001:Daily-ish Dish with Laura, a Druid in Ontario
Jan 28, 2022 Season 1 Episode 1
Keara and Dave

In our very first episode Keara and Dave talk about the Ancient Order of Druids in America's highly adaptable curriculum that allows members to "wildcraft" their own individual druid path of nature spirituality and inner transformation through personal experience rather than dogmatic belief.
We discuss our mentoring program and the independent sacramental church of nature spirituality; The Gnostic Celtic Church, the center of the religious dimension of our tradition.
We explore through the AODA values which include the seven core principles that honor the past, respond to the present, and, through nature-based spiritual practice, offer tools to shape the future.

The AODA podcast focuses on exploring the many aspects of modern druidry through interviewing druids from many walks of life. By hearing each other’s stories and sharing about our paths, we are able to understand and document how diverse modern druid practices are.  By sharing the stories of various AODA druids, we can all come to a deeper understanding of our living tradition, build our tradition in new ways, and explore how our values and practices allow for meaningful connection with nature.  In this episode Laura has graciously joined us to discuss her Druidry.

Laura (she/her) is a Candidate in the AODA, having formally taken up Druidry in summer 2021 after many years of identifying as a pantheist Pagan with a nature-based practice. Her Candidate explorations focus on ogham divination (Druid), tree learning + identification (Ovate), and pyrography (Bard). She lives in Ontario, where the Canadian Shield meets the Great Lakes-St. Lawrence Lowlands, and builds and celebrates her connection with her environment through hiking, camping, and canoeing the rivers and lakes in the region. She works in post-secondary education and labour organizing and, in her spare time, enjoys reading, music, crafts, and cat cuddles.
