When you think about it, any product, no matter how good it is, can always get better.  And in this episode, I'll be talking about one brand, and two models of wireless headsets that are very good, but they just got better.  This is because they both received a new update.

I'm referring to the Discover Adapt 20, and Adapt 30 wireless headsets when used with RingCentral service. So, what's the news on these headsets?

1. When using RingCentral service, and a Discover Adapt 20 or 30 wireless headset, you'll now get ring detection in your headset earpiece. This means when you step away from your desk, you'll hear a quiet beep tone in the headset earpiece. This tone is to notify you that you have an incoming call.

previously you wouldn't get ring detection.

2. Ok, so you're away from your desk, and you hear this tone. Now what do you do? Well, that's where the second enhancement comes in. You now have remote call answering available. This  means once you hear that tone, you can now press the call control button on your Discover Adapt 20, or 30 wireless headset to take the call. Calls can be taken up to the distance of your wireless headset. In these two headsets that means up to 100 feet in the case of the Adapt 20, which is a Bluetooth headset, and up to 300 feet for the Adapt 30, which is a DECT headset.

This feature allows you to step away from your desk, but still know when you're receiving an incoming call, and then gives you the ability to take the call. That means your callers can more readily reach you, and you'll have fewer messages to listen to, and fewer calls to return. Everybody wins.

3. You can now mute your Discover Adapt 20, and 30 at the headset, rather than from the application at your computer. With this new update, it makes it easier to mute the microphone because you can now mute directly from  the headset, which is helpful especially if you're away from your desk.

Small feature enhancement? Maybe. But for those that use wireless headsets extensively, this is good news.

Not familiar with these headsets? Ok, here's a quick snapshot:

  • Wireless range - Adapt 20 gives you up to 100 feet, and the Adapt 30 DECT headset is rated up to 300 feet.
  • Battery life - Adapt 20 provides up to 20 hours of talk time, and the Adapt 30 up to 8 hours. These are pretty standard talk times for  Bluetooth, and  DECT headsets
  • Modularity - Both of these models support the feature of switching between wearing styles; mono  or duo. Adapt 30 comes with both headbands; mono & duo, where the Adapt 20 gives you the choice, and makes the other available as an optional accessory.
  • Noise canceling microphone is standard on both
  • Adapt 30 connects to desk  phone and computer, and Adapt 20 connects to computer and  mobile  devices.
