Over 35 years in education, Harriett has taught every grade level K-12: beginning reading to Advanced Placement English. After teaching high school English for 8 years, she took child-rearing leave and spent that time presenting as a teacher-consultant for the Bay Area Writing Project, getting her Master's in writinginstruction, and doing volunteer lessons in her children's elementary school classrooms. Following a move to the elementary school level where she taught kindergarten through fourth grade, she received a reading specialist credential and has worked as a reading specialist for the past 13 years, initially with grades 4th to 6th and then over the past eight years with grades first and second.
