Talk of independence circulates among the southern troops … a shared belief solidifies - this march north will solidify Southern independence. 

Meanwhile, Northern hopes to preserve the union remain dangerously low and leadership of the army of the Potomac changes just THREE days before one of the largest and most consequential battle in American history.
