#74: From Midlife Crisis to Midlife Reinvention: It’s Not Too Late To Start Something New with Christine Catoggio
Nov 08, 2023 Season 1 Episode 74
Sarah Haas

Episode Summary:

Women in midlife are often navigating a sea of personal change. Along with the physical changes that come with aging and menopause, many of us are experiencing divorce, retirement, career shifts, empty nests, or caring for aging parents.

This period in our lives can come with feelings of disappointment and self-doubt when we feel we haven’t  accomplished “enough.” And we have a tendency to compare ourselves to others.

My guest on this episode, Christine Cataggio, Midlife Redesign Mentor, joins me to highlight the importance of accepting where you are in life and recognizing your unique gifts and talents.

Although midlife transformations can be challenging, they can also be a catalyst for significant personal growth, ushering in useful insight, and promoting resilience and self-discovery.

Christine encourages us to focus on our own path instead of comparing ourselves to others. She also emphasizes the need for self-worth, self-acceptance, AND self-care.

In this episode, we discuss:

  • Recognizing the hurdles faced by women during midlife
  • Cultivating resilience
  • Positive self-talk
  • Establishing morning routines and rituals

.

“In midlife, we often neglect ourselves as we focus on others. We need to take care of ourselves so that we can take care of others. Find little ways to incorporate self-care into your daily routine, whether it's taking a breathing exercise or finding moments of quiet.” - Christine Catoggio

Highlights:

02:38 - What is a midlife redesign mentor?

05:35 - The importance of self-care

12:40 - Taking control and managing reactions
