hey everyone. Welcome back to the uncommon freedom show. Beck and kev in the saddle again.
Speaker 2:Becca welcome thank you, kevin.
Speaker 1:It's nice to be here in my own home you missed out on the awesome podcast with captain spence and erica.
Speaker 2:That was fun I was downstairs packing and keeping everyone from making too much noise, but I did listen to it and I thought it was outstanding.
Speaker 1:It was pretty cool. The background was so epic that it almost looked like it was a recording like a green screen recording in the background.
Speaker 2:It was pretty awesome. I'm so grateful for that beautiful trip.
Speaker 1:Yeah, well, we are here. We are recording episode number 98. So we are two away from 100. Are two away from 100 and we're actually excited because we are going to unveil a really cool event that you and I are super excited to host in about five weeks, and we're also going to just talk about kind of where we're at with this podcast and kind of take it from there. So okay.
Speaker 2:So we are very excited to host an in-person lifestyle design workshop called Thrive in 25. And it's really to help you create a life of meaningful impact in 2025 through strategic goal setting in all key areas of life. It's going to take place December 7th, which is a Saturday, from 9 to 12. And then for the VIP purchasers, there's 9 to 12 am.
Speaker 1:Am. Yeah, well, 9 am, 9 am yes.
Speaker 2:We should always clarify that we don't mean 9 pm to midnight, we mean 9 am.
Speaker 1:And that's Arizona time.
Speaker 2:Yes, it is At our amazing church, Compassion Church in Gilbert. It's for ages 13 and up. So again, but it is adults only, no childcare provided. And then we have a VIP lunch and Q&A from 1230 to two. If you would like to add that ticket on, we're going to have a boxed lunch and some time with a smaller group to just really go through and answer questions after we've gone through the lifestyle design process. So we're really excited.
Speaker 1:Yeah, so the individual ticket is a mere $99 per person for individual. But if you're going to attend with your spouse, we're giving a discount for couples, knocking that price down to $179. And then the VIP lunch and Q&A session is a $50 add-on per person. So if you're going to attend as an individual, $149. As a couple it's going to end up being 279.
Speaker 1:I was talking to my good buddy, john, today, and he lives in Ohio when I mentioned this to him. He's like oh man, he's like I'm going to see if my wife and I can come out. When I told him the price I was you know he's, he's a good friend I was like I'll see if I can, you know, get you a discount. And I was happy. We agree, we think you're going to get a tremendous amount of value for it. Yes, but real quick. We want to give you the link where you can go to register. And also we do have a discount code for our listeners Freedom10, f-r-e-e-d-o-m-1-0 gets our listeners 10% off and you can register by going to wwwbitly slash, thrive in 25. So basically, it's a bitly slash, thrive in 25.
Speaker 1:We are trying to get a better link for all of you, but didn't have time before recording this podcast, so we will put the hyperlink in the show notes, but it's actually very easy to find it.
Speaker 1:I've already tested it out. And the other thing is every guest gets a copy included with the registration as a copy of my book, in addition to a beautiful redesigned workbook version of our yearly reflection worksheet. So we've been using a paper version and our amazing assistant, teresa, realized we really need to create more of a workbook out of this, because if you apply the workbook the way that it's intended, you're going to take it every, at least every three months with your spouse when you get away, whether it's for a date or an actual, you know, getaway retreat, like we call it. And the workbook is really going to allow you to rework things, because that's one of the things that we've learned is we kind of sometimes we have to rework some of our goals and our worksheet didn't have a ton of space for it. So the workbook is designed to give people a little more space, for it to be a fluid map, for you to thrive every single year.
Speaker 1:And everyone will get their own individual workbook, because you'll want to do it separately, but then share it with your spouse, if you're married, or significant other, so that you can go through the process of goal setting and holding each other accountable and really dreaming together and if you're single like, what you want to do is either find a couple that you're friends with that can help hold you accountable and you can have conversation with, or find another single friend that you can also have this discussion with, because we know that the accountability piece and the discussion piece is really very powerful in this.
Speaker 2:Exactly so. We were doing this work, sheeter. We had done it a few years ago, and one of your goals for this particular year was to start a podcast, launch my podcast. And here it was December 31st and you hadn't done it yet, and it was one of those things where I guess you could have just decided to start it in the new year, but instead you woke up, sometime before midnight I believe, and you came down and you pushed record, yeah, and you did your first rough but raw version of the Uncommon Freedom show, which is now Uncommon Freedom with Beck and Kev.
Speaker 1:Yeah, and of the uncommon freedom show, which is now uncommon freedom with beck and kev yeah, and basically that first episode.
Speaker 1:I think it's lost essentially because we changed formats and uh, it got uh the, the master reel, um disappeared, but that was kind of an introduction into what uncommon freedom is. And really, over the last you know 98, we've done interviews with some amazing people, some just, you know, basically normal Joe type people with amazing stories. I remember, you know, my episode interview with Erica, who is our you know dear friend, an amazing story about, you know, crossing the border illegally and really her journey to uncommon freedom and becoming an American citizen. Of course we've had some amazing high-profile guests on, like John Bevere, john Maxwell, and of course we switched formats to now I get to gaze into your lovely face most episodes, which is actually the highlight of the podcast.
