I trust that you noticed what we did there. But should you have missed it all, here is a detail sundae.

KINDS of KINDNESS, as I was scolded by a regular on Friday night, has nothing to do with kindness, as a matter of fact, she continued, it is quite the opposite. My take is that it is part of the joke Yargos is playing on us. He is so clever, such a good craftsman and brilliant filmmaker, that this must a part of his evil genius. It gets better as it gets worse. How he coxed such fine actors into playing these roles straight, is beyond my comprehension. And while several of the laugh out loud moments were welcome relief from the manufactured tension buildup, a study of human power dynamics was, at times, cringeworthy. But beautifully so. The guy is pure talent, a prankster looking for a John, somebody to sell his cinematic snake oil to. We are that eager customer. The joke is on us. Kindness ha ha,  I get it. Therefore I am happy to see it go.

Pop-up number one. SONDER FILMS SURF FILMS TOUR. Surf Film Tour Vol. 1- 90 minutes of the most entertaining, inspiring and exciting short surf films available. Hand-curated to represent a diverse offering of geographic, gender and social cultures. Special popup pricing, everybody gets the senior Tuesday price of a ridiculously low $9.00. This gets better as we go - please be advised.

Pop-up number two. 108 minutes long, SONDER FILMS MOUNTAIN BIKING TOUR. This film festival favorite features epic adventures, legendary lines, stellar storytelling, and interstellar athletes riding in many of mountain biking’s most scenic locations. As we witnessed a few weeks back with our BIKE PARK fund raiser, the mountain bike genre is now an undesputed art form. This stuff is smoking hot!

We switch them up Tue & Wed so everybody gets a chance to watch. Did I mention the $9 tickets? 6-60: $9 BUCKS.

THELMA. Released earlier this year, THELMA has been kicking butt at the box office from Boston to Bakersfield, and now comes for Bainbridge! When 93-year-old Thelma Post gets duped by a phone scammer pretending to be her grandson, she sets out on a treacherous quest across the city to reclaim what was taken from her.

RABBIT & THELMA, SAT NIGHT @ 7. Rabbit is the latest short from Jamie Granato, who’s DNA is part of the HLT. He called last week looking for some auditorium time to screen his effort for family and friends. Well, one thing led straight to another, ending with a double feature!!! Mad Men at work! Come watch RABBIT at 7pm and stay for free to watch THELMA as guests of The Granato family. Jamie will also be around afterwards to host a Q&A. What a deal!
