November is a month celebrated worldwide as a time for thankfulness. As the leaves in the northern hemisphere turn from green to a kaleidoscope of colors, we honor the service of loved ones on Veteran’s Day, reflect on the lives of saints on All Saints’ and All Souls’ Day, and cherish the beauty of family on Thanksgiving."
This November the world is changing in historically challenging ways. In the United States the first woman of color to serve as vice president is running for President. Her opponent, the first non-politician to serve as President, seeks a comeback after losing his bid for a second term four years ago. She is a former prosecutor; he is a convicted felon. Both candidates have extremely loyal supporters who believe that if their candidate loses, the world will devolve into chaos.
The Republican and Democrat parties are fighting for legislative control. The conservative and the liberal judges of the Supreme Court are fighting to administer justice as they interpret the constitution to fit the agenda of the political party they favor.
Add to this atmosphere of conflict, the wars between Ukraine and Russia, Israel in the Middle East, while nuclear powers seem closer than ever to confrontation. Throw in global warming, Sharia law, world-wide food shortages, artificial intelligence and thousands of satellites owned by the richest man on the planet orbiting in space. It sounds like a pre-cursor to Armageddon.
Around the world people are unnerved, fearful, apprehensive, and struggling to find peace in an increasingly chaotic environment. While humanity is struggling with these evolving situations it seems like the most excellent time to ask two of the most important questions of our lifetime?
In what do you believe? andWhere is your faith?
Belief in the universal God is the prevalent belief system in the world. Those who believe in the Supreme God believe the following:
• There is only one all powerful, all knowing, present everywhere God, who is the creator and ruler of the universe. • God reveals to humanity His will and a framework to live just and righteous lives under God’s authority.• God communicates with humanity through prophets, prayers and worship, as they prepare to enter the kingdom of God or meet their perpetual doom outside the kingdom, based on how they lived on the earth.
Those who live to love, worship and serve God understand the following:
• All that is, exists because it is the will and purpose of God.• They can have an attitude of gratitude because they are living within the perfect will of God. • They can be confident no matter the situation, because all things work together for good for those who love the lord and live according to their divine purpose. • They can live fearlessly and peacefully because they are covered by the grace and mercy of God.
November is an ideal time to reflect on who you are and why you walk in fear. Why does doubt and apprehension invade your spirit as you cast your ballot, listen to the world news or stare with wonder at the starlit sky?
Is God truly the author and finisher of your faith?
Again, I ask:
In what do you believe? andWhere is your faith?
