaceful. Great for people watching and mobile order. Do not forget to mobile order here. When I was there in April, I saw a line of about 15 people waiting just to order not waiting on their food, waiting just to order and half of them were just playing on their phones. I'm like, why don't you just order your food now? I waited two minutes when they called my number. Yeah, done. So don't forget mobile order. And this is one of the restaurants that I think is bucking that trend in the Magic Kingdom of being bad food. This has some very good options that's delicious and healthier for you.

Speaker 2:

Right.

Speaker 1:

Do you agree?

Speaker 2:

No, I agree, I agree for sure. All right, moving on to the next one.

Speaker 1:

This is not healthy for you.

Speaker 2:

So it's called Westward Ho, it is in Frontierland and we personally have not stopped here. Yes, but this has got my attention Candied bacon skewer. It is brown sugar coated and it is also served with chips for $9.99. Now all the pictures and everything I've seen of it. It looks like a very healthy, good sized piece of bacon, now healthy. Like a very healthy, good-sized piece of bacon, now healthy. In a sense, not good for you, but size-wise.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, okay, good call, yes. So I love bacon and I love meat. I do not like really thick-cut bacon. It's too chewy for me and so that's why I have not gotten this. But it is a thicker cut. If you go to a nicer restaurant and you get pork belly, thicker cut, think if you go to a nicer restaurant and you get like pork belly.

Speaker 1:

That's what this is, except candy coated, so you're getting all the bacon goodness with the sweetness Sounds delicious. It's $9 and 99 cents. Very unique to here, yeah, very frontier landish, if you know what I mean. Yes, and it's across from where? Um, what's the show that we didn't go see? No, no, no, wrong place.

Speaker 2:

Sorry, the Bears Country Bears.

Speaker 1:

The Country Bear Jamboree. It's across from there, next to the Rivers of America. It's a little cart. Sometimes you'll see a line there, sometimes you won't, just depends.

Speaker 2:

But yeah, yeah. So I don't know that one might not be one that I would try next time we're there, but it did have my attention.

Speaker 1:

I'm going to pass.

Speaker 2:

All right, next on the list, you can find this in Fantasyland at Gaston's Tower. There's a couple of items here, actually.

Speaker 1:

Gaston's Tower.

Speaker 2:

Tavern Tavern Sorry, gaston's Tavern in Fantasyland. So there are multiple places that you can get cinnamon rolls. However, this one, the size alone, is like the size of the plate, but besides your typical icing, they also add some maple icing to it too, and that is some of the difference here that you're not going to find at cinnamon rolls elsewhere in Walt Disney.

Speaker 1:

World that explains it, and and it is $6.99.

Speaker 2:

Now there is a beverage here as well. Now I don't recommend getting both of them together, because they are both super sweet.

Speaker 1:

Get both of them together if you want, like a major head rush and you want your kids to go crazy for the next hour or two and then completely crash.

Speaker 2:

Yes, so it is called LeFou's Brew and it is frozen apple juice with a hint of toasted marshmallow and topped with all natural passion fruit mango foam.

Speaker 1:

So here's what you do you get a huge bite of the warm cinnamon roll right, throw some extra icing on there, shove that in your mouth and then take a huge swig of LeFou's brew.

Speaker 2:

LeFou's brew yeah.

Speaker 1:

That'll send you somewhere else, man.

Speaker 2:

But alone they are both delicious, and I mean even by itself. The LeFou's brew is a little bit too sweet for me, but it is good. And then this is. I'm going to go ahead and mention this. This is one other place where you can get the Gray Stuff cupcake.

Speaker 2:

It's delicious, it's delicious and it is priced at $5.79. So if you're a Beauty and the Beast fan and you've heard about the Gray Stuff and you want to try it on a cupcake, you can get that here again for $5.79. It is a chocolate cupcake topped with the Gray Stuff and crispy pearls.

