With Michael Kane

Who do you see in the mirror each morning? Join me, your host Michael Kane, as we embark on a timely exploration into the essence of self-identity, kicking off the new year with a heartfelt conversation on uncovering our authentic selves. In the unique fabric of life, each thread of personal value weaves the tapestry of our existence, dictating the paths we choose and the goals we set. With Oscar Wilde's wisdom as our beacon, we reject imitation and embrace the comfort of our own skin, understanding that our individuality is not just a trait but the cornerstone of our journey. As I narrate the influence of our roots and the challenges of balancing tradition with innovation, we navigate the intricacies of personal and professional identity, fashioning a life GPS to guide us through the terrain of purpose and fulfillment.

This episode reaches beyond the superficial allure of success, proposing a richer, more personal definition that resonates with the soul. I, Michael Kane, urge you to redefine achievement, not by the gleaming allure of material possessions or the envy of others' lives, but by the indelible impact we leave on those around us. Together, we discover how assisting just one individual can ripple into a legacy of success. Our discussion is an invitation to craft your narrative, to become the unparalleled version of yourself, and to paint your life's canvas with the authentic colors of your spirit. This isn't just a dialogue about success; it's about rewriting the script of achievement with your own, inimitable signature.

Speaker 1:

Hello there. This is living. Your success 24 seven with yours truly. Michael came in the house. So how's your 2024? Wow, almost hesitated for a moment and said 2023. Where has the time gone? Time waits for no. Where you know this is there's no way for any of us. That's right. That's saying 24 seven.

Speaker 1:

So, anyway, I hope your new year is new and exciting, productive, hopeful, insightful, satisfying. How's that? Well, anyway, what's on my mind? I have to tell you a lot of things, but I want to talk about, I plan to talk about on this show. Is you us, as far as? Who are we? Who are you?

Speaker 1:

Did you ever ask yourself whom you are? Who am I? They sound ridiculous, but you surprised how many people can't answer that question immediately. Upon hearing that question, they would hesitate and take home after the question what do you mean? What are you values? What do you? What's important to you? Why am I asking that? Because once we hunker down who we are as a human being, as a person, we can make accelerated progress in meeting our goals and our achievements are milestones, that bucket list, that dream list, if you will, whatever you want to call it. So it's important to define who you are and the parameters of your world.

Speaker 1:

I did a presentation a few days ago and I talked about before we move forward on our journey, we need to really define who the heck we are and be comfortable with that, be comfortable in your own skin, be comfortable knowing that you're good enough. You can be good enough, you are the chosen one for whatever is you want to do. You can be that person. And I said it's okay to have role models and look up to people. That's fine. You can emulate them, borrow steel, how they behave, how they say. But you know what. You do not want to be a carbon copy of anyone. Why do you want to? You know why people do it Because they don't believe in themselves. They don't think their aura, their essence is good enough. So let's change all that. In order to be successful in the way you want, you have to be an original. Again, we look at other people's experience and we can learn from that. There's nothing wrong with that. It's okay. It's okay.

Speaker 1:

But let me give a quote here Oscar Wilde, the playwright and poet. He said be yourself. You know why? Why do you say that? Be yourself? Because everyone else is already taken.

Speaker 1:

You may have heard that A lot of people may have heard it but may not practice it Be yourself, because everyone else is already taken, somebody already. They were born with their name, they're born with their life and they conduct their life as they see fit. You were born with your name in a certain family, in a certain neighborhood, city, state, country, instilled with, probably, values, and still from your family, immediate family. But, as you know, as you become an adult, you take ownership of who you are. You know, give honor to mama and daddy and whoever raised you grandmommy, daddy, whoever it is uncle, auntie and we adapt to certain mores and modus operandi and how we live our life and at some point that crystal ball or that light bulb goes off.

