Freedom Fellowship

The invitation to God’s rest is simple. Jesus said, “Come to me.” A relationship with our God and Savior is the priority above all else. Despite that simple invitation, we fail to experience a lifestyle of rest because we run into roadblocks. This is nothing new. The Israelites experienced the same thing after they left Egypt. They were promised a homeland, yet they could not enter because they complained, looked backward toward Egypt, the land of their enslavement, and did not have the faith to believe in God’s promises despite the challenges they saw in the promised land.

What roadblock are you experiencing today? Perhaps the more important question to answer is, “Why.” Why do we fail to come to Jesus with our questions, doubts, struggles, insecurities, and more? Perhaps it’s because, in some way, we feel Jesus can’t relate to the circumstances we’re going through. That’s the encouragement that comes immediately after the warnings in Hebrews 4. Jesus is a “Great High Priest” Who can sympathize with our weaknesses. He’s the most relatable human being, which should encourage us to run to Him in every situation.
