Kristen Bahls:

I'm Kristen Bahls and you're listening to the Overdressed Teachers podcast, and today's episode is part two of not all, but some of the books that are coming out in 2024. But before I get to that, I did have a story for you today, so it kind of requires a little bit of backstory. So I'm going to go into that part first. Basically, whenever I started teaching, I was I don't know like 22, 23-ish, somewhere in that range. I don't even remember anymore. But basically what would happen is that I really could not participate in jean days because the few times I did wear jeans, I would be helping someone at their computer and, like a student aid would come in the room to give me like a piece of paper or something, and they were just looking around and they could not find me. I could tell by the look on their face, or even my students couldn't find me. Like they would stand up and look around and they would go where is Miss B? And then I was like two spaces over, like helping someone else. I'm like I'm literally right here. So anyway, they couldn't find me.

Kristen Bahls:

I was always getting mistaken for a student, it was very frustrating. I am pretty short. I think that all ultimately like had a lot to do with it. But my friend, who's tall, also got mistaken for a student. A lot. We were both on the younger side. So anyway, all that to say. You know, everyone says it's great, you want to look young, all that jazz. Yeah, yeah, yeah, but I still got it. Well, actually, even at graduation yeah, at graduation, my first year, this one kid asked me why I was wearing a black gown and the teachers wear black gowns, and he, honestly, was so confused at first until I said, oh yeah, I'm a teacher, and he was just like, oh, awkward.

Kristen Bahls:

So anyway, I'm always getting mistaken for a student. It wasn't anything new. Even whenever I moved up to my admin job, I thought, finally, I will not get mistaken for a student. And lo and behold, I'm like walking around at lunch one day trying to go to the classroom I need to go in, and then one of the teachers is like hey, you can't go anywhere during lunch in the hallways or something like that. And I turn around and at first I really thought she was talking to someone else and then I realized that she was talking to me and I was like in business casual, like full admin attire with my badge on, and so I hold up my badge and I'm like hey, I'm, I'm an admin, and they apologized so many times.

Kristen Bahls:

But all that to say it's just constantly getting mistaken for a student is really frustrating, to be honest, and I'm not trying to complain, but, like I said, it might be my height, I don't know, I don't. I don't think I look like a student, I don't. Yeah, I, I don't, but apparently other people do. And then now I mentor at the high school once a week. So I go and I volunteer, and whenever I walked in the doors it could have been because I had like a huge visitor pass sticker on my shirt, but I'm going to pretend that it's because now I look more mature, because I walked in and one of the boys held the door open before me and he said thank you, ma'am. I got called ma'am. I don't think anyone's ever excited to get called ma'am, but I am, because I am not mistaken for a student anymore. I guess I finally look old enough. I'm closer to 30 than I am to 20. And finally, finally, finally, I'm not getting mistaken for a high school student. So I would count that as a win. And I was wearing jeans. All that to say I was also wearing jeans and a sweater. So there you go, that is my accomplishment of the week. It sounds really silly, but when you're always mistaken for a student it actually gets annoying. And then everyone you know you can't ever like complain or say anything about it because they're like, oh my gosh, I wish I looked young enough to get mistaken for a student. And you'll. You'll get to the point where you don't and then you'll wish that you were and I'm like no, I don't, I don't wish that I was mistaken for a high school student when I'm not. I don't wish that. I'm okay with looking more my age. Hopefully, like I said, it wasn't the visitors pass and I'm just excited for no apparent reason. Who knows? But that is my random story of the week.

Kristen Bahls:

Now I actually need to get into what we were talking about because this is going to be a long episode. Get ready. I already said that there were nine pages of outline before whenever I was researching and again, these are not covering all the books that are coming out in 2024. This is just some of them, and mainly in the mystery thriller category, in the romance category. I already went through mystery thrillers last time, got through a lot of romances and, honestly, this entire episode is all romance books that are coming out in 2024, which is just crazy. But I don't know. All the romance authors just said we're gonna have a book in 2024. Also, I think all of their publishers, you know, like once, once you reach a certain caliber as an author, they just expect you to constantly be churning out books. So I think they already had contracts and stuff that they kind of had to write books in 2024. But I'm just gonna pretend that it's because they just wanted to give us some new books. So bad. But that's why all of these are going to be romance.

