Hello everyone! I’m Faith, and this is The Vita English Podcast.

Welcome to The Vita English Podcast. This podcast is for people who have a basic understanding of English but want to improve their fluency. In today’s episode I’ll be talking about a word. The word is "sassy”. Stick around  as we learn how to add a little bit of sass to our vocabulary!

Sassy is an adjective that means to be bold, lively, confident, or even a little bit rude in a playful way. It is often used to describe a person, their attitude or behavior, and it can be seen as a positive trait in some contexts.

For example, if someone is confident and bold, they might be described as sassy. A person who talks back or has a quick-witted comeback can also be described as sassy. However, it is important to note that the word can also be seen as disrespectful or inappropriate in certain situations.

So, when is it appropriate to use the word sassy? Well, in informal or friendly settings, such as among friends or family, it can be used playfully to describe someone's behavior. For instance, if a friend makes a witty comment, you can say "oh, you're so sassy!" However, in a more formal or professional settings, such as at work or with someone you don't know well, it's important to be careful with your use of the word sassy.

While the word can be used for both genders, it's often associated with girls or women who exhibit these traits.

Here are three sample sentences using the word sassy:

  1. She was being sassy when she told the teacher that she didn't do her homework.
  2. His sassy comment made everyone laugh at the party.