Speaker 1:

That is true. You don't have to pay $80 a person to go eat at what's the restaurant again.

Speaker 2:

Be Our Guest, be Our.

Speaker 1:

Guest. Yes, and the theming in here is really really good.

Speaker 2:

It is.

Speaker 1:

Very on point, very detailed Again, just like they always do, but they did a really good job with the theming here and I'm going to let a little secret out. The restrooms back here never crowded, it's between us, don't tell anybody. All right. So if you would love to get just a sugar head rush by eating the stuff and you need help planning it, you know to reach out to you, right who is that the?

Speaker 1:

Also, if you book with our travel planner, travel Planner Erica, for Walt Disney World, she's going to throw an additional $25 on top of that. If you book Disneyland with our Travel Planner, erica, she's going to throw a $100 gift card on top of that. Because it is her home park, beloved, she can't wait to go back.

Speaker 2:

Yes and yeah, I mean that. Because it is her home park, beloved, she can't wait to go back. Yes and yeah, I mean all of that. What you said about wanting to do adventures by disney in southern california, we definitely want to do that sometime, maybe in the next couple of years.

Speaker 1:

Yes, yes uh, if you want to go check them out, go check their website out wwwmainstreettravelcocom. They're on instagram, facebook and youtube. And again our favorite thing about them, again our favorite thing about them at least my favorite thing about them you can call them 1-800-593-1262. They have an actual office. Call them Monday through Friday, 10 am 5 pm, central Time. These are not part-time agents that will get back to you when they can. They're ready, full-time, ready to take your call and book that vacation. Tell them again we sent you to take advantage of those amazing offers and their amazing customer service and just friendliness and they really, truly want you to have the best vacation they can. And I'm so glad we've partnered with them, we've become friends with them.

Speaker 2:

They're just great yeah, and you know travel planning planner erica, like she has gotten to know us so well, I mean, from the get-go she was a great listener, listened to our wants, that we wanted what we like, you know foods, all of that stuff, and so she makes things very personable and she stays on top of you know the dates that we need to book our dining and I'm like, oh, it is time, isn't it? Yes, we want to stick to this plan. Or, oh, actually we want to try this restaurant instead. So they are great, please check them out.

Speaker 1:

All right, so we're moving along. We're going to another little quick service place, brittany. Where are we going?

Speaker 2:

We are now going to the Friar's Nook, and this is another one located in Fantasyland, and we haven't tried here.

Speaker 1:

No, the menu here just doesn't look that enticing for us and there's always a long wait. Yes, menu here just doesn't look that enticing for us and there's always a long wait.

Speaker 2:

yes, you can mobile order, but just there are other places, I think I would rather eat yeah, and same like just me.

Speaker 2:

Even the stuff that I'm about to mention like it. To me they do sound good, but it's not something that I personally want to eat in the theme parks and it's kind of sit heavy on me exactly. So they are apparently known for their bacon macaroni and they tend to add this to the bacon the creamy bacon and macaroni and cheese is added to things such as hot dogs here and tater tots, and so if you get the bacon, macaroni and cheese hot dog, it is served with just regular tots and it's priced at $12.79. Or if you want just the creamy bacon, macaroni and cheese tots, that is $11.49. Now they do have another unique item on here that is curry brat tots.

Speaker 1:

Say that 10 times fast.

Speaker 2:

Curry brat. Tots. There you go and it is tots topped with chopped bratwurst, curry ketchup and apple slaw and that is priced at $11.49.

Speaker 1:

Again, I don't think we'll be going here. There's nothing on there that I'm like.

Speaker 2:

I have to try that right, right, right, but again some unique items.

Speaker 1:

All right Now. Probably one of the most famous things actually started here in the Magic Kingdom, brittany. Where are we going? Aloha Island there you go.

