Space Café Radio – ISU SSP2022 Special in Oeiras, Portugal - with Dr. James (Jim) Green
In this Space Café Radio – SpaceWatch.Global Event coordinator and Space Café Young Global Talents Host Chiara Moenter spoke with Dr. James (Jim) Green, scientist and senior advisor in the Office of the Chief Scientist at NASA, in the first week of the Space Studies Program (SSP22) of the International Space University (ISU).
The SSP is a unique and intense two-month professional development course for postgraduate students and professionals of all disciplines. The programme covers the principal space-related fields, such as policy and law, business and management and humanities to life sciences, engineering, physical sciences, and space applications. Each year the SSP is held in a different location and this year the SSP is held in Oeiras, Portugal with the host institutions being Portugal Space and Técnico Lisboa.
In this episode, James Green talks with us about what it is like to be the chief scientist at NASA, the project he is most proud of in his career, his goal with the SSP22, how to communicate space and science – and the role that movies can play with this, and most significantly the importance of gravity assist!
