The public may not comprehend the stresses involved working as a dispatcher. They work between 10-12 hour shifts, are regularly understaffed, and they have to sit at their consoles for hours at a time without being able to leave to take a break.
A 911 dispatcher handles life and death calls where the lives of citizens, police officers, and other personnel are at stake and the stress of that responsibility many times can go unnoticed.