Kristen Bahls:

And Just an FYI, in the show notes you can click on any of them and read their Instagram captions. Most of these are from Instagram or from Goodreads articles and that I'm getting the plot synopsis, synopsis, multiple synopsizes on, yeah, on Instagram or Goodreads. So if you want to go and read the original, always click down in the show notes. Those are there. I've PG'd them up a little bit because you know there are just certain things I don't really want to say on the podcast and because it's my podcast, I don't have to. So you'll notice some of them are PG'd up just a little bit so that way I can actually talk about them on the podcast. But if you want to see the original, you could always click through. They'll be linked in the show notes.

Kristen Bahls:

So all that to say is did you actually think that I was done? No, because of all the romance novels that are coming in and giving sneak peeks and again, romance they have really big fan bases. They are more likely to talk to you over DM, on Instagram, like your posts, share your stuff, all that stuff about their books, and so, anyway, they kind of have like these little fan clubs and so they're giving their fans more of a sneak peek. So, compared to mystery and thriller novels and a lot of the other genres that I didn't have as much to say. The authors have really pretty much done all the work for me and so there's going to be a lot. So if it seems lengthy for each book, that's just because they gave me a lot to work with. So I'm gonna be able to really give you some actual sneak peeks thanks to social media.

Kristen Bahls:

But this is part two. And again, these authors they are a little bit more popular mainstream authors. Let me know if you want me to do more like indie, smaller authors. I tried to give you a mix and not all the authors are those I like or read books from, but some are. So I'll just kind of tell you my personal preferences. But again, if that doesn't match yours, you read what you want to read. You enjoy what you want to enjoy, and I'm just telling you kind of what's coming out so you know what to be on the lookout for. And I just gathered everything up for you so that way you don't have to go hunt around on Instagram like I did.

Kristen Bahls:

So go back to the first episode if you want to start from the beginning and listen to that in sequential order, but if not, you can just pick up here and I'm just gonna start a new book. So you know, it doesn't even matter. And I didn't even touch the fantasy genre because there are so many fantasy books coming out and I just don't gravitate towards fantasy. I mean, I've read. I've read some books that are in the fantasy genre, but that is not my typical genre, so I didn't feel like I could comment on those as well as I can on mystery, thrillers or the romance books I've been picking up lately. So, anyway, that's kind of why I'm getting there. S o, first up, I don't have a release date on this one, but Emily Henry is coming out with Funny Story, before I get into her plot synopsis on her book.

Kristen Bahls:

Don't hate me, but I may or may not have DNF'd, The Happy Place. I could not finish it. It was so boring. Yeah, I don't. Yeah, I understand that it's a really, really popular book. I found it super boring. I don't know. I think I probably got like 30 pages in and I purchased a paperback copy and I just put it in my like Half-Price book stack. I couldn't, yeah, I couldn't handle. It wasn't my thing. I think her writing just didn't match what I was expecting. All that to say it's a super popular book. A lot of people love her writing. If you love her writing, that's great. But yeah, I did not finish The DNF'd it. I . Yeah, didn't, didn't love it. I'm sure if I would have kept reading I would have ended up liking it. But her new book is called Funny Story and here is, via Goodreads, the plot synopsis.

Kristen Bahls:

"Daphne always loved the way her fiancee Peter told their story. How they met on a blistery day, fell in love over an errant hat and moved back to his lakeside hometown to begin their life together. He was really good at telling it, right up until the moment he realized he was actually in love with his childhood best friend, Petra, which is how Daphne begins her story. Stranded in a beautiful waning bay in beautiful waning bay, Michigan, without friends or family, but with the dream job as a children's librarian that barely pays the bills, and proposing to be roommates with the only person who could possibly understand her predicament, Petra's ex Miles Novak. No wack, sorry. Scruffy and chaotic penchant for taking solace in, taking solace in the sounds of heartbreak, love ballads. Miles is exactly the opposite of practical, buttoned up Daphne, whose coworkers know so little about her that they have a running bet that she's either FBI or in witness protection. The roommates mainly avoid one another until one day, while drowning their sorrows, they form a tenuous friendship and a plan. If said plan also involves posting deliberately misleading photos of their summer adventures together, well, who could blame them? But it's all just for show, of course. No way. Daphne would actually start her new chapter by falling in love with her ex fiance's new ex. Right? Okay, wow, coming out of the gate strong, so that sounds pretty interesting.

Kristen Bahls:

I don't know If I end up picking that up. Hmm, it'd probably be a library grab, because I don't. I just don't know If it was just that story Happy Place. That didn't hit well with me or if it's Emily Henry's writing style. But again, may try it, I don't know, we'll see.

Kristen Bahls:

Speaking of books that I'm honestly not sure that I'm going to read, we'll see. I'm still debating, even though I've loved all of the other Ali Hazelwood books that I've read. Love Theoretically is really good. Love Hypothesis is really good. Check and Mate is really good. Love on the Brain is okay. The novellas are okay. I've generally generally liked Ali Hazelwood's writing style. Between her characters she just has a lot of really good banter between them and they move really quick, like they're very, very quick reads. So normally I like hers stuff. I can't decide on this one because it sounds really intense and you'll see what I mean. So I'm not exactly sure if I'm going to pick this one up either. Man, last episode I was just saying I'm going to read that one and that one. I preordered that one, and then these, some of these, I'm kind of like I don't know. So we're just going to go into it.

Kristen Bahls:

The release date for this one. It is called Not in Love, by Ali Hazelwood, and she actually has two coming out. I'll talk about the other one in a second, but the first one is more of her typical STEM romance kind of thing, and what I mean by STEM romance. If you were not familiar with Ali Hazelwood which I think most people are, she's pretty popular. But just some background in case you're new. She does tend to write romances that always involve characters that are working in STEM. Or with her newest YA novel, Check Mate, it was all about chess. So she does like to pick male dominated fields or sports or things and tell it from the woman's point of view in a male dominated industry or game like chess. So this is more aligned with what she normally writes.

Kristen Bahls:

The release date for this is June 24th, so it's coming out in the summer, and this is from her Instagram. So this is not a plot synopsis because she's still working on the book, but she's just kind of telling us a little bit about what's going on. So she says "guys, I'm still editing this book and I'm sort of terrified to talk about it. Like I would love to say that it's a dual POV angsty love story about two complicated people who are on opposite sides of a hostile takeover and yet are inexplicably drawn to each other. And even though they desperately want to make a connection, they're just not quite sure how to do that, except with lots of spice. But since I'm still editing, it's very possible that the final version will be a cozy PG romcom about two clowns falling in love at juggling school. Only time will tell. Send thoughts and prayers, please. So sounds like this book is going to be pretty intense. I don't know, I'll have to see, we'll see. I can't decide if I'm going to pick this up or not. I don't know. The cover is interesting. We'll see.

Kristen Bahls:

Next up, by Ali Hazelwood, she's dipping over into more of the fantasy genre for this one. And also, how does she have like two books coming out? How do you even write that fast? I'm not going to say that she has a ghost writer, because I don't know if she has a ghost writer, but I don't know any other way that you would write that fast. But maybe she just had an idea already. Honestly, she could have already kind of had read, had read I don't know what is with me today. Honestly, she could have already have written this story, or it could have been based on something else, and so maybe she already had most of it done and she just had to go back and read it. Maybe that's how she's able to have a book that's coming out in February this one next round, to talk about, and then another book coming out at the end of June. I don't know, but she's writing stuff like no one's business. So at least the good news is, if either of these books are not your thing, we don't have to wait that long for another Ali Hizalwood, because clearly she's going to come out with another one. So this one is more of a fantasy romance. I said it was technically still called a romance, but this is definitely more in the fantasy genre.

Kristen Bahls:

For sure. I'm not sure about this one. I don't know. Yeah, I don't know. I don't think I'm really going to read this would be my guess. But never say never. I mean, if the reviews are good, who knows? You know, I mean I could read anything. So anyway, all that to say, just in case you were wondering.

Kristen Bahls:

This is via Goodreads. This is the plot synopsis, plot summary that is out right now. It says," Misery Lark, the only daughter of the most powerful vampire councilman of the Southwest, is an outcast again. Her days of living in anonymity among the humans are over. She's been called upon to uphold a historic peacekeeping alliance between the vampires and their mortal enemies, the wares, and she sees little choice but to surrender herself in exchange. Again, ware's are ruthless and unpredictable Lo , Morelend their alpha , is no exception. He rules his pack with absolute authority, but not without justice and, unlike the vampire council, not without feeling. It's clear from the way he tracks Misery's every movement that he doesn't trust her. If only he knew how right he was, because Misery has her own reasons to agree to this marriage of convenience, reasons that have nothing to do with politics or alliances and everything to do with the only thing she's ever cared about, and she's willing to do whatever it takes to get back what's hers, even if it means a life alone in ware territory, alone with the wolf." So it's very different from what she's written so far, but, yeah, crossing over into the fantasy genre. So if you want to read about vampires and werewolves, there you go. Alli Hazel was coming out with that.

Kristen Bahls:

Like I said, I don't know. I don't know if I'm going to read either of these books. I'm probably not going to read the fantasy book. I don't know. I mean, yeah, I don't know. Like I said, it's just been a while since I've read a fantasy novel and now that there are just so many other options and so many good thrillers, I don't know if that's my genre, but if you love fantasy, that is fantastic. So I'm probably not going to pick it up. Or if you want to pick it up, please do. That's why I'm reading all of these. If I was only reading the ones that I wanted to pick up, this would be a lot shorter, but then you wouldn't get the full picture. But speaking of one that I am definitely going to pick up, we have the X views by Jessica Joyce Earlier.

Kristen Bahls:

In a previous podcast episode I talked about her debut novel, Yo u With a View, fantastic novel. I would highly recommend it. It is in the romance category because we're still in the romance genre, but I loved her debut novel. It was so good. You With a View is so smart. She's a really great writer and it was funny because I was reading this book the other day. Okay, so the book that I'm currently reading right now is Night Shift, and I am blanking on the author's name, but in the book it said something like when you love an author so much that you would want to read their grocery list, and I agree. I think that Jessica Joyce is one of those authors for me. So her new book, the EX Views. I am definitely going to be picking it up and the release date is July 16, 2024.

Kristen Bahls:

If you have not noticed, almost all of these are coming out around the same time in summer, so June and July, whenever it's ridiculously hot and in Texas I'm not going to be able to probably go outside much. Guess what. I'll have some books to read. Okay, this is from Jessica Joyce's Instagram. Here's what she says. The book is about, "Georgia Woodward lives for her list, none more so than the one about her ex Eli Mora. It's full of the ironclad do's and don'ts that they've been following since she returned to the Bay Area after their cataclysmic breakup five years ago. With the wedding of their mutual best friend, Adam, looming, and them about to step into their roles as best woman and man. Georgia's never needed it more. She refuses to threaten their tight knit friend group with her messy and still very present feelings. The rules on that list will keep her cool, calm and compartmentalized. What's not on her list? Eli arriving from New York with the new rule breaking attitude, or the all inclusive venue burning to the ground, leaving the bride and groom in dire straits. Nor does she anticipate Adam asking her and Eli to help him make a miracle happen together.

Kristen Bahls:

As Georgia and Eli rush up to Napa Valley to pull off the perfect wedding, their own chemistry comes back in technicolor. Somewhere between cake tastings gone wrong, disastrous DJ auditions and Eli's heated attention, Georgia starts recognizing the man she fell in love with before and if she lets herself break her rules, she might find out. What they're building isn't, isn't the old something that ruined them. It's a chance at something new. "There you go.

Kristen Bahls:

You know, sometimes, whenever there's a big word in there that I think I, I think I know how to pronounce, I'm always wondering if I'm pronouncing it wrong, which then makes me stumble over it, even though I know how to say it, because there have been multiple times where I've said a word and, like my students or other people have been like that's not how you say it and I'm pretty sure I'm right, like it's 50/50. Sometimes I'm right, sometimes I'm not. So, yeah, I don't know if I ever mispronounced something. I'm definitely not trying to, of course, but yeah, that's just kind of how it goes whenever you're trying to read and read quickly. And I do try to prep beforehand, but sometimes the word like cataclysmic gets, gets around, did I say that right, oh gosh, now I'm second guessing that. Okay, I'm gonna move on to the next one before I can just just keep talking myself into that everything I say is wrong and I cannot pronounce anything. Up.

Kristen Bahls:

Next we have Abby Jimenez, and her new book is Just For The Summer. I will definitely be picking this up. I am full disclosure. I am on the Abby Jimenez like fan group on Facebook and there are a lot of arcs going around and an arc stands for advanced reader copy, so I may get this book before it actually happens. I haven't created a net galley account because I almost it's not that, it's not that like if, if a publishing company or an author sent me a book beforehand, of course I would read it early, but I feel like when you read books early, it's not as fun whenever the release date comes around, because you're like oh yeah, I've read that months ago and so I. I'm like saving my joy, I guess, because why would I want to get joy now when there are all these other really good books, versus later, when you know it might be kind of the middle of the year? There isn't as much coming out and I could read it like with everyone else. So that's just kind of my stance on it. But with this, if I got an ARC, I would read that ARC and read it beforehand.

Kristen Bahls:

Abby Jimenez I really liked, Yours Truly, that she wrote. I thought that one was great. It was really, really cute. I think I gave it five stars on Goodreads. Did I read one other and I'm blanking on the title. I didn't like that one quite as well, but this one sounds really good, so I do think I'm going to pick it up.

Kristen Bahls:

If you did not know Abby Jimenez, she has her own business called Nadia Cakes and it's like a cupcake thing and I think she won. She won something on the food network which was pretty big before she actually became an author. So yeah, she has a really interesting background. If you've heard her name before and you're like is it that Abby Jimenez? Yes, it is that Abby Jimenez, and the release date for this one is April 2nd. So a little bit more in the spring, not quite as much in the summer.

Kristen Bahls:

But here now I'm losing my train of thought. I just wanted to point out I already said that I was a part of her Facebook community, but if you have not definitely joined, obviously, it's free to join her Facebook community. You just have to put like what books you've read and answer a couple questions and you can get insider tips from her about her latest novels and there are even groups based on each novel so you can talk about it with that group without spoilers. And they have arcs going around all the time whenever she has new book out, so you get the latest of everything. So that's where I'm getting my information and I would highly recommend checking out her Facebook group and Sarah Adams Instagram. If you're already there, you know what you can just follow, like all the authors on Instagram. You'd be surprised at all the little like sneak peeks and things that they give out on social media, especially romance authors. But here is her summary from Goodreads and this is Abby Jimenez, Just For The Summer.

Kristen Bahls:

"Justin has a curse and thanks to a Reddit thread it's now all over the internet. Every woman he dates goes on to find their soulmate the second they break up. When a woman slides into his DMs with the same problem, they come up with a plan they'll date each other and break up. Their curses will cancel each other out and then they'll both go on to find the love of their lives. It's a bonkers idea and it's just might work. Emma hadn't planned that her next assignment as a traveling nurse would be in Minnesota, but she and her best friend agree that dating Justin is just too good of an opportunity to pass up, especially when they get to rent an adorable cottage on a private island on Lake Minnetoka. It's supposed to be a quick fling, just for the summer. But when Emma's toxic mother shows up and Justin has to assume guardianship of his three siblings, they're suddenly navigating a lot more than they expected, including catching real feelings for each other. What if this time fate has actually brought the perfect pair together?" I think that sounds pretty interesting and different, so I will definitely be picking this one up. And then next up we have Business Casual from B. K. Borison, and that is coming June 25, 2024. So our normal range.

Kristen Bahls:

I have read Love Light Farms by B. K. and I did really enjoy it. I mean it is not bad. I'm not saying that the book is bad. It's just a completely different style than a lot of the other romance authors that I've mentioned, like Jessica Joyce, Ali Hazelwood, Abby Jimenez, Sarah Adams, Alexa Martin. Like all of them they have a very like punchy, quick, fast, witty style. So whenever you're reading their books they're going to go really quick.

Kristen Bahls:

Whereas B. K. Borison's books are still good, there's still there's still some wit in there. It's just a little bit softer, it's a little bit more romantic, it's a little bit slower, I guess you could say. And that also has to do with the town that everything is in, because it's a small town so everything kind of moves out of slower pace. So that could also play into kind of how she writes. But again, her novels are not bad in any way. I just I gave it four stars because I've just hit a string of authors that I really like and the more romance novels I read, the more I'm starting to realize what I like. And I do really like that fast, punchy, upbeat writing style that's just going to grip you from page one. And her writing is still really good. It's just a little bit slower and kind of more drawn out and you know, it's kind of like if a thriller had more of like a slow burn. That's kind of what this is. It's just a little bit slower, but not to say that that's bad in any way.

Kristen Bahls:

So I've read Love Light and I do have her other two books I just haven't gotten to them yet Mixed Signals and In the Weeds. And both of those are still in the same town and there are three owners of Love Light Farms, which is a Christmas tree farm, and so the first tells Stella's story. Story story tells Stella's story, and then one of the, the second one, I think, is Beckett's story and then the third one that I'm really looking forward to reading is Layla's story. So they all work in the same place. So it's all of their stories. They're really closely tied together. And there's also another. He's in there, his name's Charlie. He's in the books. I remember hearing his name in the Love Light books but for some reason I'm kind of blanking. But he is related and connected to that friend group, just maybe not like one of the three as connected as the others, but this is his story. So this is still in the Love Light series.

Kristen Bahls:

So I would recommend, before this book comes out, you might want to read a couple of the other books in the Love Light series, because this is the final book in the Love Light series. So it's not that it's going to ruin it for you per se, it's just the characters are probably going to make some cameos and sometimes it's really frustrating to go back when you already know that they end up together. You already get a little bit of their personality. So if you know that that is going to bug you, then I would highly recommend reading B. K.'s other books before Business Casual comes out. And I'm kind of undecided if I'm going to read this or not, because I have only read one of her books and I really enjoyed Love Light Farms. But I don't know, like In the Weeds, Beckett's story doesn't grip me as much as Layla's story. I'd rather read Layla's story, so I'm probably gonna skip over to the other one first, Mixed Signals. So anyway, all that to say is I'm not saying I won't pick this one up and read it, I'm just I'm kind of undecided. But I enjoyed it, but I don't know. It's like if I had it. Okay, it's like if I had an Ali Hazelwood book, an Abby Jimenez book, an Alexa Martin book, a Sarah Adams book, a Katherine Center book in my hand and then I also I B. K. Borison and I would probably pick hers towards the end. But if I want something that's a little bit slower then I would definitely pick it up. But it's like the writing is really good and she makes a lot of smart choices. It's just it depends on, I guess, what mood I'm in whenever I pick the book. But I would say that it's not a bad read. I would recommend B. K.'s books. It's just they have a different pace, so it's really all about what pace of romance you want.

Kristen Bahls:

And after that super long side note into everything from Goodreads, here is what Business Casual is about. Here's a little plot summary "Nova Porter isn' t looking for love. And she certainly has no explanation for her attraction to buttoned up three-piece suit wearing investment banker Charlie Milford. Maybe it's his charm or maybe it's his determination to help her fledging business. However, he can. Either way, she's distracted every time he's around. With her new tattoo studio set to open in her hometown of Inglewild. She doesn't have time for frivolous for she doesn't have time for frivolous flirtations. In an effort to get Charlie out of her system once and for all, Nova offers a proposition. One night, no strings, they'll kick their uncomfortable attraction to the curb and return to their respective responsibilities. But their explosive night together scatters the expectations like fallen leaves. And with Charlie in town as the temporary head of Love Light Farms, Nova can't quite avoid him, and Charlie well. Charlie knows a good investment. When he sees one, he's hoping he can convince Nova he's worth some of her time."

Kristen Bahls:

Wow, that plot synopsis had a lot of like a little little teeny, tiny. I don't know that you can really call them alliterations, because it's only two and I'm pretty sure an alliteration is a grouping of three words of the same, same letter. But anyway, yeah, but I've stumbled over that one a lot. I, like I said, I don't know. I'll have to read the other books and decide how I feel about Charlie and if I want to hear his love story. It sounds cute, but if I'm, I can only read so many books in a year, you know. So if I'm trying to pick, I don't, I don't, I don't know, I'm undecided, but I do really like them. I feel like that sounded like I just was very wishy washy and don't like her books, but I do like B. K.'s books. It's just I don't know, I don't know, we'll see.

Kristen Bahls:

Okay, next up. This is the last one I'm going to talk about for today. I've taken up enough of your time for this episode. The last book I am touching on and, again, by no means this is the only romance that is coming out, but this is called The Summer of Yes, by Courtney Walsh. And Courtney Walsh is not as much of a mainstream author as some of the others, at least my understanding, but this book sounded good and I wanted to include something a little bit different, to take the episode out out, bring it home, whatever you want to say. So the release date for this one is July 2nd. And from Goodreads, here it is. I'm not sure if it's fiction or romance, I I don't know, I couldn't really tell. So this actually may be in the fiction genre or the romance genre. I really couldn't tell. But anyway, here's the plot summary from Goodreads.

Kristen Bahls:

"A near-death experience catapults workaholic junior editor, Kelsey Worthington into changing her life one yes at a time. Kelsey Worthington always dreamed of being a writer, but she settled into a routine of helping other people tell their stories in her job as a junior editor. She doesn't go outside of her comfort zone. Her relationships are safe and her job is secure, her existence is stable and she's great with that. And then the accident. While she's in the hospital, overnight, she meets an older woman named Georgia Tate, a glass ceiling shattering, widely successful business woman. Did I say Georgia Tate? It's Georgina.

Kristen Bahls:

Georgina sacrificed everything to become the woman she is today, but now, with a pair of failing kidneys and only a handful of months left to live, Georgina is forced to come face to face with her regrets. Kelsey is forced to reckon with her own list of things I'll do someday, and she starts to ask a simple but life-changing what if I said yes to all the things I normally say no to? And the yes plan is born. It takes some convincing, but Georgina finally agrees to go along with Kelsey on her summer of yes adventures. The two of them set off to see what might be out there waiting for them if they simply open themselves up to it. Together they say yes to whatever comes their way a whole day being tourists in their own New York City dinner with strangers, a convertible that is far from practical, but so much fun. But when Kelsey springs, a surprise visit to Georgina's son Hayden, and Georgina's ex-husband, who is not much of an ex the older woman is less than thrilled. But this is where the true journey begins. Two stories of love, forgiveness, regret, romance and finding a way to live a fearless life, intertwined as these two women make an impression on each other. And it all starts with a simple yes." this book sounds really cute. I would consider picking this one up again.

Kristen Bahls:

July 2nd and Courtney Walsh. So those are all the books that I am highlighting that are coming out in 2024. I say that's it, but I'm sure in the next episode, if other authors are still releasing things, which we know they will be I'll touch on those from time to time. But this brings us to the end of specific, a specific entire episode about all the books that are coming out. Thank you for listening to part one and part two of what's coming out in 20 24. So go ahead, be on the lookout, write down all these dates, get ready to either try to check them out at the library as soon as they come out or preorder them if you want. And we'll all be reading these together and I'll let you know my thoughts when they all start come out. So that's it for today on The Overdressed Teachers podcast.
