With Michael Kane

Imagine wielding the power to shape your world with a single action—your vote. That's the premise Michael explores as we delve into the critical role of politics in our everyday lives and the weight of personal responsibility it brings. As individuals, we hold the keys to not just our own futures, but also the collective direction of our society. This episode urges you to harness that power conscientiously, understanding that the choices we make at the polls can ripple across our financial and communal landscapes. It's a call to arms for engaged citizenship, where the responsibility of staying informed, civil discourse, and the act of voting are not just rights but duties to the betterment of human condition.

In the throes of an election year, the conversation intensifies around the importance of your voice in the democratic symphony. Gratitude abounds for you, the listeners, whose support fuels this dialogue on progress and responsibility. Michael encourages sharing these insights on political engagement, further igniting the spark of active participation. This isn't just a theoretical discussion; it's a practical guide to living success every single day, with every decision and every vote cast. So join us, and let's journey together towards a more empowered and responsible chapter in our democracy.

Speaker 1:

Well, hello there loyal listeners. This is Michael Cain, with Living your Success 24-7. It's a Saturday morning and I hope you have a good day. Hopefully you're relaxing. I know some of you are working, so take it easy sometime too. You're working hard, but thank you for listening to my show. I really appreciate all of you for downloading my show and I'm thankful that it's expanding worldwide. And if I can impact even just one of you, it's worthwhile. It is absolutely worth it. I can make a positive impact on someone. So please share this show Living your Success 24-7 with family, friends and even strangers, okay, and your children, whoever it is, coworkers, colleagues and encourage them to keep moving, keep moving forward. Okay, as long as we're alive, we have hope. We're gonna quote a whole bunch of people who said that and I just said it.

Speaker 1:

So this year in the United States this is a contentious political year because of the elections we're president, a whole bunch of bills around the country, senators, you know just representatives. Congress seats are up, so it's a lot of going on here, and I know around the world you have elections as well. So I wanna talk a little bit about politics, but not in a way you think. Again, the star of my show is you, the listener, and so when I speak, you know I share my experiences, observations and opinions, but the focus is you. How can this help you? And this is the way I see it, regardless of where you stand politically, whether you're on the far left, liberal or right, conservative, or you're in the middle, whatever you do, you have vote your conscience, but politics should benefit people. The result of it and wherever I stand, whoever I vote for it, has to be about what is this person or what did this bill gonna do to improve the human experience? How's it gonna improve our lives? Now, I do believe.

Speaker 1:

Now, you know there's certain things they say you shouldn't discuss. But this is a podcast, this is a show, so we're gonna discuss everything. Nothing's off the table. For example, taxes. Some believe you should dang near give it all away and tax them to 90%. Others believe you shouldn't have anything, shouldn't charge anything. Well, I think both of those thoughts, ideologies.

Speaker 1:

I don't agree with either one or a personal stance. I'm in the middle, thinking we need to contribute our fair share. Now, what's that dispute is, what does the fair share mean? I think something reasonable that doesn't leave people impoverished. How's that as a definition. If it leaves your family impoverished, suffering, then that's not good by any measure. I don't know how anyone can spend it, but they spend it. But to do zero? Well, we have a military, we have certain obligations of the government there, because government doesn't have money. They only have money through taxation, and so I believe that we should pay something, we should do something to our part to help other human beings.

Speaker 1:

I believe helping people is the best thing you can do. First you help your family, though Priority order is you help your family first, then you help everyone after that, as you see fit. And I believe the government any government should support, be supportive toward improving the human experience, human condition, human living, human participation. Let's say human, not race or ethnicity. That's just garbage. We're all part of the human race, regardless of what continent country you live in. My listeners, we all essentially want the same thing. We want to be. We want to take care of our families, provide and have money left over to have fun. We want to be safe, healthy. Right, it doesn't. Almost everyone, I believe, wants those things. I certainly do, and if I'm wrong, I'm wrong. So, but I don't believe. Every time we have an election year. All this name calling is inappropriate in my opinion, and regardless of how you feel about someone, there are certain lines we shouldn't cross as far as the quorum and being civilized people. So it's okay to agree to disagree. So I believe, whatever your opinion or your viewpoint or your belief system, that we should all be able to come together to ensure everyone has an opportunity to lead a very successful life. And now people have to do our part. For example, my story, my backstory.

Speaker 1:

I've said on the show many times that I made dumb decisions and I have to take responsibility for that. 20 years ago, 30 years ago, 10 years ago how about last year? And you can't point the finger at someone else when you make a stupid decision. Just own up to it and don't do stupid again. So I don't believe in that. You know you make 20 bad decisions and it's everybody else's responsibility.

Speaker 1:

No, you need to learn People need to learn to what works and what doesn't. And then you know we're going to make mistakes, but you have to stay away from the catastrophic. Really, you know, if you can't afford something, you can't afford it. I'm talking about luxury items or certain things, certain necessities. You have to eat, right, you need shelter, you need clothes, you need stuff for your kids, right, need medical care, and so I'm not talking about those things. I'm talking about those things that you know. Do you really need a bigger boat, for example? You need a car payment of $900 a month when you can't you before that you couldn't afford whatever. To live About a $300 car payment set of a $900. Those kind of things I'm talking about.

Speaker 1:

You have to own up, take responsibility. People have to take responsibility for the decisions they make and it's not anyone else's responsibility to come behind someone that is making continuous or periodic poor decisions. I think that's where a great divide is and it's just ridiculous. Somebody, you know, you know, I own up to my mistakes and errors. Oh wow, she hadn't done that. That didn't make financial sense.

Speaker 1:

You have to make sure you live within your means, not above your means, and you have to apply that to every decision you make. And then what are you going to do about the future? Let's say I decide wow, man, I need to increase my income. What can I do? I think we all want to do that increase our income but we don't want to be a slave to jobs and, you know, not have a well-rounded, balanced life between the work life and the personal life. You want to drive yourself into an early grave by just working. Had a friend that drove himself into an early grave. Just worked too much, didn't take time out for family, friends and relaxation. Well, died prematurely. Those are decisions we have to think. Ok, what's the pros and the cons, what are the benefits and what are the curses? Everything that looks good is good for you. Ok, just think about it. And I had to make decisions too about that. Wow, it looks good, but it wasn't good Then today for me, maybe for someone else. So keep these things in mind.

Speaker 1:

Doing whatever your country's election years, who you choose, can hurt you or help you or somewhere in between. For an elected office, if you vote for certain measures oh, they sound good, oh, it's going to help people, but unintended consequences some things that look good aren't necessarily good. You can't judge a book by the covers all the time. You can't. But there's flags, red flags, and there's warning signals for people that are in your favor or not, and so for situations, and so it's important that you know what your value system is, and that'll help you determine what you support politically and on a personal level, and what you're not and what you do not support, based on your own individual value system.

Speaker 1:

So the important thing is to vote and participate. That's what it's about. So I think that's enough for today, but you get my point, I hope. So just do your conscious, do your homework in these election years and these challenging times. So, anyway, this is Michael Cain, living your success 24 seven. Please share this podcast and continue to support, and I appreciate you. Thank you Until next time, my friends.
