Keys to Health Success
May 27, 2024 Season 2 Episode 20
With Michael Kane

I find myself reflecting on the sacrifices made by the brave souls who've served our country, like my father, Maurice Kane, SR., of the renowned 22nd Airborne. This Memorial Day, we honor their legacy and the freedoms their struggles have secured for us all. But amid these tributes, we pivot to a subject close to my heart - the undeniable linchpin of success: our health. With candid tales and earnest dialogue, we forgo the numbers game and instead focus on the lived experiences and wisdom that inform our views on leading a healthy, fulfilling life.

Throughout this heartfelt episode, we examine the stark reality that without health, the greatest of fortunes amount to little. We discuss the significance of a life not merely measured in years but in the absence of suffering, allowing us to savor the fruits of hard-won successes. From wise dietary choices to the seemingly inconsequential daily habits, I stress the profound impact they have on our overall well-being. This isn't about medical jargon; it's about sharing the common truths that guide us toward a prosperous life in every sense of the word. Join us as we celebrate the heroes who've given us the opportunity to live such lives, and explore the essential role health plays in truly enjoying them.

Speaker 1:

Hello there, this is Michael Caine, with Living your Success 24-7 and a happy Memorial Day to all of you and for those who served. Thank you for your service. Can't thank you enough for the freedom we enjoy because of the sacrifice and the ultimate sacrifice many have paid for us. So you know Tamaris Kane, my father. He served in the army, 22nd Airborne since passed, but acknowledging him in particular as my father so, and a whole host of friends and family that have served as well. So I want to talk about today.

Speaker 1:

This show is about success and career success, financial success, you know. But there's another success that's arguably the most important that you can have. The most important is your health. You can have financial success, you can have career on your job, business, entrepreneurship success, even relationships success. But if you don't have good health, then the rest won't matter. It just won't Because if you're not two parts to this, then the rest won't matter. It just won't Because if you're not two parts to this, if A, you're not well enough to enjoy the other success, game over. And if you die prematurely, game over.

Speaker 1:

So it's a thing called long suffering, where people it's 1, 2, 3, four, five, 10, 12 years of suffering before and then they die and others they just drop with no warning whatsoever. Some people just go and it's a sudden, unexpected loss. So this isn't a big argument here. That should be no disagreement here. Without good health, then all the money in the world won't help you. All the going on vacation and doing whatever you want to do, pretending something that's not there, won't help you. Multiple things that I think are concrete. We were all born and we will all die. But the point is, is that point, those two points in the middle, from the beginning to the end, we want to live a long, fruitful life of non-suffering where we're able physical and able to enjoy our life.

Speaker 1:

So my show, this podcast, is also about health success. Thank you for the money. Success, career success, business success, but without the health success the others crumble. The health success or healthy success, however you wanna say, it is the linchpin, it's that domino, it's that one piece in the middle that holds everything else, it's the foundation. So I'm not gonna cite a bunch of statistics and try to impress you with my knowledge, because I can rattle off how many people die of cancer, heart disease, stress, suicide. I can give you all that and I've done podcasts that gave you statistics as well. This is just from a pure heart from me to you. I don't need to give statistics. All I need to say is what I need to say. So I'm not even gonna try to impress you and talk, just to talk. My point is to hopefully get through to somebody, even if one person listens and take heed. Then I will met my objective.

Speaker 1:

So what is being healthy mean? It means doing your best to eat right. Eat as best as you can Not and I'm not a doctor, I'm not can't give medical advice. I'm not a doctor. I can't give medical advice. I'm not a nurse, I'm not. All I know is my experiences and observations and what I read and what I see and what I live through. That's my perspective. So please, if you need to see a doctor, see one that's licensed in the state that you live, in the country you live.

Speaker 1:

So eating is very important. Of course we cheat on Christmas, thanksgiving, birthdays, but if you cheat every day, well, I'd be careful on that. You have to use wisdom and you know everyone has this wisdom. They say oh, maybe I shouldn't have the double fried ice cream wrapped in bacon, deep fried in peanut oil, but pound of sugar in it, you know OK. Anyway, anyone say clogging arteries, say it. Clogging arteries Reduce life expectancy. It's OK to do, you know, occasional something, but I would encourage you not to make it a habit or practice.

