Are you ready to transform or begin a new self-care routine this new year? If so, then I have a special self-care ritual checklist that is exactly what I use as part of my routine. This checklist is what has helped me stick to a non-negotiable routine that helps me do exactly what I need to do to care for myself in a healthy way, which helps me be a better mom. If you are ready to take your routine or add a routine to your life, then make sure you grab your checklist today. Details are in the show notes. I don't know about you, but the last two months, or maybe like the last entire year, threw me off my self-care practice more than a handful of times, and because of this, my health has suffered. As I begin to pick up the pieces and hopefully work on reducing my levels of stress, what better way to do this but today, on New Year's Day and also on International Self-Care Day? So listen in for all the helpful tips that I have in store for you for this new year. Hello, and thank you for tuning in today To Dear Mommy. This party is just getting started, the place where you will find self-care, peaceful and fun parenting and wellness resources at your fingertips. Let's dive in. So tip number one schedule yourself first. This is one thing that I emphasize with all my clients as soon as they walk into my office when I see the overwhelming stress on their faces and the impact it has on their relationships. We all know we cannot pour from an empty cup, so why do so? Fill up your cup first and you will be able to provide for others. So this year I took my calendar and scheduled my self-care days each month for the rest of the year. If you find it difficult to take so much time off, just begin by blocking 30 minutes sometime during the month and think of something small like taking an app, reading a book or just making time to book doctor appointments. As a mom, you might be inclined to book all the activities related to your child first, but I urge you to first block your time, as without you, they can't go to any of their activities. So I hope that you will take this tip open your calendar now and schedule yourself first.
Speaker 1:Tip number two say no, a lot more this year. We can automatically get into Wonder Woman mode, especially when our nature is one that is already kind and compassionate and has a lot of empathy for others, we can be inclined to do all the things and eventually feel close to burnout. But when deciphering what may be leading to this overwhelming chaos, you might find all the things that you are saying yes to, even when you are already overextended, might be the reason to the burnout. So before saying yes to get more activities or events or situations this year that will require a lot of you, take a moment to pause and ask yourself two questions. Am I both physically and mentally healthy to take on this right now? Is taking on this going to leave me with feelings of regret? Working through these questions will help you make a fair decision on how much to take on in this new year, and don't worry about disappointing others. The people who love and care about you will understand. If they don't, then it wasn't a great idea to overextend yourself for them. Anyway, I want to take a moment to remind you of the free self-care checklist that I have for you to download. If you are in need of a self-care ritual refresher, make sure you stay until the end to hear more and download your checklist today. I also have a special message coming at the end, so continue on to self-care.
Speaker 1:Tip number three for this year. Tip number three seek support. This year it literally takes a village to help you raise your children. The last thing you want to do is to isolate yourself from support. Support can come in different ways, such as people you can trust. That can include family members, a teenage neighbor who may be offering babysitting duties and who you can trust and is CPR certified, or community events. The place where my son does karate offers a monthly parent night out for a small fee, and they have fun activities scheduled for the year. Although I myself haven't taken them up on this offer yet, I am keeping it in my back pocket in case it will come in handy this year for us.
Speaker 1:These are just a few of the things that can make this year the year in which you make yourself a priority, and I hope you will be encouraged to do so, because I sure am. I want to get back to that routine and I'm sticking to it. I hope you will, too. Remember my fellow mom. You are not alone in this journey, and I hope you will listen in for more fun and useful tips to be your best mom self. If you are interested in forming your own ritual around some main self care practices. Make sure you grab the self care ritual checklist. It'll get you started and it's as simple as going to the link below in the show notes and start incorporating self care on this first day of the year and if you are listening much later, go ahead and start at any point. There's no right or wrong here, it just matters that you begin.
