Get More Done by Hiring a Virtual Assistant
Running a business takes a lot of work. There’s marketing, admin, bookkeeping, oh and also working with clients and making money!
When first starting out money can be tight so doing everything yourself is a smart economical decision. But there comes a time when you just can’t physically or emotionally do it all. I mean, you need a break sometimes damn it!
If you’re struggling with staying on top of your business tasks, listen up! There is a solution! What is it? It’s hiring a Virtual Assistant!
Welcome to the Desire to Done podcast! I’m your host Billie Gardner. In today’s episode, I’m covering why you need to hire a Virtual Assistant to help you with your business. So if you’re a business owner trying to figure out how to find more time to do more, this episode is for you!

So, what is a Virtual Assistant? A Virtual Assistant also referred to as a VA, is someone who works remotely to help you with your business tasks. Whatever you need done, there is likely a VA out there who can help you.
A VA is not an employee. They are freelancers who run their own businesses. This means hiring a VA is a more economical choice than hiring an employee. You don’t need a physical office space or supplies, you don’t need to pay employee benefits, you can hire a VA for as many hours as you need, and you’re not limited to the local hiring pool.
So let’s go over WHY you need to hire a VA.
1) You have gifts, and you need to use them.
You are the head of your company, and your focus should be your vision and steering your business in the right direction, not on formatting and scheduling newsletters. You need to focus on your zone of genius and let someone else help you while concentrating on theirs.
2) Sure, you can do everything… but you shouldn’t!
DIY-ing your business to save money is perfectly fine when you’re first starting out. There comes a time when you need to stop buying how-to courses, however, and doing everything yourself. You can’t be an expert at everything. It’s time to hire an expert to help you run your biz.
3) There are people out there who are quicker and (gasp!) better at things than you!
It’s hard to imagine having someone else do the things we do because we feel we do them better than anyone else. But that’s not always the case! For example, I can write and format blog posts, but my VA is an excellent writer and much quicker. I can also make spreadsheets, but my other VA is a brilliant spreadsheet maker and makes better ones than I could ever imagine!
4) You’ll get to focus on the things you love to do.
It’s so nice not having to worry about Instagram and remembering to post there. That’s not my gift! My gift is creating products that help introverts become VAs. What are you focusing on that you shouldn’t be?
5) Those tasks you keep putting off will finally get done!
Do you have testimonials from clients or customers that you still need to add to your website? Speaking of your website, are there any glitchy things going on there you’ve been meaning to fix? Hiring a VA means those things will actually get done!
6) You’ll get the support you need to move projects forward.
When you hire the right VA, you’ll have someone who supports you and your business growth. They’ll gladly take on projects, offer new ideas, and brainstorm with you.
For instance, I wanted to create a free service that connects business owners with potential VAs but didn't have the time or energy to manage this project myself. Luckily, my VA encouraged me to move forward with the idea and even offered to take on the project herself.
Now it's set up so that when a VA job request comes in, she automatically responds to it, puts the job opp in my VA membership forum, and does the important follow-up tasks afterward. I don’t have to do a thing! She even designed the website page!
This one project has added lots of value to my membership, and I simply could not have done it without my VA.
7) Your business will grow...and make more money.
Hiring a VA is an investment that pays off. You can finally stop being the bottleneck of your business and allow it to grow, grow, and grow! Now you’ll have time for another client, to create that ecourse you’ve wanted to make or map out a strategy (and actually implement it) for exponential growth.
8) You might actually have time for a life!
Hiring help means you can start backing away from your business a little and start enjoying life again! I get it! You love your business! I do too! But working ALL.THE.TIME is not healthy! As entrepreneurs, we need to strive for better balance in our lives!
Keep in mind, if you’re not doing your social media and you hire someone to do it, you’re not getting any time back (though you could see some business growth!).
On the other hand, if you hire someone to take over multiple tasks that you regularly do, you should see a nice shift in more time opening up for you.
9) A VA can help if there’s an emergency.
You never know what life will throw at you. If you have a VA, you might be able to call upon them to help keep things running for a while or help out when you can’t be as productive as usual.
