My name is David Hernandez, and you're listening to As the Pokeball Turns. Welcome to As the Pokeball Turns. Our journey takes us back to the west coast where we meet a Pokemon trainer who is an artist with a love for Pokemon battles. While many may know her from the battles she streams on Twitch, her true talent lies in her art that she creates using Paintings and canvases. With her artistic ability, she draws Pokemon and anime and even does crossovers between different franchises and finds unique connections such as one between Lion King and Dragon Ball Z. Here is her origin story into the world of Pokemon. This is Posh. Today I'm joined by Posh, who is both an artist as well as a Twitch streamer who plays Pokémon Go. Posh. Welcome to the show.
PoshWaifuThank you so much for having me.
David Hernandezfor those who may not know, you are a huge Gengar fan, probably one of the most dedicated Gengar fanatics I've ever met. What is it about Gengar that makes you your favorite Pokemon?
PoshWaifuI don't know, dude, to be honest, everyone always asks me that question, and it's just kind of like a vibe thing with Gengar. Like, I don't know, I just connect with it. you would think like as a girl, right, I'd probably like something cute, like a fairy type or something, which I do, I like cute Pokemon but it's just something about Gengar that just draws me to him.
David HernandezI remember how you also like to talk about the Yin and Yang of Gengar, because, you know, according to Pokemon fandom, it's also the shadow of Clefairy, and I know you drew shoes based on that inspiration, right?
PoshWaifuI did, yes. It is like the yin and yang supposedly. It's not, you know, it's the fandom, but I really I really like the story behind that. because it's like he's like the darkness and she's like the brightness, you know, I don't know It's like the yin and yang. I think it's really cool.
David HernandezNow, what I was impressed by was your card collection. You have a full Gengar card collection?
PoshWaifuYes, so one of my goals is to collect every gengar card ever made
David HernandezLike, every individual one, or just any one that's out in the world?
PoshWaifuevery individual one
David HernandezWhich ones are you missing?
PoshWaifuOh, a whole bunch. My collection's not even that big.
David HernandezReally? It looks like, it looks pretty expansive when I saw it. Oh, really?
PoshWaifuThere's so many, dude. I mean, you know the cards been out forever, so, um, Yeah, I have a lot that I'm missing, but, It's just a journey. I'm not trying to rush it, Cause I honestly could just buy a lot of them online, but I like to, like, Go to shops and actually, like, physically find them. so, um, I'm big into, like, going to, like, Comic shops or, like, shops where they sell cards and stuff and going on the hunt for them.
David HernandezSo your collections, any cars that you find physically at your local stores, unless you find it there, you won't actually purchase it.
PoshWaifuI Bought some online or some have been gifted to me because you know, I have my community So a lot have been gifted to me. but the majority of the ones I purchased. Yeah I purchased them locally like at the shops that I go to
David HernandezThat's awesome. That's a good way to support small businesses too.
PoshWaifuIt is yeah, there's a shop that I like to go to and I'm like really cool with the owner. He actually lets me sell my art there, too, so like me and him have a deal like i'm like anytime someone brings you any Gengar stuff or you get anything new That's Gengar related like you got to save it for me and he always does
David Hernandezwhat kind of cars has he been able to get your hands on because of him?
PoshWaifua few of, like, the newer ones, the newer Gengar cards that have come out, because he, like, resells stuff. So, like, sometimes people, like, donate stuff and then he'll, like, resell it or, like, he'll do trade ins with people. but I haven't got anything vintage, as far as cards, but, like, from the newer collections, I have got, a few cards from him.
David Hernandezyou know, besides Gengar, you know, you got the whole onesie, you've got plushies. I got to ask what do you think of the new forms like Mega Gengar and then the Red Gengar Max? Like, what do you think of those parts of Gengar?