Speaker 2:

Dole Whip and you can have anything from that traditional pineapple Dole Whip to some more specialty items here. Now this is one you know. I know you can get some swirl Dole Whips throughout Walt Disney World and even at Vero Beach, but it's often paired with vanilla. Now you can get it here at Aloha Isle. You can get it swirled with the pineapple and coconut. That's yours, and that is my absolute favorite way to have it Now. Another unique item they have here is the Tropical Serenade, and it is pineapple, orange, guava juice, pog juice.

Speaker 2:

Pog juice. Pog juice, coconut soft serve and an upside down pineapple cake pop for $7.99.

Speaker 1:

You need to get that next time.

Speaker 2:

I need to, and when I was looking into this a lot of people were just ranting and raving about it. Now I don't know if I could have the whole thing. It sounds super sweet to me, but I would try it yeah.

Speaker 1:

Be good Instagram stuff, very Instagrammy.

Speaker 2:

Yes, but again, my go-to here is the swirl with the pineapple and coconut, because oftentimes you cannot find that coconut elsewhere.

Speaker 1:

And you can also just get dull pineapple juice here, and a great way to eat this is go next door and watch the tiki room show yes, and then if you can get right in, that's even better. So this is not melting in the florida heat. Yes, and you can. The only other place you could get them prior to, I think, 2022 was at the dole farm in hawaii.

Speaker 2:

Then yes, yeah, or 2020. I don't know. They've been around for a while.

Speaker 1:

Right, but the only place outside of Walt.

Speaker 2:

Disney World. You could get them. Yes, I misunderstood, sorry.

Speaker 1:

I just wrote about this. I know what I'm talking about.

Speaker 2:

Okay.

Speaker 1:

Was the Dole Farm. I think it was. 2020 or 2022 is when they started allowing them in grocery stores.

Speaker 2:

Right, yeah, but no, that makes sense because in the last couple of years is when I've started seeing them in grocery stores.

Speaker 1:

It's not the same.

Speaker 2:

No, no, it's not. You know, and there are, you know. Maybe I'm not going to throw names out or anything, but you know there's other places, probably throughout the United States, that try to say they taste just like the Dull Whips you have in Walt Disney World. It's not the same, it's not, it's not. So, moving on to the next place, now, we haven't personally done this, but if you go to Main Street to the confectionery, you can build your own popcorn from so many different toppings.

Speaker 1:

This looks like if you're into sweets. Yeah, I love popcorn, but I'm like a popcorn purist. I don't want anything else my popcorn. This can, you can go crazy with this right. So many different toppings, so many different flavors so many different candies. This is more of like a souvenir kind of thing, I think.

Speaker 2:

Take it home maybe I don't know like eat on it in the car on the way back, because it's like that, that's a lot. Yeah, but that is something again that we probably wouldn't do. But like, we like the confectionery, but not mixing all the popcorn up.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, so, yeah, so do you. I couldn't find the flavors.

Speaker 2:

I couldn't either. I was kind of hoping you would dive into it more.

Speaker 1:

I wrote about it, but I don't have my book stuff up.

Speaker 2:

Usually, when I can't find something, then you do.

Speaker 1:

So I'll tell you where you go in the Main Street Confectionery, though. When you walk in the main entrance from Main Street USA and you have the big counter in the middle, go to the right and it's kind of back in the corner back there in the right. But when you go to the website, it doesn't really have a lot of details. But I know, trust me, there are a ton of options, a ton of flavors, a ton of toppings, everything you found it. No, I'm trying, it's a lot and it is unique only to the Main Street Confectionery.

Speaker 2:

Yes, keep talking.

Speaker 1:

All right, so we're going to move along.

Speaker 2:

Well, I didn't mean like stay on the confectionery for a minute.

Speaker 1:

So you know they are sponsored by Mars Candy Company.

Speaker 2:

Did you know they're only sponsored? They are sponsored by mars candy company did you know that.