Speaker 1:

It says wait a second. It's a tug of war where you're fighting that tradition that all you knew versus these new ideas, these new, these new pathways, this journey that's different from the journey you were on, because you're growing into adulthood, you're growing into maturity, where you feel like something's missing in the equation, missing. There's a hole in you and that hole is you're fighting to be you. Maybe you don't know how, maybe you're vacillating between the world you knew versus the world you wanna create. You hear me. What's the old expression when you say, yeah, dig me. Okay, we used to say that all a long time ago.

Speaker 1:

So again, who are you? Where'd you come from? Where do you wanna go? Just like when you're getting your car? I'm assuming you have a destination, you have a particular journey that you thought out, planned for, and you knew where ya wanna go, what day, what time, who ya wanna do it with or not, how you gonna get from point A to point B to C. You plotted that out, probably use your trusted MapQuest GPS device etc. To help get you there. Or is it a place you already familiar with and you're already get there, but you already have experience on what pathway to take? Same thing is true with our lives. We need the same GPS on us, the life GPS, a pathway, a direction, a purpose, a purpose that we identify with and want to pursue. So, and some of the shows to come that I'm going to do, we're going to delve into the psychology of you, right, and things you can do and things you should or can strive for in order to become that successful you and let's say, let's call it a successful you. So it doesn't have to be an enigma of this thing that's so nebulous, where you can't hunker down and to shape and form the person you want to be.

Speaker 1:

Now, what person am I talking about? Well, I'm talking about the human being person of you and also the professional you. My take is they're intermingled. Now, true, there are certain personas, contradictory personas. We have with our professional you, what we say and how we act on the job, versus on a personal level, at a restaurant, club or event outside of work. That's true. That is true. We can take on polar opposites because at work it's professional and you have to. There's a high expectation to be civilized and professional and act right. Right, you know what I mean To show up on time to do your fair share of work, to be part of a team, but then, outside of work hours you could be, that's true.

Speaker 1:

There's people totally different, for whatever reason. I can place judgment on that, but for the most part we carry who we are wherever we go. A lot of times we have a certain lane, that we stand a certain road. Elements are similar, whether it worked and on our personal lives, because commonality is professional on the job and decent human being. When you go to the store to buy something, the cashier rings you up oh, thank you, it's still pleasantries.

Speaker 1:

Most people don't act like an angel in one place and a devil the other. Now, some people maybe they do they, probably they do, absolutely they do. But I'm looking for the majority. We pretty much behave how we behave, act like we behave. Our value system doesn't vacillate from good to bad, good to evil, however you want to call it, bad to good or whatever. Again, those are judgments, but society does expect a certain level of behavior. Okay, otherwise you have anarchy, chaos and the zombie apocalypse. Okay, I do watch certain films that may have an apocalypse to them, but we're not there.

Speaker 1:

So, going back to the premise, what certain things you could do to help define who you want to be is I like to meditate and to really get in a quiet space, and I don't do enough of that. I used to do more Getting in a quiet place. We started thinking over things and kind of breathe in, breathe out, breathe in, breathe out and be calm. And I try my best to be focused and not be scattered brain and it's so easy to be scattered brain where you're thinking about a thousand things at once. I try to isolate. Okay, what's the issue at hand, what's the problem? And I try to work it out, and then also seeking the advice of a coach or mentor, or a spouse or sibling that you trust. What's your well-being, power of prayer also. And so say, well, who should I be? And the first person that shouldn't be someone else should be.

Speaker 1:

You Say you already have a history with yourself. Think about it. You were raised a certain way and now your circumstances as a kid, a child, may be horrible. Well, of course you're not going to want to replicate that lifestyle of maybe you're impoverished, hungry and discombobulated. The family was dysfunctional. Of course you don't want to bring that into your adulthood and new relationships. So obviously you're going to change certain aspects of your human condition.