PoshWaifuOh my god, the Mega Gengar is so freaking good. It's so good. Honestly, dude, I'm kind of mad. I'm always bitter. I'm like, I need to start a petition because I really don't like the shiny for Gengar because it's so, like, underwhelming. Like, he basically looks the same, right? but with the mega, he turns white. And I always Yeah, and I'm like, dude, it makes sense for the shiny to be like that for like the whole, evolution line, because it's a ghost, and ghosts are usually white, right? Like Casper the ghost, like they're white, so I'm like, it would be, it would make sense. But yeah, I really, I really love the other forms of it, the Mega and the Max.
David HernandezYeah. That mega shiny really solidified the Gengar shiny because Gengar shiny. You can barely tell it's the difference, but when I saw that white, I'm like, why couldn't the regular gang gar shiny be white too? Like, why not? Like, How hard is it to change purple to white? I don't know. You're an artist. I'll trust your judgment on that.
PoshWaifuThey, like, miss out on so many really good Shinies that they make, like, so boring or dull. Cause, like, they could do any color and, and the, sometimes the ones they choose, I'm like, what are you guys thinking?
David Hernandezdo you ever imagine like a Gengar besides white? Do you ever imagine Gengar, the regular one, into a different color? Like, what color do you think it would be good as a shiny besides white?
PoshWaifuI think pink would be really cool, cause I also like Pink Shinies a lot.
David Hernandezpink would be very interesting.
PoshWaifuRight? It would be. I really have a soft spot for pink shinies.
David Hernandezwhat are some of your favorite pink shiny Pokemon?
PoshWaifuI really like Hypno.
David HernandezPepto Bismol. Okay.
PoshWaifuYeah, and then there's the monkey that's pink with, with the arms. What's his name?
David HernandezOh, Aipom?
PoshWaifuYes, Apom. I really like that one. oh, I think, is Ampharos pink too?
David HernandezI know Mareep is. I think Ampharos is pink as well.
PoshWaifuI think so. If I'm not mistaken, I think that one as well.
David HernandezAll the Ampharous fans are saying, like, it is pink, it is pink. I'm like, man, you know how many times I've paid attention to that Pokemon? Yeah, it's kind of like a pink and purple color.
PoshWaifuWell, yeah, I like, cause I like pink and purple. So those are like my favorite colors.
David HernandezWell, Posh, let's go ahead and start from the beginning. So, like, what was your first experience with the Pokemon?
PoshWaifuOh man, dude. Okay. So we're taking it back to my childhood. Just
David HernandezLet's go.
PoshWaifujust like a lot of people, you know, I feel like we started watching it as kids. watching the tv show. So me and I have an older brother So he's like the reason why i'm into like pokemon and gaming and like anime and stuff because he was into that as well we watched it when we were little and then, he wanted to get the game. So like, I remember we were like begging my mom at Kmart to get us the N64. one of the first games we played was, Pokemon Stadium, which I still have to this day. And I still my 64.
David HernandezOh my gosh, lucky.
PoshWaifuyeah, dude. And then we got the Game Boy Color, too. so we did play Red and Blue. And so it started from there, just watching Pokemon and playing the games. which I still collect. That's part of the things I collect. I like collecting, like, retro stuff like that. So I do have, like, my Game Boys. I have Pokemon Stadium. I have my Nintendo 64. because that's where the whole journey started.
David HernandezSee, the reason I said I was jealous, is that I made the foolish mistake when I was like 15 or 16, I sold my N64 and all my games and included Pokemon stadium and all the good games you can think of, the retro ones. I had them all.
PoshWaifuOh my god, I feel like a lot of people said that, especially with the cards. I've talked to people because they see my collection and they're like, I used to have a lot of these when I was younger, or like, they're like, my mom sold it at a garage sale.
David HernandezOh my gosh. The garage sale would probably tear my heart if that happened. Cause it's like, Oh, I had it and I had no control over it. But yeah, I was just too naive to really appreciate those things.
PoshWaifuAnd I think we didn't know how valuable it is, especially now, like, the cards from back in the day are so expensive now, doesn't like, uh, Jake Paul or something, like, doesn't have like the Charizard one that's worth like a million dollars or something, if I'm not mistaken?
David HernandezYeah, it's like some kind of first edition. I think he wears it around his necklace or like a key, like a necklace.