Speaker 2:That was definitely an upgrade for the podcast.
Speaker 1:Absolutely Eye candy, for sure.
Speaker 2:Just kidding, but no, it's been wonderful to do it together. We can definitely. We have to tell you honestly, some days we just aren't in the mood and we do it anyway, but we've really had fun. Our goal all along was to provide, is to provide value. So we are celebrating almost a hundred episodes and we will be very excited to have that come out, but what we are going to do is actually take a pause, and so you know we're going to give you some value on this podcast in particular, as well as make sure you understand the value of the upcoming workshop. But after this, we're just going to take a short pause, and it's really a well-designed break, because we know that in our pursuit of uncommon freedom, there are ebbs and flows in life and we just have to be aware of that, conscientious. And we're heading into the holidays, and so we know that we need some time for rest and renewal, and we've got some projects that we're working on right now that we want to turn our attention to.
Speaker 1:Yeah, so hopefully we'll hit 100 before the end of the year. It might not be until January, but it's been very interesting, as we kind of learn algorithms and promotion and things like that, and sometimes the reality is this is a labor of love and I'll just tell you if you're listening and you find value. If you listen to any podcast and you find value, let me encourage you subscribe to the podcast, um, give them a five-star review, whether it's ours or another one, and if you can send a message especially if you know the podcaster, send a message to let them know. Because you know, when we were making this decision, it was like it was honestly, it was just like man, are we, is anyone getting value from this?
Speaker 1:And I got a I can't remember if it was a text message or I think it was a text message from one of my clients and she shared who actually used to be one of my teachers in high school and she shared how my sugar episode just was absolutely impacted her. And then we were traveling and had a conversation with someone else who's, like you know, that one been a game changer for me. I've sent it to a bunch of people, um, but that encouragement really keeps us motivated because you know, as of right now, we're not making money from this Um and we're actually investing a fair amount of time and finances. So really want to encourage you. That encouragement for people who are podcasting it's going to keep them motivated to keep it going.
Speaker 2:And we will take also a review. So if you do a five-star review, we would also love it if you would write a review, because it just helps us feel like we are providing that value and it helps us to show up for more people.
Speaker 3:Uncommon Freedom is a game changer, not only for the focused leader but also for the rudderless sojourner seeking direction. When Kevin talks, I listen, I lean in and always leave a better man. As the wisdom of Proverbs 3.13 states, happy is the man who finds wisdom and the man who gains understanding. I want to warn you in advance to prepare your spirit for a heart and mind shift as you read this book. I have learned that conviction comes when the heart is open to change. As I read this book, I was moved on several occasions to evaluate my personal life and make course corrections. And this isn't just a book, it's a manual for creating godly leaders who we desperately need today and especially as our children walk the earth in, whatever it looks like 10, 20, 30 years from now. Who knows that? We need leaders who embody these things? Because not only do we need people who are healthy and wealthy and have the right heart, but we need people who know where the spirit of the Lord is. There is freedom.
Speaker 2:Okay, with the remaining amount of time we have, we wanted to talk through some of the value that we're going to bring at the workshop, and you kind of had an epiphany when you heard something recently shared, so let's go with that.
Speaker 1:Yeah. So I was recently listening to a podcast and they were talking specifically about wealth and the financial area, and this gentleman defined wealth as the absence of stress in your finances. I absolutely loved that definition because a lot of times I think Americans think you're wealthy if you make six figures per year, or maybe seven figures per year.
Speaker 1:You're wealthy if you have a net worth of a million dollars, or maybe you know a hundred million, I don't know. It's very subjective and it's very subjective, but this definition of wealth being an absence of stress, absolutely loved it. And it's very subjective, but this definition of wealth being an absence of stress, absolutely loved it. And because the reality is there are some people who, at $30,000 and no debt, they actually feel very wealthy. They don't have stress because they've actually, you know, they live in a paid for home, they drive a paid for car, you know, maybe, and granted home, they drive a paid for car and, realistically, $30,000 in today's economy probably is a little bit of a stretch, but the point is, maybe it's $50,000 or $60,000.
Speaker 2:But they have what they need. They have what they need and not a deep desire for more.
Speaker 1:And they're not driven by materialism, they're not worried about keeping up with the Joneses. And then the flip side. There are going to be some people, um, that to be wealthy in this definition, they're going to need to make, you know, maybe seven figures, maybe eight figures, um and um. And yet there's also going to be some people who make seven, eight, nine figures and they're not going to be wealthy, right, because they're materialistic. They're just driven by having things. They don't know when to say enough is enough.
Speaker 1:They're not spending any time with their family or they're not good stewards of the money they make, yes, and they're so dang leveraged that, even though they're making seven figures, that that isn't enough they're still stressed out, and so I just love that definition. What I realize is, if you take essentially the absence of stress in your life, that's what this workshop is going to be about, because we talk about three habits, seven disciplines. We talk about your physical health, your marriage, your parenting, your finances. This workshop, and our yearly reflection sheet, really is designed to help people build wealth in every area of their lives.
