Episode 76: Courtside Leadership Lessons with Coach Tim Alpers
Today, I'm truly excited about our guest, Tim Alpers, also known as Coach Alpers. Tim holds a special place in my heart as we not only share a hometown but also a profound connection, particularly after he reached out to me during a difficult time of loss last year.
Tim's journey from humble beginnings in our small town to coaching at the NCAA D1 level in baskestball is nothing short of extraordinary. Despite facing health challenges during his childhood, his passion for the sport drove him towards success. He highlights the importance of communication, confidence-building, and the relentless pursuit of excellence, skills that he honed on the basketball court and later applied to his roles in business and government leadership.
What truly stands out in Tim's story is his resilience and unwavering belief in himself and others. He emphasizes the significance of self-confidence and discipline, drawing parallels with iconic sports figures like Kobe Bryant and Tiger Woods. Despite facing setbacks such as polio and a career-ending injury, Tim's advice is simple yet powerful: focus on what you can control and keep moving forward.