PoshWaifuYeah, dude, and it just goes to show like how valuable they are. I still have some of the cards from back in the day. I'm never gonna sell them and I know they're super valuable.
David Hernandezoh my gosh, do you have a PSA graded and stuff like that?
PoshWaifuI have some of them, yeah, and some of them are worth like 500, like a thousand dollars. I'm just going to keep them forever. I'm never going to sell them.
David HernandezPosh, let me buy a 500. I'll come back to you once it becomes worth more.
PoshWaifuNo. Those are my treasures.
David HernandezDo you remember what cards they are?
PoshWaifuwell one of the ones I have is a Gengar one. I have Sabrina's, Gengar. It's like from 1998 or something like that. It's a PSA graded, uh, Japanese holo. It's, it's nine.
David HernandezOh, wow. You took care of those cards. Yeah.
PoshWaifua perfect ten, but we're close. We're close.
David HernandezIt's a nine. That's still pretty good.
PoshWaifuI know. my mom was big on like, making sure we took care of our stuff, so,
David HernandezI know you said you started out with Pokemon Stadium, so, like, would you and your brother, like, battle? Or would you, like, participate in, like, Premier Cups and Gym Leader Castle? I don't know if you remember those.
PoshWaifuOh yeah, I remember that. I play it all the time. I still play it now. It's one of my favorite games for the 64. we would battle, and we would do everything. Like, we played the whole game. The minigames? The minigames are super fun.
David HernandezOh, they are. They're such classics, too.
PoshWaifuYes, dude, the Lickitung one is so fun. Yeah, dude.
David HernandezIs it like the sushi one, right? Like it has to get the, uh, certain flavors or something like that a score. Yeah.
PoshWaifuYou know, they made it now that, they put it on the Switch, so they have like an expansion pack that you could buy. It's like the N64 expansion pack and you could play it online now with people. I wish you could battle people. That would be so much fun.
David HernandezThat's the only reason why I don't want to play it because for me, like if they were ever to release the Pokemon stadium, what I was looking forward to most was the potential for online battles on the stadium arena, or being able to connect potentially your digital forms of Pokemon red, blue, and yellow to the Pokemon stadium, so I can use my own Pokemon for the gym leader and for the, you Different cups. That's what I was really looking forward to, which unfortunately didn't happen.
PoshWaifuI'm hoping and I'm still praying that they actually remake that game because I feel like that game has so much potential, especially with being able to play, like, online. Like, I feel like the battles would be so much fun.
David HernandezOh yeah. So I remember going through the first round and having to battle Mewtwo, and that was such a difficult battle to go through. The Mewtwo battle. as a 10 year old.
PoshWaifuIt takes forever
David HernandezWould you
PoshWaifuway to do it is to how you said you got to play the game Like you got to play your blue or red or whatever and then use your actual pokemon.
David HernandezOh no, I used rental Pokemon.
PoshWaifuOh, really?
David HernandezYeah, because I didn't have Pokemon Red, Blue, and Yellow. Well, yeah, I didn't have Pokemon Red, Blue, and Yellow when I had Pokemon Stadium. I only had Pokemon Stadium.
PoshWaifuOh, wow
David Hernandezjust did rental Pokemon, yeah.
PoshWaifuoh man. That must have been really a struggle then
David HernandezA couple, uh, a lot of days went into that, probably weeks, honestly, if I'm being completely honest. Oh,
PoshWaifuthey have the wrong moves too. Like the suck
David HernandezThey are horrible.
PoshWaifuYeah, they're horrible. They're so bad
David HernandezSo, my friend, we used to believe that if your Pokemon was smaller, it'd be harder for it to get hit by a move.
PoshWaifuThat's funny.
David Hernandezyeah, bad logic, but that's how it was back when you were that young. So I always ended up using Articuno's was my favorite. I used Zapdos, and I always used Mr. Mime for some reason because I thought it was like the best psychic Pokemon in the game. Little did I know there was actually Alakazam, but that's another story. But I always use Mr.
PoshWaifuAlakazam is actually cracked!