Speaker 1:

I forgot about that and you can only get mars. That's why you see the mars cup like all that you can get, like classic mars branded stuff in there. It's still the same like, but the, the branding is a little like old-timey. And the story, the backstory, is the chocolatiers. You'll see pictures of them up on top of the, the window not the window, but the wall above the cash register. There's a story to all them. They won like contests back in their hometown and they became famous for that and they got some kind of cool little names. I forgot the names off the top of my head but yeah, when they did the reefer back in 2020 to 2021, they completely rethemed it. It looks really good, very bright. It's a lot of white around there and it was kind of before. It's kind of dark and dim, wasn't it?

Speaker 1:

yes and so they really made it a lot brighter and a lot more welcoming to walk into, and this is where you can find your candy apples and your rice crispy treats and those get stale, though.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, and I mean they have lots of cookies and brownies and fudge, all of that good stuff. So what I was able to find now I don't know if these have changed, but you pick your popcorn flavor and it's usually between caramel, rainbow butter flavor or cheddar, and then you select a syrup dark chocolate, milk chocolate or white chocolate. Then you can combine with different candies, such as M&M's peanut, m&m's peanut butter, m&m's fudge brownie, m&m's almond, m&m's Skittles, snickers, twix, chocolate cookies, pretzel pieces, marshmallows, and if you get popcorn plus two toppings and syrup, it's $12.99. If you get popcorn plus three toppings and syrup, it is $13.99. And any additional topping then after that is $1. So you can load it up and have it super duper sweet. But I'm like Zach, like I can do, you know, like, like caramel popcorn during Christmas time, like that kind of thing. But as far as loading it up with syrup and all that stuff, that's just not me.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, that's just too much for me, but if that's your thing, there you go. There you go. All right, we're staying on Main Street. Where are we staying on Main Street at?

Speaker 2:

We're going towards the end.

Speaker 1:

We're going to the end of Main Street, USA the corner.

Speaker 2:

Casey's Corner in fact, and at Casey's Corner now, this is one place currently that you can get a frozen mint julep lemonade.

Speaker 1:

Yes.

Speaker 2:

And so that is classically blended mint julep featuring Minute Maid premium lemonade topped with fresh mint leaves, cherry and lemon.

Speaker 1:

Hot take Mm-hmm when we were in Disneyland. I did not like the. I mean it wasn't bad Right, but I didn't like it.

Speaker 2:

I didn't get all the hype that people had around it. I don't get it. Yeah, yeah.

Speaker 1:

Because the whole thing is, you got to get a beignet and a mint julep. Beignets were great, oh delicious.

Speaker 2:

Mint julep yeah.

Speaker 1:

I could do without yeah.

Speaker 2:

Now, I don't know, Maybe this frozen mint julep lemonade might taste a little different. I don't know.

Speaker 1:

Sounds like it'd be sweeter.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, now Casey's Corner. Yes, they're known for hot dogs and their lovely corn dog nuggets with the plastic cheese.

Speaker 1:

That's mainly. What we're talking about here is the corn dog nuggets, because you can get a hot dog anywhere.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, and you can find the corn dog nuggets at a few other places now. You used to not be able to and so uh. But you can get the corn dog nuggets with the plastic cheese here, and that is one thing that they were known for. Now they do sometimes I don't know how often, but bring special hot dogs on the menu, and their current specialty is the chipotle barbecue all beef foot long hot dog and that is topped with pulled pork slaw in Chipotle barbecue sauce for $15.79.

Speaker 1:

So I will say this even though they're just hot dogs, they are really good.

Speaker 2:

I don't know what it is. I don't know if it's because you're at Magic Kingdom or what.

Speaker 1:

But a hot dog from Casey's tastes better than any other hot dog you will ever have in your entire life.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, and I'm usually not huge on corn dogs, much less corn dog nuggets.

Speaker 1:

And I have to get these with the plastic cheese. Well, when I got them at Vero Beach, you're like, no, I don't want any. I'm like what is it different?

