In this episode, we dive into two wildly different monster tales from the mid-2000s. Godzilla: Final Wars (2004) is a celebration of the franchise’s 50th anniversary—an explosive, globe-trotting, over-the-top brawl that throws Godzilla against nearly every kaiju in his rogues’ gallery, from Gigan to an American “Zilla.” Fast, chaotic, and full of fan service, it’s the ultimate sendoff to the Millennium era. Meanwhile, Kong: King of Atlantis (2005) continues the animated adventures of the cloned Kong as he journeys beneath the ocean to stop an ancient threat in a world of high-tech magic and monsters.