David HernandezAs long as it's not the rental one. The rental one is crap. But yeah, it is cracked if you actually have your own Alakazam.
PoshWaifuOh my goodness.
David HernandezWhat about, uh, through Red, Blue, and Yellow?
PoshWaifuRed, red. Um, I'm a huge Firestarter fan,
David HernandezAlso, I guess started with, uh, Charmander?
PoshWaifuYes, I actually even have a Charmander tattoo.
David HernandezOh, really?
PoshWaifuYeah, he's my first starter. So he's like the one that started the whole journey for me.
David HernandezOh, he's your little buddy besides Gengar.
PoshWaifuYeah, that's like top three I would say
David HernandezGengar, Charmander, or Charizard, I assume, and what was the third one?
PoshWaifuClefable.
David HernandezDid you stick with Pokemon throughout the generations, or did you have to leave the franchise at some point?
PoshWaifuyeah, I didn't play all the games Unfortunately, I did fall off of the games, but I always watch the show. At just some point, I guess my mom wasn't buying us all the games. So, yeah, we didn't get to play all of them.
David HernandezSo when Pokemon go came out, you're already back to playing Pokemon again.
PoshWaifuOh yeah, dude, when I heard about Pokemon Go, I was like, Oh my god, a game where I could just play it on my phone? And I could actually like go, like, I thought that was like, Such a genius idea like I could actually go and play pokemon and walk around like actually be a trainer in real life
David HernandezOh, really? So were you hyped up when the game launched?
PoshWaifuI was I was super excited. I downloaded it on the first day that it came out and Like everyone I went I was excited to play it, but then it was kind of underwhelming I feel like when it first came out, it wasn't that good like, it got boring real quick. so I was one of those people that like played it for a little bit in 2016 and then stopped playing it. so I stopped playing it for like two years, I think, and then I came back to it in 2018.
David HernandezDo you remember why it was underwhelming when it launched in your opinion?
PoshWaifuI don't know, like, I think I expected more, because I think back then there wasn't like battling. Because they added like a whole bunch of new stuff. I don't even know. I'm pretty sure they had the gyms But yeah, I think it was because of the battling and then it wasn't what I thought it was gonna be at first. it kind of gets boring when it's just like that. I mean one of my favorite parts, of course I like going out and like doing the events, but like my favorite ultimate part is the battling aspect of it.
David HernandezWhat do you enjoy about battling?
PoshWaifuI don't know. I just always have liked battling. I guess I'm competitive. I do want to eventually start competing. so I don't know. I just have so much fun battling. I want to be the best like no one ever was.
David Hernandezto catch them as a, you're a test or something like that. to train them is your cause.
PoshWaifuYes, yes. I don't know. I just find it super fun. I can literally battle for hours. Like, I literally do battles on two accounts every day. So I do 50 battles every day. At some point, I was battling like 100 battles a day. Like when they have like the Go Battle Days. Where you do 100 I was doing that like every day at one point and then I was like, okay, this is way too much. I gotta chill
David HernandezOh, my gosh. You really are dedicated.
PoshWaifuor addicted.
David Hernandezyou have a particular favorite league you like to battle in?
PoshWaifuYes, my favorite league is Ultra League and it's only because Gengar has the most potential in that one. so I love Ultra League.
David HernandezDo you ever you try to use Gengar in like Great League and Master League?
PoshWaifuOh, I don't play master league at all. I feel like master league is like, you got to pay to play it. I don't really go out and do raids too much. So, unfortunately, I don't have, like, the legendaries and everything that I need to play master league. so don't use him there, but I heard he is good at master league premiere and then great league. I haven't. Used it in Great League to be honest. I have heard there's kind of potential for Gengar in Great League But I know Haunter is better.
David HernandezYou've been listening to As the Pokeball Turns. We're going to take a quick break. We'll be right back. So, one thing we haven't touched on is your art style. So, how did you start drawing? Like, when did that happen?
