So he set up shop in what would become one of the greatest cities in history, Constantinople. Located on the coast of the Bosphorus Straits with control of one of the richest trade routes in the known world, the only thing that rivaled the landmarks of the city were its defenses, designed to defend the crown jewel of the Roman Empire for what would end up being around 1000 years, and this place was attacked a lot.
