124. Three Steps to Break Up With Your Credit Cards

Do you have a relationship with credit cards that feels unhealthy right now?
In this week’s episode of Messy to Magnetic, I’m sharing the three steps to break up with your credit cards starting today.
The steps are:
1– Triage Your Situation:
Listen, sometimes your credit cards AREN’T the most important thing to focus on right now. Even when they feel like a lot. Taking the time to look at your situation as a whole and get clear on what needs to be attended to first with your money is critical.
2– Declutter and Simplify:
This may seem obvious, but most of the women that I start working with to clear credit card debt are STILL using their credit cards in random ways. There are unknown balances, unknown autopays set up, unknown expenses coming out.
3– Prepare for Obstacles:
I’m guessing you fall under one of these two camps: you have ~$0 in savings, OR you are afraid to use your savings because you have no idea how you’ll save another dollar again. And anyhow, you know you shouldn’t touch your savings until a real emergency comes up. Here’s the thing: your ability to save and maturely USE your savings is insurance from staying in debt for the rest of your life, plain and simple.