PoshWaifuso I've always drawn ever since I was little, just growing up, you know, we all draw. I feel like when we're kids, but I like to draw like Pokemon and like anime stuff. Cause I was huge into like anime. I remember when I first, Like, saw anime on TV. I was like, wow, like the style is so beautiful. Like, I had never seen anything like it. So that's what drew me to it. And then, like, I would try to just draw it because I thought it was so pretty. Like, Sailor Moon, like, all the characters on, like, Sailor Moon were, like, so pretty to me. So I would always try to draw it. And, I was pretty decent at it. So my mom was, like, always telling me, like, oh, you're pretty good at drawing. So I always would just do it, like, as a hobby. and then I started painting because before I used to just draw like just draw with pencil or color pencils like in a notebook. but in 2015, I started painting. I was like, oh, let me try painting. I had never painted before. once I started painting, I was like, I fell in love with it and it took my art to the next level because it's like, different than just, you know, drawing with like a pencil, you know, you're able to do more of your art and express it with more colors and texture and stuff. So, once I started painting, I started posting it on Instagram just for fun. Cause I thought the paintings look cool. So I was like, let me post it. And then, um, they started getting a lot of attraction on Instagram and, I was able to grow a following, from my art. People loved it. People were like, Oh my God, can I buy this? Is this for sale? And I was just doing it like a hobby and then like it became like this thing where everyone was like trying to buy it and I didn't know how to do any of that right because I was like just doing art but you got to learn like the business side of it. And so then that's when I had to like, learn how to set up a website, learn how to ship things out and package everything and basically run a business, right?
David HernandezExactly. Yeah.
PoshWaifuyeah, I was able to start making money off of doing art and it was crazy. I just kind of happened that way. I never planned to be like an artist or anything, but Yeah, it ended up happening that way.
David HernandezThat's something I've always noticed whenever I've had art friends, they always struggle with the business side of it I guess, because, you know, art's something that's personal. It's something that comes up from within and trying to put a price on that. And as well as trying to make sure you pay for your time, because a lot of artists, they do undersell themselves. It's a really difficult topic to touch on,
PoshWaifuIt is, dude. Especially, yeah, you're right and I struggled with that because I didn't know anything about business. I mean, anytime I had made money before was just from having a job. So, like, I never knew how to, like, run my own business. And it's a lot, especially when you're doing it by yourself, because it's like, you're the artist, but then you're the person that ships it out, right? And then you're running a website, you have to talk to your customers, so it's like, so many roles that you're playing as just one person.
David HernandezIt is, and you're the face of your business as well. So it's a lot of pressure and it's a lot of moving parts to be able to balance it all. It's how do you balance it all? It's a lot to do.
PoshWaifuI, met my business partner that I work with. And so, he helped me a lot to be able to, like, promote it and just teach me the ropes because he was already doing, art as a business too. he was able to help me basically establish myself and just show me the ropes. And then I learned just by watching like YouTubers, on how to run your own business, how to market yourself, and yeah, it's a lot to learn, to be honest, it's a lot. Being an artist is the hardest thing I've ever done in my life, not gonna lie, because it takes a lot of work. I mean, just making the art already is draining. It takes a long time to do those paintings. Especially me, I feel like I'm a slow, painter. Like, when it comes to creating my art, it takes me, like, days.
David HernandezOh wow, so, it takes days to finish one painting or to, does does that also include like concept realiz the idea as well? Or does that even add more time to it?
PoshWaifuSo, usually I'll brainstorm the idea beforehand, but just as far as just painting it, like, in itself, it takes, like, hours. Like, I'll usually work on a painting, like, at least, like, Six hours a day when I'm working on a piece and then it'll take like about two or three days to finish it
David Hernandezso I went through your Instagram and a couple of your online profile, and I found a couple of that really stuck out to me that I want to talk about. The first one is the Cubone with the Marowak with the Game Boy Color.
PoshWaifuYes. Yes. I feel like as an artist I just be having like random ideas sometimes. It could be like anything I think that one I created during like, um, it might have been in april So like in april I do a lot of like 420 based art and so I think that's why I put the little weed leaf on his forehead but yeah, usually around 420. Um, I do a lot of like weed themed pieces
David HernandezAnd then the other one, I really never saw this connection until I saw you draw it. It's one where there's Goku and with Chi Chi and Piccolo with Gohan. And then there's the Lion King with Simba, Mufasa and, um, the child with Rafiki. And I never really saw that connection between those two different franchises. Is that purposeful or did it just happen by that way?