Speaker 1:

So, and it's also, and keep in mind, however you define yourself, listen to me now that's going to be the energy you want to attract and that will attract. You may not want to, but because if it's not the values you really want to represent, it can bring, it can attract Some negative situations or people into your life. So quote Dr Wayne Dyer, great man passed a few years ago. To paraphrase him, it's not. You will not attract what you want. Okay, you may be looking totally right here, to the right West, but you will attract who you are, what you are.

Speaker 1:

So and you may not want that because you're in the process of metamorphosis into something different, something not necessarily better, but and possibly could, because we all should strive to improve our human condition and our personality, our attitudes, our attributes, right? So we do want to walk toward the light, toward a positive direction, and so you will attract the energy around. You will focus on what you're doing and how you're thinking at the moment, and at first I didn't believe that. You know, hocus pocus is the first thing under my mind in my first word. That years ago, yeah, yeah, right. How will they know? How would? The universe has a way of finding out and it just went on, not voodoo. But if you're behaving or reacting a certain way, you'll get more of that, and that's good or bad, excuse me.

Speaker 1:

And so we want it all to be good, right? We want good health, right. Most of us you know all of you that are listening to this, worldwide, here, in different countries, different cities, etc. Different races, ethnicities. At the end of the day, though, most of us want the same things we want to be healthy, want to be safe, want enough money in the bank. We want to be fulfilled on a personal level, with a significant other, maybe. Or we happy being single. We want to feel good about us. We want to feel and be fulfilled right, because life is short folks. So most of us want our children be healthy and whole. We want to be happy. Most people want to be happy, and so we have commonality, despite the differences in geography, ethnicity, religion. So all these things make up who we are. Our environment helps, makes us, helps define who we are, and that's good or bad, sometimes a little bit of both, sometimes not all bad, sometimes not all good. It's just some kind of balanced mixture.

Speaker 1:

So you can tip the scales of moving in a positive direction or greater positive direction by defining or redefining what are your motivations inside? Why do you do or want to do what you want to do? Okay, so you can desire more income and be rich and wealthy. But if you just, let's say, shoot and focus on the money, it may lead to unintended consequences. That's why it's important that you look at the good, your makeup, of how you define yourself and how you define yourselves. To take this another step further may not be how others define you, which could impact your career and your personal life, because you're thinking a certain way but it's perceived differently. That differently could be positive or negative. That can seriously impact your success.

Speaker 1:

So you do have to look at perceptions and on one hand, we don't care what people have to say and think about us, but that's only to a certain degree. That means that when you hear that, don't think of that in a vacuum. We do care, should care, how the greater populace looks at who we are as individuals. To the extent that and it's not selfish to want stuff but want things to be cherished, to be loved, to be a field, to be someone who looks up to you as a role model there's nothing wrong with that. It really isn't. Again, most of us are civilized and we aspire to greatness.

Speaker 1:

The question is, how do I get to that greatness? And we'll be talking about this in my whole shows about living your success. It's not called dead your success or used to be your success. It's living it right now, in the present, in the moment, not yesterday, not tomorrow, although we're planning tomorrow. We're planning for greater things for our lives, but we're living today, in this moment, because that's all you have right now. Today, and some of our experiences make up who we are today in our environment. So if you want to make radical changes and touch that level of success you want to reach, define or redefine who the heck you are right now and pursue it with a passion, jump, jump for that. So, anyway, we're going to call it a day right now and please subscribe to this podcast and share it with family and friends.

Speaker 1:

If I help one person, I'm successful. That's one person that can get on the right track. I haven't reached the mountaintop myself, folks. I don't know if anyone truly has. Of course we have people. We can define people as this person successful. This person is more successful, that person based on how much money or whatever it is. But I suggest you may not do that. Be careful who you want to be. You don't know the real story behind a lot of people. A lot of people won't tell you the good, bad and ugly, so they'll tell you the good part, maybe the misleading part, but whatever, be you, be the person you want to be, because that's right, everyone else is taken. So, that said, this is Michael Cain, with Living, your Success 24-7. Until next time, my friends, until next time, adios.