Speaker 2:Absolutely, and so what we're not saying is that in one year you can turn around all areas of your life. That would be an over-promise and under-deliver, even though we're not responsible for how you take action on the things that you write down and process. But what we are saying is there's a chance for you to stop drifting downstream and really turn around and start rowing the other direction and seeing measurable changes. You know that 1% improvement over time can really become something powerful, and I think that one of the things that I was discussing on a different podcast today.
Speaker 2:So when we were kind of looking at the idea of uncommon freedom, especially for your book, it was a rating system almost in our minds as you were creating that idea, and it was basically like there's average, there's below average, and then what we would call above average is uncommon freedom, and for many people you, many people, are living below average, basically in their thinking, in their finances, in their relationships, in their physical health. And when you are below average, you really cannot create out of survival, you can't create out of desperation. So to be able to create and dream and design a life, you have to at least get to neutral and then from neutral, you can start to build from there. So what we're saying, though, is this lifestyle design workshop will help you go from where you are and take steps in the direction of where you want to be, and it will be incremental and it'll be strategic, and it'll be in multiple areas of your life, if you're willing to go there and if you're motivated to do the work.
Speaker 1:Yeah, that's great. So, basically, you know, we want to give you a kind of a couple ideas of who this is for, and really it's for anyone who isn't satisfied with where they're at right now, anyone who really wants to build wealth in every area of their life, but, you know, anyone who's seeking to create a balanced and intentional family life in 2025.
Speaker 2:That's right. Or parents who want to deepen their relationships with their spouse and children while setting meaningful goals.
Speaker 1:Yep. Anyone looking to strengthen their spiritual, relational and physical well-being as a family, that's a good one.
Speaker 2:Yep and people committed to improving communication and connection within their relationships.
Speaker 1:Also anyone eager to build healthier habits that benefit both themselves and their loved ones.
Speaker 2:How about someone focused on achieving financial freedom and aligning their finances with family goals?
Speaker 1:Absolutely Love that one. Also, individuals ready to design a life of purpose with a focus on personal growth and relational fulfillment.
Speaker 2:Fulfillment's a big one, okay. And finally, families who want practical tools for creating harmony and thriving together in all areas of life.
Speaker 1:And we're definitely not going to be sharing from our position of perfection, because we're far from it. We have definitely learned a lot of things. We've made a lot of pivots, we've made a lot of changes through the years, but we've also learned a lot from our mistakes and we're going to share from the wisdom that we've absorbed from many amazing people that we've had mentor us through the years, the things that we've learned, and a lot of it's from the mistakes that we've made.
Speaker 2:Absolutely.
Speaker 2:One of our core values is we believe in stewardship, and so for us, that's really where the lifestyle design principle comes from is because if we just go through life without any intention, then we're honestly wasting the time, talent and treasure that God has given each of us, and we don't want each year to go by and us to not take account of it, not take purposeful steps to make an impact, improve ourselves, improve our community, improve our relationships, improve our finances and improve our physical health.
Speaker 2:So again, far from perfect, but definitely in process, and this process we're going to take you through is what we go through every year. We're getting better at it, it's getting easier, it's more fun, and so we hope you'll join us because we think you're going to have an amazing experience. So if you live out of state, if you're in driving distance, come. If you're going to fly in, come. Just contact us and we'll connect with you on any other details you need help with. But we are really excited to do this one-day workshop. We believe we will provide great value for you. You will leave changed and you'll leave with tools and resources and next steps for how to really create a life of impact and help yourself thrive in 25.
Speaker 1:Yeah, and you mentioned stewardship. We're in the last few days before the election and help yourself thrive in 25. Yeah, and you mentioned stewardship. We're in the last few days before the election, so we want to encourage everyone vote. I was shocked.
Speaker 1:I was having a text message conversation with a friend and he's in his 30s and just find out this is the first election that he's ever voted in and I was thrilled to hear that he was voting and honestly, I was actually convicted that. I hear that he was voting and honestly, I was actually convicted that I always assumed he was voting and he actually used to live in Arizona and obviously we know four years ago was a very contentious election and it was just a reminder to me that it's important for not only for us to vote but to have conversations with those. Don't assume that anyone around you is going to vote.
Speaker 1:And it always blows my mind when people choose to sit on the sidelines and then they, you know, they complain, and I'm not saying that my friend was doing this, but it was just someone who I'd always I just assumed he was voting and learned that, you know, this was his first election. So I just really want to encourage all of you vote, vote, vote. Please don't sit on the sidelines. It's you know, becca, and I believe it's very clear in scripture we are supposed to have stewardship over every area of our lives. So, hey, friends, you can follow us on Instagram and Becca on Facebook.
Speaker 1:If actually, a quick appeal, I can't remember if I've made this yet, but I got lost access to my original Instagram account, which automatically suspended me from Facebook. So, if any of you have connections, I have one last tip that was sent to me that I haven't tried yet, but my original Instagram account is now deleted. So because of that, I have no way to appeal my Facebook suspension. So, if anyone can help out, I'm appealing because so far, my attempts at creating a new account have failed.
