City of Welland

We've mentioned it before, and it's a fact worth repeating: municipal government is the level of government that most affects a person's daily life. So, we must take advantage of an opportunity to highlight something that supports local government. The Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO) conference, which took place a few weeks ago, significantly impacts communities across the province.

But let's talk about our community.

The networking, conversations, and actionable items that resulted from this year's event will have long-lasting effects on our city. Mayor Frank Campion, Welland councillors, and senior staff attended the conference to do more than exchange greetings and pose for pictures. They met with ministers, shared Welland's evolving story, and advocated for necessary services. They were there for those who currently call Welland home and the many who will one day make their home here.

With exceptional growth on the horizon, strong mayor powers coming soon, and an acute awareness of the urgency of the ongoing housing crisis, Welland had a strong presence at this annual conference.

Today, Mayor Campion reflects on what took place and what lies ahead for our city.

Whether it's AMO or any other conference, Welland delegates are always speaking up and making their voices heard on our behalf.
