The other night my new son was terrified of the hot water. Judge, it's time that we put our eyes on the children. Religious guilt can't fix a broken child's heart. Love can. We've got over 20 families that want kids.
Speaker 2What town wants kids now?
Speaker 1There shouldn't be a child without a home. We can turn this whole thing around. In the end, the kids started coming With stories that just throw at your insides. We're doing something almost nobody else would.
Speaker 2We're family this time that we do this together. Chuck, what's happening with Possum Trot has the attention of the state.
Speaker 1I am beautiful, I am strong. You were a gift and you were only ever meant to be loved. Surprise Saturday with you Time parade.
Speaker 2What's love Flip, today, my boo and we stay. Hey, Hello everyone, and welcome to another Surprise Saturday episode. I'm your host, Nathan aka Nady, of course, and on today's episode it's very special because I have a special co-host with me. It's my beautiful wife, Elizabeth. Say hello, honey. Hi so I'm really excited about this one because, yes, it's with my wife. We went to go see. What did we go see, honey?
Speaker 1Sound of Hope.
Speaker 2The story of Possum Trot. It's another movie by Angel Studios. They've done movies such as Sound of Freedom, cabrini and other movies like that. They formerly had the Chosen. They no longer have the Chosen. It's a big legal thing. I'm going to have to go into it on this episode, but they come out with some amazing content.
Speaker 2So we had a little bit of a date night. We went out to go get dinner and then we went to go into it on this episode, but they come out with some amazing content. So we had a little bit of a date night. We went out to go get dinner and then we went to go see this movie. So let's get right into it. Elizabeth, what did you like about the sound of hope?
Speaker 1um, I liked that it was about a real story and they didn't leave any of the gritty details out. It was very down to earth and real life.
Speaker 2Yeah. So those of you who don't know, this is about a church in Texas that I believe in the 1990s, something like that early 90s.
Speaker 1I think this is in like 1997.
Speaker 2So yeah, late 90s they had a lot of people in their church decide to adopt, I think, 77 children, because they had 22 families step up and adopt these kids from the foster system, the kids that nobody wanted, the really hard cases and, like Elizabeth said, it did not hold back what these families had to deal with In the foster system. These are kids that come from broken homes, drug-infested homes, violence, all that kind of stuff, and to adopt these kids you're going to go through some trauma and they're dealing with trauma. I had some friends who adopted kids from Kenya, from another country, and they have been very open about the types of trauma that they had to go through because of the upbringing that these kids came from and that kind of environment. So I agree, I really liked the performances in this movie. I think the realism of it really made you invest a lot in the story. So was there anything that you didn't like about the movie?
Speaker 1Uh no.
Speaker 2Wow, she's very easy to please. I will say, kind of like with Cabrini, there were moments where it kind of was slow at parts, kind of drawn out a little bit, but other than that, I mean I agree, I think Angel Studios just keeps on bringing the hits. When it comes to content, I know they have a Bonhoeffer movie coming out this year that Elizabeth and I will probably go see that together for another date night Because we were part of the Angel Guild and when you're part of the Angel Guild you get to vote on the content that they bring out. And also as a perk I'm not trying to sell anything, but also as a perk you get two complimentary tickets to every movie they come out with. So that's how we were able to go see Sound of Hope and that's how we're going to go see Bonhoeffer.
Speaker 1So, honey, it was great. I felt like I went to church watching that movie.
Speaker 2Yeah, we definitely cried a lot.
Speaker 1Yeah, I felt like I was in church. It was amazing.
Speaker 2Yeah, it was very well done, very much a tearjerker. So if you go see it, bring some tissues, because they do a really good job at making you feel for these people that actually exist. They're real people and that's what's so cool about the story as well. So that is Sound of Hope, elizabeth. Thank you for joining me, honey, you're welcome. She's a woman of few words but I love her so much. And Katie has actually asked me multiple times because you know, elizabeth and I go see movies, not just you know this one, but we'll go see movies, but she's not always on the episodes with me. And so Katie will ask why isn't your wife with you? And now that you're here, why don't you join me on other episodes?
Speaker 1I don't know, why don't I you never ask?
Speaker 2I just thought it would be awkward for you because you're such an introvert.
Speaker 1Well, just give me some questions, I can answer questions.
Speaker 2All right, sounds good. So the next one will be with Katie, nady, elizabeth and maybe Scotty, because Scotty likes to join the episodes too, and you can listen to our next episode this Tuesday on Nadie and Katie at the movies.
