Dr Nemat Alsaba: From Saudi Arabia to the GC and all the blessings in between.

It was such a huge pleasure to sit down and talk with Dr Nemat Alsaba. Nemat is an emergency physician at Gold Coast Hospital and Health Service and Assistant Professor in Medical Education at Bond University. She is passionate about Geriatric Medicine, Interprofessional education and bringing people together.

Nemat shared with us her journey of being born in Saudi Arabia, moving to the USA and how she eventually ended up living and working on the Gold Coast, Australia.

Nemat is a proud Muslim and shared with us her experience having just taken the month off work to observe the holy month of Ramadan which is observed as a time of fasting, prayer, reflection and community. Nemat also shared her experience having three children (2 of which were born whilst she was in Medical School) and her own personal journey through her son’s diagnosis of Autism and subsequently how this has changed things for her family and given her a wonderful life perspective of gratitude and empathy.