Speaker 2:

It's the same thing? I don't know it just wasn't Casey's Corner. Yeah.

Speaker 1:

You're just not on mainstream USA. Yeah, when I'm there, I have to have them Because I didn't get the processed chemical batch of yellow stuff.

Speaker 2:

That's why you didn't get the cheese.

Speaker 1:

That's not even cheese.

Speaker 2:

I did, but just let me.

Speaker 1:

Just let it be yes, your cup of cheese.

Speaker 2:

But the corn dog nuggets at Casey's Corner you can get them with a choice of french fries or a cuties mandarin for $10.79.

Speaker 1:

Got to offset all of that processed stuff with the cutie huh.

Speaker 2:

Yes.

Speaker 1:

Also mobile. Do you use this mobile order here? Yes, for sure they get really busy, especially closer to fireworks it is crazy here Mobile order and if you're using the dining plan plan, that plastic cheese will cost you a snack credit. So make sure you take that off of your.

Speaker 2:

I didn't make the rules. You're looking at me like I'm the one that came up with it.

Speaker 1:

I didn't come up with that. Yeah, there's a way you can go in the app and take that off of your mobile order, so you do not get charged a snack credit for that and just pay extra on your own and just pay.

Speaker 2:

It's like a dollar yeah.

Speaker 1:

So your snack credit's worth. I think Darth Mouse said what $6.50?.

Speaker 2:

I think so, and this costs it all.

Speaker 1:

You're wasting a snack credit by getting the plastic cheese. Yeah.

Speaker 2:

So Not worth your money.

Speaker 1:

Not worth it. Where are we going next?

Speaker 2:

All right. Next we're going to Tomorrowland Antigravity's Galactic Goodies.

Speaker 1:

All right. So this is like your ice cream place here, but more than that. But it's more than that, and I'm looking at the menu right now Churros, do not get a churro here.

Speaker 2:

Not at Magic Kingdom. Now you know, your best churros are Disneyland and another park in Walt Disney World that we'll talk about later on.

Speaker 1:

Yes, so what are we here for, though?

Speaker 2:

So they have this asteroid shake. It is a chocolate shake with hot fudge, whipped cream, chocolate, donut holes and graham cracker crumbs for $8.79.

Speaker 1:

That's a lot of money for a shake.

Speaker 2:

It is, but you've got to think what all comes with it Now. That, personally, would be way too sweet for me, but it is a unique item that you are only going to find here.

Speaker 1:

It is, and I'm not sure if you can mobile order it anti-gravities or not, but check your app just in case. Correct, all right, moving on.

Speaker 2:

Moving on. We are staying in Tomorrowland and going to the lunching pad.

Speaker 1:

The lunching pad is underneath the PeopleMover.

Speaker 2:

Yes, and this has my attention. This is where the other pretzel was yes, yes, because I was like hold on, I think there's another place.

Speaker 1:

Yes.

Speaker 2:

So there are a lot of things here that have my attention and I'm like, ooh, I want to try this one day. So there is a queso fundido hot dog and it is all beef hot dog topped with queso fundido street corn relish and spiced tortilla strips, served with a choice of side.

Speaker 1:

So one of the YouTubers we watched tried all of these hot dogs the queso fundido hot dog. Just looked like a whole big mess.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, this would have to be with a fork.

Speaker 1:

Yes.

Speaker 2:

Yes, but just it wouldn't be something like I would crave or anything, but I wouldn't mind trying it. Then they also have the Cuban hot dog, which is an all-beef hot dog topped with diced ham, pickles, swiss fondue and Dijon a served with a choice of side. And then this is where we were talking about pretzels. So they have a cream cheese warm stuffed pretzel. It is a warm stuffed pretzel filled with sweet cream cheese, and I that had my attention.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I think this is the only place you can find that as well.

Speaker 2:

Yes, and it is $7.79. Now the queso fundido hot dog is $12.79, and the Cuban hot dog is $12.79. And then they also have sticky bubble bread.

