[00:53] Dr. Rodney: Hi, and welcome to Stance for Health podcast today. Normally, one of our guests is normally one of the speakers, so you can probably guess halfway there if you guessed me, but no, it is the illustrious Karen Joanne Hope, lady Worth. All the things that are hard that make stance work so well. She is an expert, and I do mean that in the truest sense of the word. With a product that we have in the office that I think is exciting. It's called the Zerona. It's made by which company?

[01:28] Karen: Erchonia.

[01:29] Dr. Rodney: Erchonia. Okay. She knows how it works. She knows why it works, and I'm just going to ask her a few questions so that maybe if you had any questions about the application of the Zerona, you'll know more, way more, after this interview. So how does the Zerona laser technology work?

[01:50] Karen: Well, thank you for all those kind words, Dr. Rodney. On top of that, I have done a deep dive into the research.

[01:58] Dr. Rodney: Of course you have. What else would you do?

[02:01] Karen: It is a body contouring laser. Now, this is going to be somewhat mind blowing when you realize what happens, because this body contouring has gotten some bad reputation. We'll talk about that later. But what you need to know about this particular product is that it basically, wherever you shine the lasers, wherever you target the laser, it's a red light laser, powerful. It actually goes in and creates a tiny pore in the fat cells that you're targeting. And then for the next 48 hours, the excess fat drains out through your lymphatic system.

[02:47] Dr. Rodney: Okay, so it sounds like the pore is temporary then.

[02:53] Announcer: Absolutely.

[02:53] Dr. Rodney: Does it poke a hole in it and we have this leaking fat cell that dies?

[02:58] Karen: Absolutely not. In fact, you retain all of your fat cells, which is important. Fat cells have gotten a bad reputation. It's not that they're terrible, it's just that they get extra plump, especially as you age and especially in the dangerous area around your abdomen. And that's basically where we target it. A few, particularly women who have gained a lot of weight, will target the arms. And here's the good news. It has FDA approvals for both of those areas for the circumference around your middle and for the arms.

[03:40] Dr. Rodney: Okay, so I think the next logical question is we've seen a really big insurgence, or maybe it's a resurgence of a product is led, but it is photobiomodulation, but it's on a different light spectrum. Can you explain that?

[03:58] Karen: Well, the difference between led and the Erchonia laser is that, yes, there are some benefits, and we're not going to discount them. It's just that they're going at a different level. You will find that the laser, with whatever frequency it's programmed to, will go at the cell level. In this case, it's going to the fat cell level.

[04:24] Dr. Rodney: Is there an equivalency, let's say, to using the erconia laser, the Zerona, with something else that you'd have to do to get to lose the same amount of weight, like exercise, let's say.

[04:37] Karen: And when you say weight, we really don't focus on pounds. We focus on inches. We have a special way of measuring the average weight loss for the people in the FDA approval without changing diet, without changing exercise was six inches with one session per week. And so that's all over the body, because what happens then, as your body is getting rid of excess fat in those fat cells, it begins to give you a boost to your metabolism. And we all know that people's metabolisms are different. And many of the ones who have come to us have been women who, in their 40s or pre menopausal, a little bit later, that they begin to deposit the weight in their abdomen.

[05:25] Dr. Rodney: Okay, so as far as results go, you just mentioned the once a week, can somebody use it more than that?

[05:34] Karen: It is recommended that it's a 48 hours process when that little pore is open. And to your point, you said it closes up. It doesn't stay permanently fluid in that way, that you could do it twice a week if you wanted to expedite the process.

[05:53] Dr. Rodney: Okay, twice a week. So I think the numbers are somewhere between 48 hours and 72 hours as far as the residual. Is that true?

[06:01] Karen: I've heard a few referring, a few doctors that are talking about lasers, referring to a 72 hours window. The thing that's important is how is your lymphatics system? How is it working? And that is part of what we work with you for when you're post treatment, what do you need to do to get the lymphatic system going? So we put you on a vibe plate. We use a percussive with the roller, and then we teach you dry brushing. There's a lot of different things you need to do. Drink more water so that. That lymph is more fluid.

[06:39] Dr. Rodney: That's a great point here. As far as question goes, I wonder if there's people that might suffer from lymphatic related issues, let's say, or their lymphatic system named diseases that, you know, they're probably not going to get the results, for that matter, with any product.

[07:03] Karen: Absolutely. And we don't want to make claims that are far fetched. A lot depends on that person's discipline, how much they're willing to really work on that lymphatic system and that cleanse to go through, because that's how the fat gets out. It's through the sweat, your tears. Hopefully you're not crying, but as a result of the. Or maybe it's because you're watching what you eat and you also do need to watch what you eat. It's not just a free pass. I'm going to do this, and I'm still going to lose. We're not making those kind of promises. But I will say that for the individuals who have come in and have understood the process and have been willing to do the lymphatic activities for that clear drainage and have been careful to eat the right foods, what we recommend, the results have just been astounding, and they're so pleased.

[08:04] Dr. Rodney: Okay, have you had any repeat people, folks that have come back for refreshers or anything like that?

[08:09] Karen: We have. Okay.

[08:11] Dr. Rodney: How much of an investment is it to get involved with the Simrona? We talked about some of the benefits. What can they expect?

[08:21] Karen: Well, from time to time we do run specials, and I prefer to talk about that sticky subject with each person after we've done a free evaluation, that consult is absolutely free, and then we can see if they're a good candidate.

