Compassion
Jul 08, 2024 Episode 93

Doing something without knowing why you’re doing it can easily lead to burnout and giving up. Even good things can become burdensome if we don’t have the “why” settled in our hearts. In looking to Jesus as our model for a Sabbath lifestyle, we see that His “why” was deeply rooted in compassion. It began even before Jesus was born. The famous verse, John 3:16, says, “For God so loved…that He gave.” Empathy without action is pity. Yet many of us feel inadequate or fail to see people with compassion, to begin with. What if the action of compassion began by simply asking the Father what He is doing in this situation? Imagine what God can do with the little that we have if we simply offer it to Him. That’s how compassion leads to the unhurried lifestyle of Sabbath.