Speaker 1:

I've never seen this before.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, and so this is sweet bread rolled in cinnamon, caramel and warm spices for $5.79. And I think our boys might like this.

Speaker 1:

I think we have to try this on our trip next month. Yeah, it's $5.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, so maybe y'all like kind of split that. And you get the pretzel and I won't be able to eat the whole thing, but the cream cheese pretzel sounds good.

Speaker 1:

All right, we're going to one more place and in my opinion, I think this may be definitely the most underrated restaurant in the magic kingdom maybe top five underrated restaurants in walt disney world. And where are we going?

Speaker 2:

we are going to adventureland, to jungle navigation, co skipper canteen skipper canteen.

Speaker 1:

Now I've been here, britney and the boys have not. But we have a dining reservation for lunch when we go next month and, if you like, the Jungle Cruise, which I do, this is an extension of the Jungle Cruise. Imagine you're going to eat but your servers are Jungle Cruise skippers.

Speaker 2:

Yeah. So I think it would be fun we hadn't gone here before as a family, just because the boys you know they're kids, they're, you know little pick your appetites. But they're starting to branch out a little more and there are some things that are a little more kid-friendly too. So I think we'll be good. But when we go I have honestly no idea what I'm going to get, because it all sounds so good.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, so the appetizers. Again, they have catchy names for them, like mess hall fried rice for an appetizer, jungle, green salad Falls, family falafel, lost and found soup or, when it goes, ida's cachapas.

Speaker 2:

I don't remember how to say that.

Speaker 1:

For entrees they have Dr Falls signature grilled steak Again Dr Falls, right yeah, from Jungle Cruise. Tastes like chicken, because it is this is what I had, and it was unlike any chicken I have had in my life it was good.

Speaker 2:

The chili soy glaze sounds really it was so good.

Speaker 1:

So it's crispy fried chicken with chili, soy glaze, jasmine rice and pickled vegetable slaw. It's 28. It was the chicken was cooked perfectly. The it was crispy fried chicken. It was really crispy, but the chicken inside was cooked perfectly. So you know, usually when you get like crispy chicken it tends to be overcooked right, yeah, this was not okay and that chili soy glaze was a little sweet, a little bit of just a hint of spice on it. So good again. This is like any.

Speaker 1:

I grill a lot of chicken yeah this is unlike any chicken I've ever had in my entire life. It was so delicious. I know I've talked about it a lot, yes, but the grilled steak is 38. I don't know if I'd get a steak here or not right but the chicken is good.

Speaker 1:

They have a curried vegetable crew stew. Hearty hard char sous pork, which is like it's just a porkried vegetable crew stew. Hearty char siu pork, which is like it's just a pork tenderloin. Served with house pickled vegetables and jasmine rice. Sustainable fish, not piranha. Quote. Unquote. Served over bok choy, lotus, root, bell peppers and shiitake mushrooms and a light ginger lemongrass broth. The baba lamb chops.

Speaker 2:

This might be what I get.

Speaker 1:

Spice-rubbed lamb chops, shermola, whatever you say, cauliflower potatoes, cipollini onions and harissa sauce, garnished with preserved lemons and herbs. And they have. Nile Nelly's Noodle Bowl. Niles and Niles of rice noodles, get it. Yes, sauteed shrimp tossed with the spicy tamarind sauce. You might like that too.

Speaker 2:

So mine is between the baba lamb chops and the Nile Nellies noodles.

Speaker 1:

So the lamb chops and the grilled steak are both $38. Those are the most expensive items on the menu and for the kids you can create their own entree. So they have Congo Connie's Coconut Curry Concoction. This is served with pineapple tofu, jasmine rice and a choice of two selections. They have Sizzling Savannah Grilled Steak. They have Junior Skip's Macaroni and Cheese and Chef Tangy's Crispy Chicken. So it's going to be just chicken titters, right.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, so the boys, one would probably get steak. The other would probably get the crispy chicken. Our oldest is considered an adult.

