Revolver Reads: Book Club Russian Roulette
A book club podcast where four friends (Nav, Rebecca, and Vanessa) let the wheel of doom choose a book that may enlighten them or bring their minds further into the depths of hell. Once a month six books are put into the wheel: five are supposedly "good" while the sixth is the notoriously "bad" (the bullet in the chamber, so to speak). Once the wheel of doom has spoken the podcasters have a month to read the book independently and they come together again to discuss their findings, or lack thereof. Listeners are welcome to join as at the end of each episode next month's book is chosen and announced!

Episode 35: But You Know That a King is Only a Man - Open Water by Caleb Azumah Nelson
While some of you are having your 🫧⋆。˚💚 brat summer 💚˚。⋆🫧, the wheel of doom had a similar yet very, very different kind of passionate, UK summer in mind.
The lines we were bumpin' this July were “It’s one thing to be looked at, and another to be seen", “You are more than the sum of your traumas”, and “What is better than believing you are heading towards love?”. Excuse us, we're just going to need a moment.
Caleb Azumah Nelson's Open Water took our breath away as page after page he expertly crafted a story meant to fill you with hope despite the devastation and isolation baked into the setting of this novel.
So please, grab your bathing suits let's dip our toes into this stunning read.
