We live in a world rife with distractions. With so many voices seeking to pull us in every which direction, how can we know which voices to listen to, and which to disregard?
Missionary Shawn Paul, currently serving in Central America with his wife, has learned the necessity of cultivating an intimate relationship with God. He makes the reference of the precision of a flight path: pilots must follow this path perfectly. Deviating from the course even one degree can take you to a completely different city than you originally intended!
In order to walk confidently in the direction God has laid out for us, one must be familiar with the sound of His voice. This takes daily reflection--sometimes even whole seasons of isolation--to meditate on the sound of God's voice and learn how the Holy Spirit gently whispers and guides, above this noisy world. Shawn emphasizes that being a vessel for the Holy Spirit requires a degree of flow and flexibility. We must constantly be seeking the guidance and wisdom of that still small voice.
