Perimenopause and Performance for Women Over 40 with Lara Briden and Kira Sutherland
Today I am joined by two exceptional clinicians who will require little introduction. Together they've amassed decades of clinical practice in their respective niches of health care. I'm talking about none-other than women's health expert, naturopath & author, Lara Briden and Sports Nutrition expert, naturopath and mentor, Kira Sutherland.
Ahead of their forthcoming live, interactive webinar on Sunday May 1st 2022, I had the opportunity to chat to them about what they will be covering in their interactive online workshop "Metabolic Health and Vitality for Women over 40".
In our discussion we cover the lived experience of women transitioning through perimenopause to menopause. The physical and emotional aspects clinician's need to be mindful on when working with women over 40.
Lara and Kira touch on the anabolic elements of estrogen, why alcohol is an important topic of conversation, the types of testing that they each reach for and which is more appropriate; strength or cardio? We also discuss what approaches they take to body confidence and how being in practice across decades affords you the ability to witness previously considered 'pseudoscience' to become 'accepted therapy' and how naturopathic medicine is often a pioneer and early-adopter paving the way for this.