PoshWaifuNo, it's um, so there was a time where I was doing like a lot of mashup pieces and I would just combine different things from like my childhood that I thought would have similarities. So yeah, I thought that they went well together that they have a lot of similarities. So I just painted it that way.
David Hernandezthat's what I saw. Like, that was the first time it really clicked with me. Cause you got Piccolo, who's a stepdad with Rafiki. You've got Goku who dies many times with Mufasa. And then of course you got Nala. And then of course you got Gohan with, Simba. So that was such a cool connection I never made until I saw your art, which I applaud you for that because I never would have thought those two random different parts of the world would come together that way.
PoshWaifuYeah, I feel like the mashups are like things that are like kind of obvious once you see it, but like no one really ever thinks about it.
David HernandezAnd then another one, which I'm pretty sure you can remember this one. It's the family with Gengar, Ghastly, and Haunter in a graveyard.
PoshWaifuOh, yes. Yes, I just love, I just love drawing Gengar dude. any chance I can get to draw gang art? I will do it.
David HernandezOh, my gosh. Cause you have the gang gang, which is, what you're kind of in charge of. That's is that kind of what you call communities? The gang gang as well.
PoshWaifuso yeah, the gang guard gang or just gang, army.
David HernandezAnd then there's the live and win. And then you have like the tombstones, like that's just such a very good drawing of the Gengar family in one.
PoshWaifuThank you. Yeah, I've done a couple pieces of Gengar, man. I mean, obviously I have two. That's my favorite Pokemon.
David HernandezOh yeah. Is that your favorite one? Or do you have a particular other favorite piece?
PoshWaifuI really like the one I did with, them and Ghost Face. I really liked that piece. I did it during like Halloween month, which is one of my favorite months. It's spooky season, which you know in hand with Gengar. I was just thinking, like, who would Gengar be good with as, like, you know, like, horror icons? And then was like, Ghostface! From Scream, right? Cause he's a ghost. And then I thought about, when they, had Ghostface in Scary Movie. And, you know, it was that scene where he's like, just high and they, I think they call him and they're like, what's up? And they're like, what are you doing? He's like, just chillin, killin or something like that. so it gave me the same vibes as like Gengar and Haunter and Ghastly, cause they're usually like goofy. And so, yeah, I ended up doing them together.
David HernandezWell, speaking of classic movie movies or Halloween, I should say, my favorite one was actually the one where you did, I think it's Michael Myers and you have them in like, what is it
PoshWaifuThe Road.
David Hernandezyes, that one.
PoshWaifuYes, yes. yeah, I did a whole bunch of, like horror icons mixed with like anime. that one, I thought that one was just like clever for, I do like a lot of different themes throughout the year. Like I said, like for 420 and like April I do like, the weed related ones or for Halloween I like to do like the horror ones. I just always like switching it up and trying new things.
David HernandezSo where do you want to go with your art? Like, do you hope to eventually make this a full time thing or are you a full time artist? Like, where do you hope to eventually see your art become?
PoshWaifuwell, recently I've been thinking a lot about if I would want to work, with, Pokemon itself. just cause remember how I was telling you I collect all the Gengar cards? I was thinking like maybe I should try to work with Pokemon as an artist and maybe make my own Gengar card one day.
David HernandezOoh, that'd be kind of cool.
PoshWaifuYeah,
David HernandezLike an official one or like, uh, something you just released through your shop.
PoshWaifuI think it would be cool to release, like, an official one with them, because, honestly, like, I think that would be, like, a dream where I do the design and then on all the cards it says who the artist is, like, at the bottom. And I was like, that would be, like, a great goal to have to be able to work with Pokémon, which, obviously, you know, I love. I've loved it since I was a kid. It's such a huge part of my life and, yeah, I think I might want to work with Pokémon. I know they're kind of, like, Iffy about like because I don't know like I know pokemon strict about things and I draw like a lot of pokemon but yeah, I think it would be cool to work with pokemon.
