Viewpoints
«Viewpoints» is the latest podcast and news magazine produced by the Community Radio Fund of Canada. It provides an overview of what’s happening across Canada, thanks to some 20 radio reporters posted across the country (British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario, North West Territories, Québec, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia) and working for the Local Journalism Initiative (LJI). The Local Journalism Initiative (LJI) supports the production of original civic journalism news content that covers the diverse needs of underserved communities across Canada. Politics, society, environment, community, arts and culture take the air on «Viewpoints» hosted by Boris Chassagne. The Community Radio Fund of Canada works in collaboration with the National Campus and Community Radio Association (NCRA/ANREC).

Friday, June 21st, is National Indigenous People’s Day. A documentary on Indigenous astronomy expert, Wilfred Buck hits the screens in Kingston this week. Filmmaker, director and producer Lisa Jackson, will be with us. A UBC study probes managed retreat from Sumas Prairie to restore Sumas Lake. But the mayor calls it “ridiculous”. An art tour on the southeast coast of Nova Scotia dares to be different as a local glassmaker wants to transform the Queens County into an arts destination. And a Senate of Canada report urges action to protect our soils. If nothing is done by 2060, we could very well run out of productive farmlands.
Thanks to all our journalists this week, Rick Conrad, Mike McCulloch, Kate Stockman, and Christena Lawrie. National editors are Victoria Fenner and Maureen McEwan. Host and producer Boris Chassagne. Viewpoints is brought to you by the Community Radio Fund of Canada and your local station.