[08:38] Dr. Rodney: So is it easier for somebody just to walk in? Do they need to make an appointment? What days are you available to do the Zerona? Because I know you're in a growing chiropractic office.

[08:51] Karen: Absolutely. The best times are Thursday mornings and Fridays, and you can come if you live in the north Dallas area or Fort Worth. We're right in the middle of, I think it's 17 miles each way, 17 to Dallas and 17 miles Fort Worth. Very central location, easy to find. And first off, we can start with the conversation on the phone, and then you can come and see it. And would love to just help you. And with those, as you're getting older and you decide you want to lose that belly fat, what often happens is in order to see that move, you're going to be working out five days in the gym, cutting back, way back on eating, and people might come up to you and you succeed. People might come up to you and ask you, are you okay? Because as we get older, the weight loss shows in our face. So what I say to you, keep those fat cells in your face. We're not going to be pointing it to that and target just those areas. And I'm excited to work with you.

[10:00] Dr. Rodney: Okay. You're saying some of these things, and it just makes me think of some of these other things. What are some side benefits that you've seen or people have reported to you? That's another way of saying anecdotal rather than some of the FDA approvals. What are some things that you've heard people report?

[10:19] Karen: A couple of the two main ones have been people that were having problems in the lower back area. That pain went away, and then the other one was those that were having problems with PCOS, because you're targeting that same general area, that mitochondria was doing better, and they reported a change. And overall, the one doctor reported, and remember, this is anecdotal, this is not FDA, and every person doesn't have this.

[10:51] Dr. Rodney: And you may not get the same result.

[10:53] Karen: Right. Exactly. They had taken their cholesterol before and they took this six week sessions and afterwards, and it had gone down. And that makes sense, doesn't it? Because it's the visceral fat in your abdomen that's the most dangerous.

[11:10] Dr. Rodney: Well, and that's the thing. That, too, is that one of the things that I like to tell people I'm partnering with is that what we want to do is we want to normalize physiology. So if HDL or an LDL or BLDL or even the size of the particles is in question, the laser seems to help bring the body back into normal physiology, is that right?

[11:34] Karen: Yes. And even a shift in metabolism, which is your best friend, it is.

[11:40] Dr. Rodney: So it's working. Even though it's not targeting mitochondria, it may affect mitochondria.

[11:46] Karen: And the other part is that once the body senses that process of the fat loss in this way, it steps it up in other areas as well.

[12:00] Dr. Rodney: And what I was satisfied with is I didn't even tell them I had hip pain. That went away after my first session. I think every single time my hip has felt better.

[12:11] Karen: And we share a session. It's 20 minutes front, 20 back. We share it, and we both have had incredible results. My first time, which went into this investment, so to speak, was I lost three inches in one session. I do not say that that's the normal, but it was, for me, it was like, this really does work.

[12:34] Dr. Rodney: That's not anecdotal. That's actually what happened.

[12:36] Karen: That's what happened, yes. And even the person doing it, that does it all the time said, I've never seen these results. It probably had most to do with how we were eating at the time.

[12:47] Dr. Rodney: Bring up another point, is, if somebody's coming, how long should they expect? You answered part of the question. You said 40 minutes. But what else is going on?

[12:56] Karen: On a typical visit, the first visit is the longest because we do a lean screen to measure your bmi. We also measure and remember it's not just the one spot that you say, I want to lose inches here. And so this full measurement takes another 20 minutes, and then you'll get a thorough training on what to do for the lymphatics. Ten minutes on the vibe plate, another five minutes with the percussive. So you can count on a good hour and a half your first session. After that, probably an hour.

[13:32] Dr. Rodney: Okay. Is that what makes perhaps a visit to us unique, or is that what everybody does? Does everybody use a percussive vibe plate?

[13:43] Karen: I've heard the vibe plate is pretty much across the board, because imagine that it's a passive movement. And as you're doing that movement, that's getting the lymphatic, especially in the legs, going. But what I have not heard of is using the percussive. If you don't know what a percussive is, I'll demo it when you come talk to me. But what we have is we have it with a roller, and so we're actually rolling those areas where you want that fat to come out of those little chubby cells. And you had mentioned earlier some of the other methods of doing this, that actually, you get rid of the fat cells, but you don't want to do that because your body goes, like, into starvation mode and brings them back, plus more.

[14:27] Dr. Rodney: Well, and then sometimes it deposits fat in places you don't want it.

[14:30] Karen: That's been the reality for some lawsuits against the one, the freezing of the fat cells. Plus there's bruising, so you won't have any bruising. No time off, and it doesn't hurt, not one bit. It's not hot. It is a cold.

[14:45] Dr. Rodney: Laser. Cold laser. Yeah.

[14:47] Karen: Amazing.

[14:48] Dr. Rodney: Is there anything that you wanted to say that I haven't asked you about today?

[14:55] Karen: I just want to speak to someone that's really discouraged because no matter what you do, you can't get rid of those inches around your waist or hips or maybe your arms if you've lost a lot of weight, but those arms stayed the same. I want to encourage you that this is a healthy way to do what would take months and maybe years and you're so discouraged with give this a try, or at least talk to me. I take each case very individually, and if I don't think it's the right thing for you, I'll tell you up front. This is more about your health. This is not vanity. You deserve to be healthy and live a long, fruitful life so you can do what only you can do.
