“Therefore you now have sorrow, but I will see you again, and your heart will rejoice, and your joy no one will take from you.” That’s John 16:22 NKJV
Jesus was meeting with His disciples, the apostles, and He knew what was happening and what was about to take place. He wanted them to know that they were going to have sorrow, because He was going to depart from them. But they were also going to have rejoicing and lots of joy. And no one would be able to take that from them after the fact. He knew that He was going to die for their sins, for your sins, for my sins. He was going to be buried, and He was going to rise again. But only God and Jesus knew that. So He was telling them that they were going to have joy later. Rejoicing was the promise that was going to come. And the words “I will see you again and your heart will rejoice” were enough to excite those people – those who knew that there was sorrow now but joy coming in the morning. I hope that you understand that. God loves you too. He wants to provide for you the gift of God eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord. Will you receive God’s gift through His Son the Lord Jesus by believing on Him?