Speaker 1:

A lot of illnesses and sickness, and definitely death, is attributable to poor eating habits, absolutely. Anyone says different is a liar. There's a lot of chemicals being sprayed in the farms and food that are possibly most likely causing a lot of these illnesses too Artificially, and those steroids and nitrates and all that other stuff that jump. It's killing people, it is, it is. So now I'm not suggesting to start your own farm, I'm not saying that either you do what you need to do or want to do, but just be careful what you consume and what you put in your body and the repercussions could be unexpected. It could just boom, you just drop. That's what happens to people. Or some people linger and linger. Can you imagine lingering 10 years and then you can't do anything, then you die. I mean, that's not living and I've observed that and experienced that with family, friends, acquaintances and just people I don't know.

Speaker 1:

So you want to lecture? Maybe it is, but my point is is to bring awareness to nutritional habits, to establish good nutritional habits. To perhaps eating fried chicken isn't the best for your arteries and heart every day or every week, week. So just awareness, that's it. You know, have fun. You know I'm going to be eating pizza in June, and hey, eat pizza, a little salad and chips and a little soda here and there.

Speaker 1:

It's fine that's saying to be a hermit and not do anything and have fun. But do what you need to do. And we do have a garden where we you, you know there's strawberries, other things, figs, and you this and the impact health has on our livelihoods. If you're too sick, you can't work. If you're not working, you're not earning money for your family, disservice to your family, Especially if we're the root cause of some of our pain and anguish and not taking care of ourselves. That is within our control, absolutely. It's not perfect. You can do everything right, but the thing is we're all going to die. It's just a matter of what, day, when and how. But we're all going out horizontally so we can dismiss with that argument we're going to die. If you're born, you're going to die.

Speaker 1:

Okay, now, mental, emotional health is equally important as the physical health. That's why you wanna minimize the bad stress. Why did I say bad stress? There's a little stress that gets you going in the morning and gets you. That isn't so bad, you know. That ignites your passion or something or makes you better. But emotional and psychological distress is not good either, and I've definitely had that too. I've had physical issues. I had emotional, psychological issues as well. Everyone on this planet has, whether you admit it or not. If you don't admit it, you're just lying. So that solves that.

Speaker 1:

So we all go through some grief. We all go through some trials and tribulations and challenges, and so get your emotional, psychological house in order too. And how would you do that? First, take responsibility for it. Yeah, you contribute to that too. But remove yourself as best as possible from people that cause you anguish. Now it's difficult at work because you can't fire for a-holes. You know people that just need to go. It's causing everyone grief and stress and challenges at work. Hopefully we can fire these people when we can, but we know those people always causing trouble, just always drama, always something. My God, you hiring HR managers. Please help the rest of society with these folks, yeah, and put them on an island somewhere and they can operate their own kingdom, probably kill each other, probably, but anyway, I digress.

Speaker 1:

So, reflecting on Happy things and Doing happy things, take vacations. So you don't? You know those folks working 50, 100 hours, 60 hours a week, alcoholics Just stop. I had a friend Years ago, 13 years ago. He died prematurely. He didn't take vacations, just worked himself into an early grave. Well, you ain't taking money with you to your grave, are you? You missed out on all those experiences. So it's important that you have memories, good memories and experiences, and that means taking time off of your job and going out. I'm planning to go to two or three vacations the next year.

Speaker 1:

So take care of yourself and if you need help, please get licensed, help please. So it's important to take care of your body and oh, I didn't mention, I just talked about eating with your body. But you have to exercise. Don't necessarily have to start, go to a gym, but walk, get on a treadmill, get some exercise equipment, do whatever calisthenics, aerobic yoga and all that stuff. Join a gym if you want in a group and go out and walk and hike. Those are things you can do on top of eating vegetables and fruits and less meat and more sleep six to eight hours if you can More sleep, the better. Water water is holy. Without water we die. And less again, sugar, less things that cause you inflammation, and that's it. So live long to see your grandchildren, your children, prosper, not just leave a legacy when you die. Leave and do things while everyone's alive, okay, like give them flowers. Don't wait till someone died to give them flowers. Put it on the casket. You know what I mean. So, anyway, that's it, and I appreciate all of you.
