Cultures within Capitalism
This is a podcast looking at all things company culture. Through this series, we’ll speak to entrepreneurs who are part of the Ask Holly How community to understand the different cultures that exist under the broad umbrella of capitalism. We’ll look into how our personal stories impact the cultures we create. Our music is composed and performed by me on the bassoon and Johnny Simon on guitar. It’s inspired by the 5-note pentatonic scale of Scottish folk music in the 18th century - the same time Adam Smith was formulating Capitalism. Our sound engineer is Johnny Simon, and our logo design is by Rodrigo Miguel with illustrations by Rodrigo & Kathleen Scudder. The [w/n] abbreviation is a nod to scientific chart-writing.

This month I'm excited to welcome Brent Young of The Meat Hook and Cozy Royale to the pod. Brent is one of my longest-standing clients, and it's always a joy and a privilege to witness someone's growth over a long period of time. Brent shares so much wisdom, including what it's like to start out as four business partners and be the last man standing, why culture doesn't just replicate itself in a new venture and how intentional you need to be, how his commitment to regenerative agriculture informed his approach to capitalism and entrepreneurship and during this women's history month, how his mother shaped his approach to leadership.
