Dr David Bade: Learning about work life integration as an Orthopaedic Surgeon.

May 08, 2022 Season 1 Episode 17

In episode 17, we hear the personal story of Dr David Bade who is, among other things, the Director of Orthopaedic Surgery at Queensland Children’s hospital and the current QLD Australian Orthopaedic Association chairman.

David shared his personal experiences of finding his tribe in Orthopaedics and his hands-on approach to leadership. David talked us through his own experiences which led to burnout, in the midst of a career that he loves and how this led to a pivot into the wellness space which is not commonly a space occupied by surgeons.

This conversation pulled at our heartstrings and is filled with honest reflections from David who has learnt that “Orthopaedic surgery is not who I am, it’s what I do” – tune in to hear about this and many other insightful musings that give us a lot of hope for the future of surgeons’ health and happiness.