Speaker 1:

So for the dining plan he is able to choose off the adult menu. He'll get steak. I can tell you that right now.

Speaker 2:

Oh yeah, He'll get the Dr Falls signature grilled steak.

Speaker 1:

And they also have a beer here. If you're a beer drinker, that is. I like to get beers that are specific only for certain places in Walt Disney World, and this has a beer called the Congaloosh Spiced Excursion L. It is an African inspired deep amber L brewed exclusively for Walt Disney World. You can get it here and, I think, one other place. It's a darker beer but it does not have that dark beer flavor. It's a little bit lighter. Really enjoyed it, so I cannot wait to eat here again and I cannot wait for you and the boys to eat here because it's themed really well. It's a really fun restaurant and I think on our day that we go here, we're just doing a half a day here. We're ending on this and going to Hollywood Studios.

Speaker 2:

I think this is a great restaurant to end on and looking at the specialty cocktails, it depends so me, and drinking in the heat doesn't always go well, so it depends on how I'm feeling, but I may try the Sunset Margarita, which is a Taramana Bianco.

Speaker 1:

Tequila.

Speaker 2:

Blanco, sorry, blanco, tequila, grand Marnier and Smoked Chili, bitters, lime and Agave. Or I might do a Housemade Skipper Sangria, which is a choice of red or white wine, blended with juices, spices and fruit.

Speaker 1:

And so we're on the Disney dining plan, so we will get a drink if you want it. Yeah, it goes with that. I think this. It's not hard to get a reservation here. Let's keep it that way. Don't tell everybody it's between us.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, so I am looking forward to it. It's just going gonna be so hard. I guess you know we do like rope drop and everything that way, some of the other things we mentioned that, hey, I want to try that the next time we're there. We can, you know, like those pretzels and stuff for sure yeah, yeah and again.

Speaker 1:

Skipper canteen definitely, I think, the best restaurant in the magic kingdom that is not talked about right. Well, and the theming inside the theming is just on point, there is, if you've watched any of our reels, there is a great wall of china in the magic kingdom and it's in skipper canteen. So again, and I think it may be one of the top five underrated restaurants in all of walt disney world. It's just so delicious, so unique.

Speaker 2:

There's nothing like that in walt disney world, I don't think right and one of the skippers that worked there that was like outside when we were walking by a couple of years ago had a great like Jungle Cruise kind of joke, but she said it to someone that didn't get it.

Speaker 1:

We were walking by and she was like hi, sir, how are you, and he goes? I'm doing OK, how are you, and she goes Safari so good. And and he goes I'm doing okay, how are you, and she goes Safari's so good. And the guy just stopped and stared at her and I was like ha ha. But now those are on t-shirts.

Speaker 2:

Safari's so good.

Speaker 1:

Safari's so good.

Speaker 2:

Yeah.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I saw that last year. I thought, yeah.

Speaker 2:

Last year or the year before, but yeah, I think it was yeah, so, yeah.

Speaker 1:

So Cast members are great. There's skippers, Jungle Cruise skippers. There's a lot of great theming in the restaurant and if you're looking for a sit-down restaurant with your dining plan in the Magic Kingdom, that is not princessy or character dining. This is amazing and again, don't be thrown off by the menu. There are stuff here that kids, that you know that your kids will eat, and it's unlike anything you're going to eat while you're in Walt Disney World. It is so unique.

Speaker 2:

Yes, looking forward to it.

Speaker 1:

All right. So that brings us to Disney trivia this week. The question was what was the 50th anniversary spring roll flavor at the Spring Roll Cart in Adventureland, brittany? You know this.

Speaker 2:

Oh, yes, that pastrami that I talked about before. It was pastrami and pepper jack cheese.

Speaker 1:
