Did you know that the average cost of a private, single room in an assisted living facility is $4,500 per month? With 7 out of 10 people requiring assisted living care in their lifetime, it’s an important topic to learn about. And Medicare won’t cover the cost of a long-term stay. What happens when one half of a married couple needs care, and the other spouse doesn’t want to give up all their money to the facility? Listen today as Jill Carr speaks with Amir Abu-Aita, an estate planning and elder law attorney as we discuss all things long-term care and how you can take steps to plan for the worst.

Amir E. Abu-Aita practices Elder Law, Medicaid Planning, VA Planning, Probate, Estate Planning, Business Transactions, and Assisted Living Law.  He is a member of the Genesee County Bar Association as well as Elder Law and Probate Sections of the State Bar of Michigan.   In addition, he serves as member of the Genesee County Commission on Aging, Adult Foster Care Providers, and President of Elder Abuse Alliance (Formally known as the Elder Abuse Task Force). He has been selected to the Michigan Super Lawyers 2021-22 Rising Stars list.