David HernandezThat would be sick. Can you imagine, like, if you actually have a card printed of just, we'll say, Gengar, and everybody gets to see it and your name's on it, and you can, like, literally live your mark in Pokemon's history? That'd be kind of a cool goal to reach. I
PoshWaifuI like i've actually been thinking about that but yeah, i've already done Art full time as like job. I enjoy it, but like, mixing art with like the money kind of, to me, takes the fun out of it because like how you said, like it's so personal and like to me, I was doing art for like the fun of it, for the love for it, so making it a job, like, I don't know, it kind of takes the fun out of it for me, I'm still blessed to be able to do it. I always see like I'm blessed like people love my art. I just don't like having to combine it with money, you know.
David HernandezSo I know you've had a chance to attend live events by Niantic. How many have you been to?
PoshWaifuso I've only been to three. I just started going to them recently actually So my first live event that I went to was New York GoFest I actually flew across the country for it, because I do live in California, so I had to go all the way to New York, and, you know, that's like huge, right? You're gonna invest all this money for it, like, it's just a game, right?
David Hernandezyeah. You can lose some hours of sleep because I think you're going from west to east, right?
PoshWaifuyeah, but, I had such a great time, I met so many cool people, what really made me want to start attending the events was after I started streaming, I met so many cool people just through, like, The Twitch community and I know like a lot of them were gonna be there and I was like, I want to go out there meet everyone like, these people are into everything that I'm into, you know, it's a community. and yeah, it was great, dude, honestly, and then just grinding the game, right? after that, I was like, okay, I'm definitely gonna be attending more events. and so the next one I went to was the Sacramento Regional. And so that one's more about, you know, competing in the game, which I eventually wanna do as well. I want to compete in one of the regionals come coming up soon.
David HernandezOh, so you didn't compete in Sacramento?
PoshWaifuI didn't know, I just went as a spectator. I just wanted to check it out'cause I had never been to a regionals and you know, I just wanted to check out the vibe. but it's dope though to see like everyone and they have like, people selling stuff So they have like plushies collectibles and things you could buy It's dope because you're just around people that love the same thing you do And so you're able to connect with so many different people
David HernandezAnd then you got a chance to go to the recent Sinnoh Tour in LA, too, right?
PoshWaifuYes, I just went to Sinnoh tour, which it was, dude, so many people went out to that. It just goes to show like how huge Pokemon is. And it's like people of all ages, dude, like little kids to like older people. And I'm like, wow. Like it just goes to show like, there's no age limit to this. Like anyone could play it. It brings so many people together. And to me, it's crazy to see how much it has grown Since I was like a little kid, you know, because I feel like Pokemon is as big as it's ever been now. Like it's so popular.
David HernandezWhen you go to these live events, do people recognize you from your art or Twitch at all?
PoshWaifuYes, I do have people that know me that recognize me. So I think that's pretty cool. I'm like, oh, my God, like I'm actually out here, like making a name for myself.
David HernandezYou're becoming a celebrity.
PoshWaifuI feel like a regular girl, but I guess some people see it like that They do say like you kind of are like a celebrity, which is crazy.
David HernandezWell, Posh, I have one last question before we close the interview. You ready for it?
PoshWaifuYes, I'm ready
David Hernandezso we know Gengar's your favorite. So say like somebody's coming up to you and challenging you for a Pokemon battle in California somewhere, there's thunder, you're in a haunted house, whatever. What other five Pokemon would you include on your team?
PoshWaifuThat's a good one, okay, so I would have Gengar of course I would have Charizard, I would have Clefable, I would have Jirachi and Umbreon. And then I would probably just have a Haunter as well.
David Hernandezthere you go. More of the ghastly family.
PoshWaifuYeah, throw Haunter there too.
David HernandezWell, posh, thank you for coming on the show. You've been a wonderful guest. If people want to check out your art, if they want to watch you on Twitch, if they want to just connect with you, where can they go by all means, please plug away.
